his eyes are brown due to liver failure< jees he must have been a hardcore alcoholic. Why the stuff is legal and available is an absolute disgrace. The stuff should be banned
God the desperation in his voice when he says "i want to pack it in" is so harrowing. reminds me of my alcoholic days and when i was desperate to stop but trapped in a cycle of anxiety and depression. you can tell his livers obliterated by the colour of his skin and the veins on his kneck. really disturbing stuff.
@jonesgerard Why do people always blame the individual for being selfish when it comes to alcoholism? Don't people understand that's why alcoholics turn away from help because they're afraid of people passing that kind of unfair judgment. Blame the alcohol which can lead to depression, anxiety cycles and disruption in brain chemistry which leads to this terrible mental illness.
@jonesgerard AA is no more than a self serving, ego massaging, cult, with a less than 3% success rate. I was in AA for 9 years. I finally got AND STAYED sober with the help of a good therapist.
Even with NO HELP AT ALL, 1.8% of Alcoholics can stop drinking for long periods.
If you think AA is ego massaging you might want to try working the 12 steps, the steps smash the ego, to those who have recovered , that will be obvious.
Give it time, you'll find , as I did, that its not possible to save your face and your butt.
@jonesgerard Blah Blah Blah. . . It's Mr. AA, & his collection of 60 year old homilies, quips, and platitudes. . . Thank God modern medicine and Psychotherapy have moved forward, while AA still ferments in its' 97% failure rate. . . . After 3 weeks in AA you'd found a bunch of similar dysfunctionals, and felt right at home with your dogma riddled buddies :)
@GuntherMalek If you think science has found the answer, bring it forth and claim your nobel prize. I recovered, the other 97% want to stay sick, thats their problem.
R.I.P Skippy you beautiful angel. This video made me cry. Scunthorpe seems so different without you... It's just not the same. Square is so empty. I'm sorry we didn't get to get married in the end :'] Lewis xx
omg :'( skippy man cant beleve you gone only saw u last week walking down my road i couldnt talk tho i was driving and didnt know what direction you went :( i rember u forever and the time you scared the crap out of me wen i was looking after lee and leighanns flat you came in and we chatted for ages. good night i will never forget you no one will rest in pice mate good bye :'(
r.i.p mate u will be missed by my family and yours u were very brave mate all these time u told me u wanted to be with u boy know i hope u in abetter place with him curtis very up set he wont c u again but i know he will always remember u mate god bless u and u family r.i.p skippy xx
to our beloved Skippy(Paul) my dad wants to say a few words "scunthorpe will never be the same without you,Skippy, you'll always be in my heart and mind,i'll miss you always, your a brother of a life time,I'll miss you so much love from your brother mick and his family (Tracy,Danielle,Katie,Jason) xx
i will always miss you skippy from your beloved brother mick i cnt believe i wont see you again now ur with ur son creig now and nobody can hurt u anymore i'll miss you r.i.p paul xx
With personal tragedy people react in different ways in order to try and cope, yes alot of people hit the bottle in the short term but eventually accept that love ones are gone. I hope I never have to face the lost of a child as I don't know how I would cope but I'd like to think after the initial grief and trauma that I could carry on with life, they're gone but not forgotten. Sadly Paul seems to have never got over this and has spiralled into a state where he many never recover. Best of luck.
soon mate well it has to be ready for the film festival in september but has to be posted off for judging etc this week by monday so will be around finished around saturday im just adding the finishing touches now. its only gonna be ten minutes in length though.

Great video - - anything that helps people with drinking too much

Paul needed therapy & family bereavement counselling. AA would've just made him sicker.

The film maker should consider attending an open AA meeting, its full of guys like this ...who got well. They will explain what alcoholism is.
The booze is just the symptom, the underlying cause is selfishness.
Pure selfishness is fatal.
Too bad the public doesn't understand how very sick an unrecovered alcohoilics mind is.

Pretty sad no-one could be bothered to take him to an AA meeting, its free and it works.
Did they put him face down in his coffin, so you all could keep kissing his arse?

@GuntherMalek I was dry for 5 yrs, stark raving sober , after 3 weeks in AA I was recovered.
So how many steps did you work.?
I had a very good psychiatrist, the honest ones will tell you to try AA.
All they can do is tell you how sick you are, they have no solution.
My doctor was shocked at how fast I got to the truth and got free.
And I didn't need happy pills any longer, there is no God pill.
