  • Agreed. Whatever weaknesses this film has it's confident, polished, entertaining and Brosnan has grown into the role. Also the budget is clearly well spent. The music score is a big asset. Just a shame that the series cast Pryce in a part not really worthy of him. All things considered, it's a surprisingly energetic and effective film for the 18th in the official series.

  • 2:04-2:12

"Elliot Carver is often compared to Rupert Murdoch."... "Although I doubt the head of FOX is going around doing shit like this."

    ...Does wire tapping count?

  • I dont care what the haters say TND is a great Bond movie

  • As a journalist myself NecroVMX, I liked this movie, a megalomaniacal media baron looking to take over the world.....couldn't ask for more...

  • @NecroVMX "I doubt the head of Fox is doing shit like this" do you want to amend that statement now?

  • i've never understood why people don't like this and really have a blast hammering down brosnan and the writers in brosnans last 3 films tho dad i can agree with (though not with brosnan). i think i like the realistic feel of this film like you can believe it could happen because of media being such an important part of the world, paris reminds me of sylivia trench a lot and maybe it would of been gd if it was sylvia and not just some woman that bond had a relationship with. good rate :)

  • @dwswh2, It's simple, everyone thought Goldeneye would suck, so when it was actually good, everyone loved it. Now with expectations high, TND was destined to be bitched about. Personally TND is one of my favorite Bond films, while GE was better, TND is a worthy successor.

  • @TheDalinkwent it definitely makes sense, its just that some people i've talked to say that its one of the worst and i just never understood why, but everyone has an opinion!

  • 9 idk about that but this is a very good Bond film one of my favorites good villian good plot 7 or 8 I'll give it I like goldeneye better tho

  • I'm relieved to find a positive review of TND. I thought your review was fair-minded and a good assessment of the film. It can be argued that TND is just an expensive, slickly made action film, that also recycles the central plot of YOLT and TSWLM yet again. But it works: it's energised, confident, technically impressive and fun. Brosnan has relaxed into the role and has a ready charisma. I liked Michelle Yeoh. Arnold's score is very effective. I'm not always looking for mult-layers.

  • TND is my favorite movie.

  • It was actually the 18th Bond film, not including the original Casino Royale spoof

  • @bengolious It's actually not, because I am including that, and the other movies you arbitrarily neglect to include.

  • @NecroVMX Short of listing all the previous films it's easier to point out that the makers of Die Another Day included references to some of the other films to celebrate it being the 20th film in the series. If there were other films in the series before Dr. No, I'll admit I'm wrong but Wikipedia and Allmovie.com both say TWINE is number 18.

  • @bengolious DAD was 20th in THEIR series, but they're not the only ones to make bond movies. Check my playlist ,and you'll see all of them reviewed.

  • some parts of this film are very simular to for your eyes only

  • 9/10??Nuts is being rude, but I must disagree, 5/10 is being generous, very!!!!

Positive highlights are: Wei Lynn, watching her is more thrilling than most of thin-weakling-unconvincing Pierce-Bond stunts! M and Q are charming as always.

Living Daylights had much better car chases and other chases and Dalton's Bond was more menacing and credible, in one word, better.

  • nice review... when I watched this movie recently I realized that I really do like pierce brosnan as bond but they gave him some REALLY cheesey lines! lol :-)

  • Crowe did the theme at the beginning of the movie. KD Lange did a different TND theme at the end of the movie.

Connery was the best Bond, but Craig is the best acting Bond.

  • brosnan's best easily, lovely score

  • 9/10.

    You're nuts!

  • @Pinesol131 And you're stupid, what else is new

  • @Pinesol131 you suck. it was awesome. top 10-5

  • teri hatcher is way more sexy than that michelle yeoh. michele might have been a good fighter but teri is still a better bond girl than her. even if her scenes were short she still is a very good bond girl.

  • @frogdogcat22 michelle yeoh isnt even attractive lol

  • @lloydee1983 That's your thoughts, I find her hot.

  • @lloydee1983 i know lol. thats why i dont like michelle. i prefer teri hatcher because she is sexy and a far better bond girl. plus im a huge fan of teri hatcher and have loved her in lois and clark. i dont know anything about michelle yeoh dont really want to.

  • The scene where he kills the doctor has Pierce Brosnan's best line. Desecribes himself as a professional just doing his job and kills him.

  • the song is badass

  • and i love michelle yeoh but i think her look wasnt for this movie

there are many more beautiful and younger actresses who could have made this role more believable...michelle is a great fighter but her beauty was a different type than that of a bond girl

  • @lilcocobutta you mean, she looked too sophisticated for the part? hahaha

just kidding, I love her, but I can see what you mean. The other bond girls are young and sexy. She's more of a sophisticated, mature beauty and would be better solo

  • paris was believable in her role

if u are talking shit talk about that damn christmas jones

  • honestly since goldeneye i think this is one of the worst movies but i would say its just barely worthy of being a james bond flim. but my bigest porblem with the rest of prices borsons movies are they are just to forgetable. even though i did like the world is not enough it was not as good as goldeneye was.

  • I enjoyed this one. Not as good as GoldenEye though.

  • Great review. This was one of my most favorite bond movie that I've seen.

  • I like Teri Hatcher though no one would ever accuse her of a great actress. Her screen time is so minute though and you'd be surprised shes in the damn movie cause this was the movie where they hype the hell out of a "Bonds Equal" girl, like it had never been done before with Anya.

I'd have to say that this is my favorite Brosnan Bond film. Good review. I always hear this one getting panned cause people cry about product placement

  • Renard, while he starts out as a very promising villain, winds up being nothing more than a passing memory after the film ends. Elektra is the true villain and pretty much steals the show after that is revealed

  • I like Tommorrow Never Lies. This title sounds exciting.

  • I noticed you did not mention the Aston Martin V8 from The Living Daylights among the best cars.

Forgot about it or just wasn't impressed?

I thought the HUD, lasers, missiles, skis, bulletproof windows and backup rocket motor would qualify.

  • I wasn't really formulating a list, just thinking off the top of my head

  • Ah fair enough.

Your review of Tomorrow Never Dies does change my mind a bit about the film, originally I was a little disappointed with it but now I appreciate it more.

I think whilst the pre-credit action was fantastic and I was interested in the plot, it didn't seem to retain the excitement through to the end. Maybe it was that the main villain was just a crazy media baron instead of someone like 006, a similar issue to TLD.

But as you point out, it compares well to TWINE.

  • wait, is this guy american whos commetating? and he uses the word Hench? xD

  • I have not seen Tommorow Never Dies in a LONG, LONG while, but i saw it recently, and i understand a bit better now

  • For some reason, many people don't like this movie. I do. The decline of JB movies started long before this one. I can't see any eason to enjoy OMHSS (Lazenby's performance reminds me of "Thunderbirds" puppets, only they had more character), not to mention DAF.

The Dr. Kaufmann scene was great, Stamper was great, Carver was a great villain, and M's announcement to the press at the end is based on a real case (and a real person).

  • I totally agree with what said about Teri Hatcher.

  • wow this guys voice gives me a headache.

  • Good.

    Hope it hurts.

  • @NecroVMX ahahhahahahahahahah omg that was an awful thing to say from PCGAMEfreak, but damn, your response made me laugh really hard. Good comeback

  • Oh god, Tomorrow Never Dies is the beginning of the James Bond decline. Most films up until Goldeneye were great. After Goldeneye, only Casino Royale was good.

  • i think the bond films that had the worst theme songs were the brosnan films. but they weren't bad.

  • Tomorrow Never Dies was great and underrated Bond movie. Pierce Brosnan shines as always. Michelle Yeoh was great - maybe the strongest Bond Girl. She could kick Bond's ass too. Jonathan Pryce was great villain. Teri Hatcher should have had much more screen time.

I also love K.D.Lang's theme song - really unique performance

  • If you're going to post on every one of my reviews announcing who did the theme song, at least get it right, Sheryl Crow did the theme song, not K.D. lang.

  • K.D. Lang did the song that was in the credits and it was better than Crowe's I think. And I can't believe that Timothy Dalton is your favorite Bond. Dalton was the worst. He was so weak, he didn't know how to fight. Also Dalton was not cool and suave. He didn't have that sense of class that other's did. When he said "Bond... James Bond," he didn't sound cool. He just sounded gay. When Brosnan, Connery, or Craig said it you got a sense of class and thought that they were cool. Dalton sucks ass.

  • You really have no taste whatsoever in anything, ever.

  • @TORCHWOOD006 dude dalton had class he was a big fan of the books and wanted to be hte bond in the book

  • I totally agree with you. But you are forgetting the great henchmen: Vincent Schavelli, Ricky Jay and Mr Stamper.

  • This movie is confusing

  • Am I the only one who thought kd lang's Surrender was much better than Sheyrl Crow's song?

  • It had its high points but causing WWIII and killing billions just so you can cover the news story? Dumb, they should have went with the idea of a Brit who wants to destroy HK rather than see it get turned over to China.

Vincent Schavelli was awesome though in his too-small role!

  • Carver was backing a Chinese general in exchange for exclusive media coverage in China, not starting WWIII (which would be averted).

  • the last good brosnan film in my opinion

he was always the best thing about his films. But they just gave him too many campy gadgets

  • Comment removed

  • totally agree and it's a true shame cause they really just got lazy with the scripts and put too much importance on effects.

  • Yeah, about the title change; i don't know where you got that info, but if it's true, that's very interesting.

  • It's on TND's Trivia Page on IMDB.

  • This film is the reason Pierce Brosnan is THE best, but Goldeneye has an amazing plot. This one has great car chases.

  • @chrisrougue Brosnan blows. Period.

  • @Pinesol131 Brosnan is the best bond who the fuck r you

  • @vonte14321 Haha, get mad. Provide an solid argument, please. He's shit. But people are too indoctrinated to realize this as they have a perceived notion of what Bond should be like, having not read the books.

  • @Pinesol131 you dont have a life so go to hell you evil shit Brosnan is the best in my top 3

  • @vonte14321 Haha, "evil shit". Oh yeah man, I don't have a life. *sarcasm* At least I have a fucking brain, pal. Haha, I don't care if he's in your "top 3" because he's trash.

  • Comment removed

  • @vonte14321 I wouldn't be surprised if you were 3 years old now.

  • @Pinesol131 you no what you gives us james bond fans a bad name like guys like you no what just stop it you gives us 007 fans a bad name

  • Dude, Lois and Clark was an awesome show.

  • TND is my absolute favourite Bond Movie. Its the ony one I can watch 100 times and still not get sick of it

  • it happens everyday

  • His motives aren't what I find implausible about him, it's the fact that he's so sloppy. He's pretty stupid to think that no one would pick up on his plan when he's reporting a significant international event before one of the governments in question even knows about it.

  • 9/10...hmm, well, to each his own. I've never been a big fan of this one. I find this one suffered from some sub par editing, a real of a finale and an awkward title song. I didn't fin Wai Lin that interesting either.

Brosnan is good in the role however and I liked the villain. The motorcycle and remote car scenes as fun as well.

Yeah, a bit of a mixed bag for me.

  • "Teri fucking Hatcher - the bitch who played Lois Lane.."?!?! Who gives you the right to talk like that? I think she is a great woman and you should really stop talking like that only because you haven't come any further than posting your pathetic little movie "reviews"!

  • What gives me the right to talk that way? It's called free speech, try looking it up. A great woman? She's a talentless whore who has crapped up every project she's been involved in, and was thankfully promptly killed off in this film, so she didn't detract from it too much.

Nobody, least of all me, cares about your opinion about Teri fucking Hatcher, and no one, least of all you, controls what I do or don't say in my videos. Don't like it? Then piss off.

  • Well said

  • 9/10 haha. Bond fims were amazing from Dr No to Licence to Kill. All Bond movies since are not the same apart from casino royale. Brosnan looked the part but his movies were terrible.

  • No, actually GoldenEye and TND were great. Seems like you missed out.

  • It is generic, I agree with the critics on that, but it is also a solid film and my personal favorite of the Brosnan films.

  • Though I do not like Sheryl Crow at all, I love the opening credits and the song on this one... its really one of my favorite openings.

And I kinda like the plot. But the very ending fight scene was kinda weak.

And through the whole Movie, I did not like Michelle Yeoh at all. Every scene she was in, was less. Weirdly, I like her in her historical and legendary roles in other movies. But not in this one.

But I play the opening over and over!

  • What happened to the end of your commentary on this video?

  • What do you mean? It's all there.

  • If you watch the end of this video you will see that you are still saying something but that part of your commentary did not say on your video.

  • wow, the Brosnan movies are getting great ratings

    let's wait for DAD

  • Interesting, your commentary is very worthwhile :D

  • I agree, it is a pretty good film.
