Wrong. I think had more soul than just about anybody. What an incredible soul it was too. He was a legendary violinist and even a better human being. This "human" quality is something that he brings to his music. Rest in peace Lord Yehudi.
I am a great fan of Menuhin but this speed kills all the fun and aim of this score. We should not forget this air is just popular melodies with variations. Was he trying to break a record?
You think it's too fast, but each violinist has his own speed. You are just accustumed to other versions, that's why you think this is too fast. Try to hear it like it was the first time and you will see this is a wonderful and unique version.
@alexeyrojas an excellent point but not always the case, i often think 'too fast' happens when the player's quality of sound suffers as they cant keep up or if a piece feels like it has a different strong beat pattern, 4/4 feeling more like 2/4 or 1/4 for example. when youngsters play things really slow cos they cant read it fast enough its often hard for them to feel the flow of the music for the opposite reason, its too slooooowwwww....
UUHH It's too fast, but it's very musically :Xi love that recording ;)

Perfect tempo and perfect temperament.
I would guess that this is a very young Menuhin--perhaps 15?
Anyone know for sure?

things wrong about you judging by that sentence:
1) horrible grammar
2) heart of stone for not seeing the "soul" when everyone can
hey stop criticizing legends and take that stick out of your ass

I can say you that the "soul" is on.
I am basque and this performance is "quasi perfect"

@alexeyrojas Never heard before, any version. But know thw basque songs, and this is too fast. Many violinist confuse virtusism with speed.
