  • GOD BLESS U

  • how do you become Doula?? Someone please help. I really want to be one!

  • i really like this trailer

  • this looks amazing. at this point in my life, i do not want children, but if i ever do, i would want to go this route. i swore, i would want a c-section if i ever had to give birth but after learning of the various methods and that birth can be seen as something beautiful rather than just largely equated with pain, i see it as something so different now. i love how doulas connect with the mother, especially while she is in pain, looking in her eyes, calming her and helping her so. amazing.

  • @christentze Thank you for your lovely comment! You are not alone in thinking c-sections are the way to go these days - sadly it's how a lot of people think birth should be. The whole purpose of the Doula! film is to show parents-to-be that there is an alternative - one that has been practiced for hundreds of thousands of years! It is very possible to have a gentle birth and women need to know that they have a right to one!

  • This is beautiful, I also am a Doula, since 1980 and so are my 6 daughters it is a life style for our family, my 2 sons have helped with births as well. what I love is the miracle, God is creating another wonderful life that we are privileged to be in their creative energy space. It is complete love energy..... Fantastic Thank you for sharing. We are building an all green self sustaining school campus in Fiji. I hope that we are able to place a free standing Birthing Center there.

  • @fijidreamscometrue Wow. Thank you. What a beautiful post and a fantastic story about yourself and your wonderful family. I wish you all the best for your Birth Centre.

  • I've heard of Doulas but never quite understood what that meant. After viewing this documentary I knew this was for me. I really like knowing everything on a topic from A to Z before I try anything, and this film has opened a window to Doulas and what that all entails. Wonderful film, I think everyone thinking about having a baby or already a parent should view this.

  • as a young doula, this is VERRRY exciting!!! looks awesome :)

  • wow! I cant wait to see this! I am a doula and I love good videos on birth and especially about doulas! Cant wait!

  • i want a doula, but there arent any in richmond that accept medicaid :(

  • I am a Doula, im Dying to watch!!!!

  • i look forward to this

  • Looking forward to seeing this. Are any hospital births shown in the film or is it all home births? (I adore home births, just hoping to see both, since a doula's role can be so different + necessary in the hospital.)

  • @ablackwo One of the births featured in the film starts at home, but ends up at the local hospital.

  • Bought tears to my eyes. (from Mum of 5 and soon to be doula student.)

  • Wow, that looks INCREDIBLE! Man, I totally want her there when I have a baby!! :)

  • :-D aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! this looks GREAT!!!

can hardly wait to watch it & share with people.

    xox

  • I love it

  • Oh my gosh - I can't wait to see it!!!! :) How exciting! Will it be available to order via the net? Living in Australia...

  • @carydaron09

Due to the exciting amount of interest in the film, we are going to try to make it as widely available as possible! We'll put more news of the release on the web site

  • LOVELY!

  • At 1:19 brought back memories of how our 3rd child was born!

I can't speak more highly of my support person "JC". During labour, she was incredibly attentive to my needs and wonderful support for my husband as well.

Thru her birth classes, many women have gone on to become doula's - isn't it amazing what effect one person can have on another person and the decisions they make in life!

More power to you JC and all Doulas!!

  • the law does not state that a midwife has to be there for a Doula to be able to attend. Most Doulas prefere there to be a midwife, and nearly every organisation will very strongly recomend that a Doula only attend a birth with a midwife there.

So long as the mum is hiring the Doula are clear that the Doula is a non-medical person it's fine. It's when a Doula is expected to be a medical person that it becomes illigal.

  • Where is the midwife during this birth Doulas trained in Australia are required to only assist Birth's if a Midwife is present.

This doula arives at the clients house on her own gess I will have to watch the movie to find out where the Midwife is.

  • @DoulaDevotion

All the births featured in this film are attended by midwives, but as this is a film about the role of the doula, the focus is most specifically on the doula. Just to set your mind at ease, midwives do appear in the film.

  • @realbirthstories Thank you I recived an email from Toni (film maker) and she does have Midwifes present at the births.

  • Haha sorry...just noticed the link at the end of the video when I watched it the second time ;D

  • Where will this movie be available? When will it be out? : ) : ) : ) I'm in Canada and would LOVE to be able to buy it!!

  • @amycassonisonutube We are planning on bringing out a North American version in the near future and we'll let you know as soon as we have a release date. Really glad you liked it!

  • Hurrah! So exciting - can't wait to watch it in full!
