  • I'd tax your sexy ass!

  • U.S. Tax revenue - $2,1 trillion. Fed budget for 2011 $3,82 trillion ($1,65 trillion of new debt). National debt of $14,2 trillion. You could tax every living organism in America and it wouldn't cover 1 YEAR of Gov. spending...

  • As a libertarian, the only thing I can think of that I'd be more than willing to tax is marijuana. It has to be legal in order to tax it.

  • tax justin bieber

  • they went after smokers by taxing them 70 or 80% per carton. Now they're going after fat people. Your McDonald's hamburger will still be three dollars but there will be a $20 tax on it.

  • Tax the government!

  • Tax the wealthy. If anyone can afford it, they can.

  • tax is necessary because unemployment will at least rise to 20 percent of the population!!!

  • tax childbirth.

need less of the little leeches.

  • Taxing behavior is no different than class-warfare: everybody gangs up on eachother because the "tax doesn't effect them" then all of the sudden every realizes they are all getting screwed. The cigarette tax made it ok to tax behavior, thats how "progressive" policies work: it starts small, things get expanded and little did anyone realize THEY WERE NEXT! Now everyone gets taxed and the government NETS more money out of PRIVATE FREE MARKET. cig tax started at about a nickel

  • the radio especially 106.9 khits

  • Tax the liberals!!

  • tax religion

  • @TehShadower Tax entitlements.

  • Instead of placing "sin" taxes on alcohol and cigarettes, place them on adult entertainment (strip clubs and shops) and abortions.

  • ahah miley cyrus, good one

  • yeah, i would have to agree with you.

reality tv shows should be taxed.

they seem to do no good and are no more than mindless entertainment supporting popular bad morals even further (ex. jersey shore)

  • I think all gun crazies should be double taxed just because!

  • I would tax the crap out of politicians that think the solutions to problems are taxes.

  • @theloniousMac

    We should tax taxes.

  • lel, Miley should be taxed a minimum of 20 percent.

  • Professional sporting events should be taxed.

Who among us hasn't at some point or another been caught in a traffic jam surrounded by a bunch of pennant-waving yahoos? Tax 'em enough and maybe they'll stay home and watch it on TV.

And how about billboards? Is there anyone out there who couldn't live WITHOUT these eyesores? I say tax them out of existence.

  • Or we could just legislate them away like the state of Hawaii or some counties throughout the US in regards to billboard.

  • Everyone should really see a tax on bad behavior as a violation of your rights and is not much different than the government banning that behavior outright because banning it means suffering the negative consequences in a court of law while being taxed for the same bahavior means suffering the consequences financially. In either case, government is punishing you.

  • Lets put a tax on abortion. Something like $500 a head but wait...

We can't do that because that might violate a woman's right to choose. Its OK to violate a soda drinker's right to choose because drinking soda is a terrible thing to happen but abortion rocks! <---sarcasm

  • I am all for tax on soda and as you may know, NYC has made many gruesome commercial to try to make people slow down on their fat-drink. However, there is no apparent relation between tax on soda and HC - the former precedes the second. Taxing something bad is good :-) - addicted people will keep going (and pay for it / they won't be happy though), some will be saved from bad habits (a plus).

  • I agree on Soda tax...drink juices and ya won't pay tax. Cigarettes should have a 100% tax... want to puff away and make ppl sick other then you? One tax I'd agree with...CONSUMER TAX! This would cut all other taxes including your income tax. But should you consume anything, a 12% tax national would apply. OK ppl, lets all vote for the National one tax of 12% for all goods consumed.

  • Sorry. There is very little evidence for your assumption about making others sick.

  • I propose a tax on lawmakers be levied for every 1000 words in a bill that gets passed by them into Law.

  • Lori it's the same with health care insurance companies. They are raising the premiums on people that are over weight or smoke. Some people never smoke and get cancer. Some people are fat and don't have any health problems. They just want to make there pockets fat with our money. Maybe we should have a tax on taxes>>>>OH we already do. Great story Lori.

  • , But seriously, tax land and resource values and untax everything else. Actually works. Search Progress and Poverty for more info.

  • Obligatory crudeness...how 'bout a tax on ejaculates?

It could either be a way to collect an enormous tax base, or a way to promote frugality and celibacy. A win/win tax!

  • Wanna fix the "fat" issue at a government level? Stop federally subsidizing the massive overproduction of corn that lets companies like coke get their raw materials paid for by taxpayers, who then float the bill to undo that damage. The governement's food policies created our weight issues to begin with, they just need to stop what they're doing, not make new investments to counter it.

  • You need to move your teleprompter a leeeeeeeeetle to your right. It looks as though you're looking over my shoulder, Lori. Kinda creeping me out.

  • The Federal Gov. taxing is ridiculous. It is not for them to "fund" healthcare with our money. It is not for them to decide what we should and should not do.

The only things outside of the local and state realm should be a tax for a standing Navy and Air-force (for defense), and possibly the highway system. Most of this should be financed with fair tariffs / import taxes so that there would be virtually no Federal tax in peace time.

States could then decide their own fair taxes.

  • Fat people.

  • First of all id make prostitution legal and tax it.. its the oldest job in the world yet nothing has been done.. secondly.. Id probably tax any use of non ecological matter and process what so ever.. so that it counter balances and helps the research in finding new ways to save the planet

  • tax motorcylists who don't wear helmets.

  • Lori...this is your best video by far!!

  • Why is Miley Cyrus bad? No, really, did she do something wrong or what? No that im a fan or anyhting, but i never thought she was bad for society.

  • I think she was just trying to be funny but it's not a laughing matter. At least, this joke didn't evoke any laughter from me. Taxes are srs biz

  • Can we debate cutting government subsidies for corn instead? HFC is the culprit. It wouldn't make sense to increase tax on just soda. The HFC in sodas share a percentage of all HFC use in foods. You have to remember it's in many foods. It is ubiquitous. Have you seen King Corn?? Implementing this would effectively accomplish little in terms of health. To debate this would distract from a real debate.

  • Children.

  • Both of the guys that did a video response to Tax this are morons. Um and the gov't should not put a tax on sodas its more money out us the American people but, some tax won't hurt anybody the gov't has to have money flow to help all. Problem being they tax this. What's next what issue will be taxed next and when does enough become enough. I love my gov't but, when the gov't abuses its people and taxes continue that's the average hard worker will defy paying high taxes.

  • Fox News Tax

  • eliminate the federal income tax and the fed. tax imports and exports. introduce a universal VAT and the gaurenteed personal income.

Taxes have a very limited ability to control or influence behavior.

  • Tax the US congress! heavier taxes on BUSH!

  • You can't objectively show that MIley Cyrus has a negative impact. You can with soda and cigs. I'd be a fan if there were a large tax on liquor as well.

  • Probably not, there's a huge tax on smoking and people still smoke a lot as well.

  • MUNCH, SNARF, CRUNCH

  • i would also tax... tax

  • I'm Norwegian and pay 36% income tax. I also pay 25% tax on almost anything that I buy. I still have money left to spend on mememememe. Taxes are not such a cruel thing. You get used to it! Tax weapons and ammunitions....that would hopefully do some good!

  • DEFINITELY reality tv!

  • I would tax everyone who wanted to tax something

  • Clearly taxing something deemed to be "bad" has no effect on the decision to purchase said product. If it did tobacco and alcohol sales would be far lower and the government would then also be forced to legalize and tax other illicit drugs for the purpose of taxing in order to curb consumption. I don't think the problem lies within the tax system, it lies in the corporate consumerism that has infiltrated our nation, nay the world, in the last half century or so.

  • D y n o m i t e ! You sure know how to get people wound up. Thanks for being nice. :)

  • Stop making videos! You look like the octomom.

  • i would tax your clothes..

    lol i wouldnt

tax fast food, it would get even faster to make up the lossof 1 cent ber burger, the avarage american probably eats at least 3 burgers a week, so thats 12 burgers a month, 36 cents a month/per american and 36x250 000 000=health care for a lot of ppl, and all we did was add 1 cent to a burger...

  • @filipepw i forgot to mention that its about 1080000000 usd a year so 1,08 bilion...

and all we did was add 1 cent to a burger...

(i dont know how many americans there are but i think its about 250M)

  • @filipepw holy hell! there are 308,195,660 americans wich means if u add 1 cent to every burger in america u get 1331405251,2 usd/year for health care! now thats a lot of health right there

  • I love The Resident.

  • Yes taxing things more will lower their consumption, thats basic economics.

How about we just stop giving so many tax breaks to corn farmers? That'll make it so that High Fructose Corn Syrup isn't as cheap as it is now.

Our national weight gain correlates with the availability of cheap sugar like HFCS.

  • Is this not VAT. We pay VAT over here

  • this girl still doing her thing! cool cool..

  • tax religion

  • The the most obvious negative behavior we should be taxing is religion.

  • You know what you're right I sure as hell don't. lol

  • I would tax female drivers :)

  • Tax the stupidity of People :)

  • I think this woman dyes her hair. If not, I don't believe in the dingy-blonde theory any more. The logic tree in her head does not contain sense. She will say she agrees with one thing, but disagrees with another thing that is the direct outcome of what she agreed with in the first place. I'm taking her off of my subscription list. She is so confused. I can't imagine being married to or working with this woman.

  • There is one line in this video that pretty much sums up the liberal mindset toward freedom and taxes.."I don't drink sodas, so I am ok with it." Liberals support their own freedom and usually at the expense of others. As others have said, If sin taxes work then why is alcohol the #1 killer of people under the age of 35? If libs want to ban guns to save lives then why don't they ban the real killer, alcohol? Why? BECAUSE THEY LIKE ALCOHOL, they don't like guns, so its ok if they go bye bye.

  • kuhl - Liberals are not the ones who ran Enron into the ground. Liberals are not the ones who caused the banks to fail. Talk about welfare, bailing them out is welfare. Liberals did not cause Walstreet to collapse.

Conservatives are okay with corporate welfare and bailouts as long as it takes care of the train wrecks they cause.

I'm liberal and I love guns. I wouldn't mind if you shot your conservative ass off. Shithead.

  • @gal5131 Can supply the bullets for that? Gal tell me you watched 60 minutes tonight. If these guys saw how bad this one town has it they would retract their statement...oh wait, that requires an open mind and seeing the other side to things. I forgot the prerequisite of being conservative requires wearing blinders from any other truth.

  • Adams - I am just starting to watch 60 Minutes right now.

  • The point is not whether it would be good, bad or even work at all. The point is that the government has no right to tell anyone how to live and they should not be paying for anyone's medical care, except for military personnel. I am forced to pay income taxes, I pay property taxes, sales tax, capital gains tax, gas tax and whatever else tax that I can't think of. If that is not enough, then we have a management issue, not a revenue issue.

  • Seriously our government is a joke. Taxes pays for them. Why am I paying them? I hate them. They only help me when they have no other choice. That is not the government we should live under. Liquidation of the rich and the upper class is very reasonable when they keep screwing everyone underneath them. The government is a bunch of rich fat cats. I have had it with them all! Their dragging their feet with the public option! I am tired of excuses while the economy is in the toilet!

  • Adam - I absolutely agree with you. Redistribution of wealth sounds good to me. Afterall, we are the ones working for a pittance to make some bastard rich.

European-style Socialism is the way to go. University education available to everyone free. And national health care.

I would rather have fairness. Freedom is just a word they use to brainwash us into thinking we are all doing okay. Well, we aren't.

  • Tax our government!

  • Tax Religion!!!

  • rotfl tax the obese people only!

  • Fatty Food !

  • What abolutely ridiculous grounds for the tax though, I imagine a lot of people drink fizzy drinks, not all of them become obese, people have managed to drink fizzy drinks without becoming massively overweight in the past. Its merely showing a lapse in society that should be treated, not taxed.

  • stupidity, and no

  • @Danzarr huh?

  • Being from the highest taxed state in all the US I think taxes is a waste of time. I suggest the Darwin Card. The Darwin card is simple. Anyone can charge a high class person for being fucken stupid/a danger to our society, taken to court, and if found guilty gets a hole punched in there Darwin card. After 10 punches in their Darwin card they are publicly executed as an example of zero Tolerance. The rich would have to watch they say and the government would be held accountable by us!

  • Tax procreation!!!!!!! You know it makes sense!

  • it's not going to change anything. It's like when they put a tax on tobacco. people aren't going to stop because of the price, they'll just get annoyed and work around it. These kind of taxes are ridiculous. They might as well put a tax on candy because it's bad for you're teeth. Way to go big guys, you've gone and upset the children. Good job.

  • @LisaW0990 how did they "upset the children"?

  • I was being sarcastic. I meant for it to go along with the ridiculous taxes they could have like putting a tax on candy cause that would "upset the children" and they wouldn't even care.

sorry i didn't make that clear

  • Tax internet use.

  • @isselman2000 Shut up isselman2000. -1 for you.

  • Tax me putting my foot up your fucking ass.

  • How 'bout we tax people for stupid comments?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe if we were living in Nazi Germany or Commie Russia.

  • You reached as deep as you could into your barrel of intellectual words, phrases, thoughts and ideas & this was the very very very best you could come up with.

  • Nope, I can reach deeper.

    FUCK YOU.

  • I'm going to guess you are a liberal. Generally vulgarity flows most freely from their mouths. Seems as though there are pockets of non-intellectuals from all perspectives, but overall, statistics show liberals are less dignified and tolerant of others....evidenced by their filthy mouths and minds.

  • That has been my experience as well. I just laugh it off because some of the things they say when they get mad are just outright hilarious.

  • Thanks. :)

  • Merry Christmas, theresident, and Happy New Year!

  • An increase in tax has, historically, never increased the moral fiber of any nation; provided there is a definition of morality. The definition of morality is a basic understanding of right & wrong. Congress should levy a tax on anyone elected to the house or senate.

  • so basically people wanna tax whatever there dislikes are how about just eliminate taxes then you wont have to worry about it because when the dollar becomes worthless you will have to come up with different plan anyway

  • If the government really wants to raise some revenue then we should legalize pot and tax it. Use the money to help pay for health reform and drug rehab. But I also think that if we dropped the tax exempt status of religion then the US would financially be back in the black in no time. Religion in the US is big business and gets away tax free. I pay higher taxes because of it and I don't subscribe to any religion.

  • Oh come on, everybody has a religion! Or, if I may ask, what's your "...isim"?

  • Food that is bad for you needs to cost more than healthy food. it is hard to eat healthy when I can grab a big mac for half the price of chicken breast and a garden salad from a grocery store.

  • Such taxes are a way of taxing the poor. The poorest of non-filers drink booze, beer, or soda. Even the homeless pay too much in taxes, if they drink or smoke!

I would tax legislation by the word. A legislation tax for legislators. Hmmm...and that tax would double if it's tax raising legislation. Hmmm...a tax on taxing...

  • cigarettes, porn, alcohol and pop. All things that can be enjoyed in moderation, but shouldn't be taken in excess. I don't think higher taxes would stop people from unhealthy behavior, but it would help with much needed funds. We need to get out of the mentality that we can cut taxes and increase spending and some magical little fairy will somehow make the government run efficiently. While higher taxes may be annoying, it's still cheaper for the people than privatizing government programs

  • End the welfare state and their will be no reason to have these sin taxes.

  • There will never be a end to the welfare state. How do you think we keep the masses down?

  • I think you may have a point! So what do we do about it?

  • RELIGION

  • ^ they already own one half our our political system, anyways. Might as well pay up ^

  • Soda already has a recycling "tax" of sorts, and it ends up being sort of non-refundable in many areas, especially if you don't have a bottle return thing near you. I do drink soda and I am ok with it. :)

I suggest an obnoxious public phone usage tax. I remember hearing about plans to increase cellphone signals in the NYC subways, but could you imagine how terrible that would be? You would have a fat woman not only nearly sitting on you, but also gabbing on the phone to her friend. Yuck.

  • Miley Cyrus! lmao!

  • I want a tax on custom ringtones for cell phones. If I hear Lady GaGa blaring from someone's phone one more time I'm going to pierce my ear drums.

  • Internet memes are not bad for society! They connect people from different cultures with different beliefs to share a few lols. nom nom nom.

  • i agree in the miley tax. Miley is to culture as aids is to humans. She is like the ultimate mind control agent for young girls. That is the sick truth. Obesity is a huge problem that could be solved by encourging a less sendantry lifestyle. I mean the media can sway people to do anything they want. If we werent so damn wasteful we would be all better off even in this recession.

  • Eat the rich...

  • It may start with fizzy drinks but if you open this door then where do you stop? Will the government put a tax on everything that has a high fat or calorie intake?

  • I'd tax the Jews. For just being Jews. :D

  • im part jew and i find that funny!

  • Tax beer and make the rednecks suffer lol

  • "Diet" sodas like diet pepsi are not contributing to obesity as they have much less if any sugar and usually 0 calories. I love the taste of Diet pepsi and actually can't stand the taste of regular coke or pepsi. The problem with a soda tax for me is that I don't have any faith that the govenrment would distinguish the two and they would tax all soda including diet, and probably even try to tax gatorade and vitamin water etc all of which have a ton of sugar and calories more than diet sodas.

  • Once you open the door to this sort tax it will be very difficult to get the greedy bastards out of our pockets on food in general. I could even see them taxing Orange juice. I mean there is a lot of sugar in tropicana no? Whats next, ice creme, cookies etc. If they are serious they sould just tax fat people for being fat. why should people who regulate there vices be punished. Its another money grab bullshit tax scam.

  • hi hw r u?my name is Kamran .... wats ur beautifull name?

  • y would any1 want 2 live an "american dream" when americans r so unhappy with own state.. ha???

  • Comment removed

  • Lol.

    Tax stupid people.

    XD

  • I think it has less to do with shaping public behavior, and more to do with finding things to tax that have a chance of gaining public support.

    Great Vid btw.

  • "bad" is subjective. Heavy "sin" taxes make the government dependent upon our "sins" ...

Tax everything, at the same percent.

  • instead of taxing more.spend less.

  • How about taxing the amount of salt on junk food? It makes people want to drink more.

We could tax carbonation but it might be wiser to avoid taxing food and beverages.

  • I say bring in a new Tax to parents, when there children get out of line and cause havoc to others.

  • Place a tax on cigarettes. I smoke and I still think this is a good idea. I live in Virginia and I remember earlier in the year our gov. raised taxes pretty harshly. I also remember a lot of smoker griping about it. But I also remember those same smokers, me being one of them, that starting to smoke less and more conservatively. But on the flip side. If you tax something, especially as harmful to health as cigs, and more people stop. The gov won't be able to reap the weath off taxes anyway.

  • The most recent studies on the costs of obesity as negative externalities are costing the economy gobs, gobs, and gobs of money, not gobs and gobs. Gobsx3, not x2

  • i could go either way. but people dont get fat by just drinking soda, so mabey we should tax the FATTIEST fast foods, and mabey use the money to fund local grocery stores

  • Tax crack cocaine, ear hair, and bad drivers.

  • lmao, agreed

  • Lori could talk a lion into becoming a vegan. How about a flatulence tax? It'd generate lots of funds from EVERYBODY and be good for the environment!!!

  • i like miley cirrus

  • i only drink water

  • I know the raise in prices on corner cupcake have gone up and I've stopped buying them. I'm still big but go without eating them so idk.

  • tax all the shit that i DON'T buy

  • fine is a tax for doing something wrong. tax is a fine for doing something right.

  • Tax the government for all it's expenditures, tax Politicians for $4,000 luncheons, and tax the federal Reserve, which is as much owned by America as the Great Canadian Bagel chain of restraunts. Tax the people who are taking your money to line thier pockets.

  • Tax the fuck out of all important and force americans to provide for themselves, and create their own jobs!

tax the dollar menu at your local fat slob's fast-food drive-thru

  • tax the fuck out of all imports*

  • TAX on Govt for sucking economic situation...

  • Cars. I ate 2 whole pizzas, a can of beans 3 beers, 5 biscuits, Raman, and more today. But I climbed a mountain to take a picture yesterday. It was sunny so I biked 5 miles around the town. I eat shit and I know it but I get off my ass. Drive to the mailbox drive to the gym, move you fat ass American pigs.

  • Lets tax religions and see how fast the world is cured.

  • LOL right on bro. Truer words have never been spoken.

  • Let's tax ignorance and while we're at it make university free. No but seriously here in Canada we have raised the price of cigarettes and as a former smoker one of the reasons I stopped aside from it being bad for my health was that it was just too expensive so I do think taxing something to get positive results does work. Maybe taxing sugar rich products would be an idea.

  • Lets tax more things to encourage to encourage people to spend less causing companies to cut jobs because of less net profits. Typical ultra liberal thinking an dno wonder this country is in deficit.

  • I find it funny how Nixon introduced high fructose corn syrup (a main ingredient in soda) to United States to stave off a "food shortage" and now NY proposes a tax on the stuff 'they' introduced. Is anyone tired of this gov't's BS? What's next, tax everything with high fructose corn syrup ?Which is just about everything. Look on the backs of the labels next time you go food shopping.

  • Tax the war !!!!!!! =P

  • with you 100% on that!!

Tax the war and tax CEO bonuses with a 90% tax

  • Comment removed

  • I see some good choices below me, but my tax would cover most of the aforementioned objects. I would tax stupidity.

  • Tax the Church

  • Let's Tax Hollywood!!!

Movie tax in excess of the sales tax.

  • Originally, GOV only taxed "Profits"....are PROFITS bad????

Why does BIG BROTHER have to regulate individual behavior in the case where it ONLY AFFECTS that INDIVIDUAL...

Why can't individuals be held responsible for their own decisions...

It's just a mechanism for BIG BROTHER to get even BIGGER.... someday, we'll live in a CONCENTRATION COUNTRY-CAMP

  • Bottom line: You expend as many or more calories than you take in and you don't get fat.

Another bottom line: The government wants total control over your money, your time, and your life.

One last bottom line: They can kiss my bottom line.

  • Here in Iceland there is a high tax on candy and soda. the cost does encourage a lot of people to buy less of these products.

As for what would I tax in my home country (USA)...I would put a huge tax on guns and ammunition. I would place a tax on all "adult" entertainment and sex toys.

I understand what people say about the negative effects on industries. But if people don't drink Coke they will have to find something else which creates an expansion in some other drink market.

  • So you'd rob one pauper to pay another? You would rob Peter to pay Paul? How about no more taxes? And Congress can blow it out their butts.

  • So who should pay for government? Or is anarchy the best way to go, in your opinion?

I do believe that federal income tax in the US should go away considering that all of it goes directly to pay the national debt and not for any service or anything that the citizen gets in return. The taxes on businesses are the defining character of how much the military gets each year. So, those are a necessary evil unless we shitcan the armed forces.

  • Government should be on a limited basis. Enough of this handout when you do nothing to get it. Being born isn't enough. Anarchy isn't the key either. Corrupt government needs to be swept out. With a clean start, we can make things work for the people as they should. Military is definitely a must.

  • let'$ tax

1 all federal reserve notes 33%

    2 all greencards 5%

3 the paper that laws are printed on 17760%

    (only-politicians-pay)

    4 politically motivated/bad science studies 86%

  • obesity is also correlated with eating food

  • Why don't we just tax fat people?

  • Lori I agree with this tax. If the sodas are too expensive I wont buy it. This will allow me to not gain weight. The tax isnt for something bad for society but something that is unhealthy.

  • Why tax Tobacco?

  • Tobacco is a carcinogen when smoked. It doesn't just effect the person smoking it, it effects everybody is the immediate area.

But tobacco is highly taxed as it is, as well it should be.

  • I don't find second hand smoke pleasant, but I also know it isn't going to give me cancer.

In urban centers FAR more carcinogens are added to the air from car brakes, the wearing down of tires, and of course tailpipe emissions.

    You're a buffoon.

  • It is time ALL religious organizations get taxed. There is no reason they are not taxed when anything else is. Hell it would help out a lot due to the fact how much these corrupt organizations take in a year they should be required to document it and pay a percentage to the government for our benefit.

  • Hear Hear!

  • porn?

  • I think that soda consumption is just a habit of bad eating. Just because you get rid of soda doesn't mean that someone is going to stop going to the Mcdonald's or Burger King that is serving them.
