WOW! I didn't think that those maintanence vehicles were heavy enough to trip the signal. Unless they have a divice on board that can activate the signal. There's a clip on here from Emergency 911 where two runaway box cars failed to trip the crossing signal.
If the crane's axles aren't insulated, and there is enough weight to consistently complete circuit, then the signals should activate like normal. If not, then the guy in the truck behind it has a relay to activate the lights by remote.
@Bsklarski are you saying it's the forklift and not the white truck
nick06111226 3 months ago
nice, the white truck is the one with the horn most likely
nick06111226 6 months ago
@nick06111226

I would have to choke the driver of that thing...

That would kill the driver. Right Cory?

Very nice! Was that horn a Nathan K-1 bell or a Leslie 31 bell? (Or something else?)

Aren't crossing signals triggered by electrical current (through the metal axles), rather than the weight of the train?

I've actually seen the pickup pull on to the tracks and switch to train wheels, I was about eight and it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen then. xD

i didn`t know that a crane like that would be able to break the circuits at that crossing

It is a crane, not a forklift.
Another excellent video!

Nice catch! It's got a pretty robust horn for a MoW vehicle! Nice that they activate the crossing signals...the Wisconsin & Southern's don't. :-(
VespineVid2 4 years ago 5
its a forklift used to move the track rails
