This pilot is much.. cheesier. Acting-wise, I mean. I don't know, it just isn't as believable as the acting in the aired pilot.

@EmilyAE19 I totally agree. Also, Watson's friend's fake ass accent had to go. Everything in the pilot, to me, was subpar. That is why BBC wanted them to re-do it. Which they did, even down to getting a new costume designer, which was a brilliant move. So, I totally love the re-made Sherlock because the show has always had potential, but it needed the wake up call of having the show made-over to bring it out. Agree? Disagree?

I like the aired version, but this one sticks so much closer to the actual books Arthur Conan Doyle wrote. It's actually really interesting to see it modernized, but with almost the exact same dialogue as the original version in the book.

@nazellina 'Unaired' means that this version was a test version, which didn't show up on television. That's why it's so different.

The producers of this series explain why they made this unaired pilot in a video which you can also find on YouTube: 'Unlocking Sherlock'. It starts at the end of part 2 and continues on the beginning of part 3.
