It's 3 in the morning, I have no job, and I'm watching the Hardy Boys on YouTube, having flashbacks to my childhood in the disco era. Is this the end or a new beginning?

It is somewhat distressing to reflect that Shaun Cassidy is now 52, Parker Stevenson is 58 (as is Pamela Sue Martin), Melanie Griffith is 53, Dorothy Malone is 86 and Lloyd Bochner is dead (he died in 2005 at the age of 81). And that on Tuesday, May 3 I shall be turning 61.

I think THIS was the ONLY Hardy Boys episode that I got scared of after watching it-especially the eerie music that's played at certain points. Of course, I was only 7 or 8 when this episode (first) aired.

The house in this episode looks like the old Psycho house as well as the munster's house

@patty42rocks It is the same house as the one in Psycho. This is what I found on the internet: The house used in this episode is the famous "Psycho" house used in the Alfred Hitchcock movie. The porch was extended on both sides for use in several TV series and was seen in three different episodes of The Hardy Boys including this one.

I remember this episode well and enjoyed it thoroughly. And the theme music is really superb.

One puzzle about the lynch mob - how come all they carry are flashlights? You'd think they'd have sticks, pitchforks, guns or sort of weapon.

I like seeing these old shows but I can also see hoakie looking parts of that would not fly in today's shows if done now. For starters, the house looks exactly like the psycho house.  I think it likely is the same one. If you want an ounce of believability in the story (fictional or otherwise), at least get a different spooky house. I thought Melanie Griffith's acting was bad. I actually thought she'd already been in movies before this series was shot, but maybe not.

Hoakie production maybe, but I can still see them through the eyes of the nine year old I was then. Ahhh the sweet view of nostalgia. As for Melanie Griffith I disagree, I think she was a believable spooky character.

@Mitsy1212 Remember, this show was designed for CHILDREN not adults! I definitely would like to see an adult version but doubt it would ever be done-not too many adults would admit to watching the Hardy Boys especially males LOL.
