But after the conviction, he made a deal with DA Paul Hora, to show them where the body is in exchange for a 2nd degree murder instead (15 years to life instead of 25 years to life.) In this video, the body was already recovered, and he is being given 2nd degree murder conviction.

Which means that there is a posibility that he would get out of prison in 13 years. However, it's up to the parole board to when he is released. But he will most definitely have to serve 13 years.

I know I am going to get blasted for it ... but ... I think there should be a min sentence for murder, 15 years, to life, but to that min sentence they should add the expected life of the person they murdered.
For example: Set a persons life expectancy at 85 yoa.
Subtract the age of the person that died.
Add it to the min sentence.
kill a 30yoa get 75 years
kill a 5 yoa get 95 years

That's not smart AT ALL. If life expectenacy in your region is 85 for men, you could kill a man 86+ and only serve the minimum sentence of 15 years. Those who kill for profit would thrive on your grandparents.

his sentence means that he will have to serve at least 15 years, and after that he will have to face a parole board and convince them that he has been good and that he is not a threat to society anymore. The parole board can turn him down, but Hans can apply for it again up untill he dies (if not paroled before)
he must stay in prison for a minimum on 15 years, once he proves to wardens hes behaviour has improved he may apply for parole which you only get once.
once he is up for parole the parole board decides when he goes back up he caould go back every 6 months and they could turn him down everytime,they make that decision on the offence of the crime.just to see what kind of progress the imate is making

When I last spoke with him he said he was going to Russia to take advantage of their then poor economony, and he wanted Russia to continue to have a "shitty economy" so he could prosper by paying low wages to Russian coders.

Anybody judging this man for what he has done hasn't seen much of his/her inner potential as much in the constructive side as in the destructive side. It feels to me as a great tragedy that he has gone so far as to kill someone, and also a great tragedy that he was forced to prison instead of mandatory therapy.
We are not really civilized yet if punishment/prison is the only solution we have to such situations. I hope we can do better in the future to our fellow human beeings.

I was in a similar court room in Oakland for a traffic ticket. Instead of using the normal crappy rooms, they transferred us to a big, formal room just like this. It was very nerve racking... although I won it b/c the officer didn't show up.. it would have had a huge impact on my insurance. Anyways, I can't imagine getting 15 year sentence... earth shattering. Well, perhaps not if he can get a laptop while in prison.

Hans Reiser is a very antisocial nerd with many personality/behavior problems who married a woman who just wanted to get into the US, who had just as many problems as he did (she was having an affair with a crazy BDSM psycho who claimed he killed 8 people). His dad is just as crazy and paranoid as he is and kids are products of their environment. His filesystem sucks ass too. It's not brilliant or anything resembling a good idea for a filesystem. He wasted his entire life on a ridiculous idea.
@pingkai Not it isn't. While it had decent ideas, its execution was poor and implementation poorer. I lost many files to unexplained corruption issues while running Reiser. And it's only more efficient with lots of small files. In a normal day to day use environment, the differences were imperceptible to using ext3. Besides that, ReiserFS has been superceded by much better systems that are being executed in a much better fashion. See: btrfs

I understand he is requesting care packages to be sent to him in prison. The list includes lots of KY jell, vaseline or any good lubricant. I mean if they killed a 90 year old, they wouldnt get credit for a +5 years lol I just am saddened that the murderers get out of prison long before their victims might have died of a natural death. I know my "idea" is not even near perfect, but it does seem a little better than what we have now.

his sentence means that he will have to serve at least 15 years, and after that he will have to face a parole board and convince them that he has been good and that he is not a threat to society anymore. The parole board can turn him down, but Hans can apply for it again up untill he dies (if not paroled before)

once he is up for parole the parole board decides when he goes back up he caould go back every 6 months and they could turn him down everytime,they make that decision on the offence of the crime.just to see what kind of progress the imate is making

evry 6 mos is too short of a time ,the state would be broke in no-time ,most offenders its 1-2 yrs. in between parole hearings,some cases they say shit like,"do six-months A.A. program and well let you out. ", then they call you back in 6 mos... capice?

i dont mean they do it every 6 months but they could,they did it to a friend of mine.he went up got shot down for six months went back shot down for 6 months.went back and they shot him down for the remainder of his sentence which was 9 months left.he flattened his sentence

He seems sociopathic to me. This man has shown absolutely no emotion, no feeling, no remorse for anything he's done. When I last spoke with him he said he was going to Russia to take advantage of their then poor economony, and he wanted Russia to continue to have a "shitty economy" so he could prosper by paying low wages to Russian coders.

Killing anyone is wrong, if you don't like your wife, then avoid getting married. Use your head before, not after. And if you kill your "bitch" or your husband, or your children or not yours, you deserve to die also, unless it was defense. I don't wan to spend money for criminals sitting in prison, unless they are doing social community work, because that's what they should do if they don't want to be sentenced to death.

Well I'm a lawyer though not a trial lawyer. Ask yourself, how often do you see the lawyer talking and giving advice ON MICROPHONE to his client like this? Lawyer says "be brief" and then has to explain the concept like Reiser is stupid. Its an act. They are trying to make him look crazy now so judge or his kids will pity him. Look @ pics/vids from B/F raiser now has crazy haircut and acting 'incoherent'. Look @ 20/20 interview on youtube he obv changed hair to look looney

Anybody judging this man for what he has done hasn't seen much of his/her inner potential as much in the constructive side as in the destructive side. It feels to me as a great tragedy that he has gone so far as to kill someone, and also a great tragedy that he was forced to prison instead of mandatory therapy.
We are not really civilized yet if punishment/prison is the only solution we have to such situations. I hope we can do better in the future to our fellow human beeings.

I was in a similar court room in Oakland for a traffic ticket. Instead of using the normal crappy rooms, they transferred us to a big, formal room just like this. It was very nerve racking... although I won it b/c the officer didn't show up.. it would have had a huge impact on my insurance. Anyways, I can't imagine getting 15 year sentence... earth shattering. Well, perhaps not if he can get a laptop while in prison.

I totally agree with you. Poor children. It's so not fair that he got only 15 years to life. He not only killed his wife, he also 1). didn't cooperate with the police for almost two years and 2). he lied on the stand.
I just can't process and believe how one could kill his wife of 5 years, the mother of his children. And all this "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy Disorder" is a lie. Nina didn't deserve to die ! I never met her, but I believe that she was a wonderful and a loving mother. RIP.

Hans Reiser is a very antisocial nerd with many personality/behavior problems who married a woman who just wanted to get into the US, who had just as many problems as he did (she was having an affair with a crazy BDSM psycho who claimed he killed 8 people). His dad is just as crazy and paranoid as he is and kids are products of their environment. His filesystem sucks ass too. It's not brilliant or anything resembling a good idea for a filesystem. He wasted his entire life on a ridiculous idea.

@pingkai Not it isn't. While it had decent ideas, its execution was poor and implementation poorer. I lost many files to unexplained corruption issues while running Reiser. And it's only more efficient with lots of small files. In a normal day to day use environment, the differences were imperceptible to using ext3. Besides that, ReiserFS has been superceded by much better systems that are being executed in a much better fashion. See: btrfs

Extrañamente todo este caso en contra de Hans Reiser se armó en base a pruebas circunstamciales, de las cuales la más «inculpadora» era un vestigio de sangre de Nina Reiser que se encontró dentro de la casa. Es posible que sea culpable, pero el que se inculpen a los acusados tan livianamente y con tan pobre evidencia concreta, bueno eso explica quizás la gran cantidad de fallos erróneos que ostentan los tribunales de justicia norteamericanos.
Ojalá no se hayan equivocado ahora con Reiser.

I understand he is requesting care packages to be sent to him in prison. The list includes lots of KY jell, vaseline or any good lubricant. He is fully aware that he'll need expert how-to-manuals on fellatio, rimming (frenching & tonguing the anal area), and receiving anal penetrations, hence the need for lubricants.
