Favre didn't work hard enough to be great. That was his biggest problem. He took his amazing abilities and upped the ante very little form there. He didn't want to work and deal with the repititions it takes to be elite at anything. How do you think elite athletes become elite. Tirelessly attending to the details, day after day. Something he didn't have the discipline to do. So when the going got tough? Favre folded like a card table, unless he had a historically good team like '96 behind him.

Pretty much all the Favre glory revolves around HIMSELF - his streaks and records. FOR THE TEAM, not so much. Favre used the Pack to garner all those stats, but when the team needed him to, you know, not throw 6 INT's, or 4 INT's, or two overtime playoff INT's, well, Favre couldn't do everything.

After three and half years of struggling and trading Brunell away, he finally got it. And he has played well in the REGULAR season since.
