  • mountain lions are NOT big cats

they are big cats only in size and if you cross a mt. lion w/ a pantherine or "true" big cat its offspring will be sterile and look deformed as well as having a short life span....

  • Its debated if its a 'big cat' or not. Some scientist say that the four cats in the genus panthera are the only big cats. And some say that the cougar, cheetah, snow leopard, and clouded leopard are "big cats", so its your opinion.

  • I've seen 2 in my neighborhood (scottsdale, Mcdowell Mountain, very populated) Last week my best friend's dog was taken from the backyard by one. If you ask me, theyre becoming a serious problem.

  • Don't leave your dogs out.

  • Can someone tell me this, please: cougars are rare in Arizona? How many cougars are there in Arizona (estimated)? Are mountain lions more popular in the northern or in the southern Arizona?

THANK YOU very much!!!(excuse my English) :)))))))

  • I have lived in southern arizona all my life and i live in a city of 1,000,000.

But if there was a part of the city where ML would show- it would be where i live. Close to the base of the mountains in a suburbian area away from the metropolotian wasteland.

There 'have been sightings' that set off the community up here- (elementary schools obsessivley not letting the kids out of sight)

But i have never seen one or known anyone who has seen one. For what thats worth

  • hmmm.. ok some help here plz :P my english isn't really that good but isnt mountain lion same thing cougar just another word for it??

  • yes

  • Yes, Cougar, Mountain Lion and Puma are different names for the same animal.

  • yes the mountain lion and the cougar are the same animal there are over 40 names for the cougar

  • the can kill you its true

  • well i live in south dakota in the hills past rapid city near rockerville i see lots of evidence of them around and i have seen them a couple of times in the area.

  • can mountain lions can kill humans?

  • Um well they can kill a 200+ lb deer. yeah they can, theres always shows on discovery n stuff like "i was bitten" most of the mountain lian attacks end in the victims scalp being nearly ripped off.

  • yea. espeacially kids. they go after the smallest and weakest person. I am 13 and i know i gotta watch my ass when i go hunt near a mountain region.

  • Just remember that if you get attacked, there's still a good chance you'll get out of it if you keep your wits about you...although that's surely easier said than done. I know I wouldn't want to get tackled by one though.

  • there are also mountain lion in orange county california and in utah.. i have the highest respcet for them. they are so beautiful i love to look at them tho i wouldnt want to have a inconter with a wild mountain lion knowing how powerfull they are and knowing what they can do.

  • Beautiful cat.

  • There some Mountain Lions in TEXAS. They seem to shy away from humans in most cases. I wouldn`t ever provoke one. Then again I would never roam the Mountain Ranges without a 30-06 -------->TEXAS---------

  • mountains lions still exist in arizona. we have them here on the outskirts of Las Vegas, in Red Canyon and Mt Charleston. They are very rare to see. I consider myself lucky to have got to see a track of one 2 weeks ago in Mt charleston in the snow

  • I saw one in upstate new york when I was in college (6 years ago). It was cool as hell! It was chasing an arctic hare and I just remember its HUGE tail flipping around and it was a big tawny colored cat. Ill never forget it!

  • Your sighting was especially rare considering it is believed that Mt. Lions do not occupy the state of NY.

  • favourite animal ever

  • i thuot mountin lions wore brown

  • some are .. they blend in to their habbitate so it makes it easyer for them to capture their prey. they are so beautiful tho id love to see on im person ... but the ones that are in a zoo and .. wounder if calm ( one in bakersfield california has any) ... id like to bottle feed a baby mt. lion

  • Mountain lions are so cool! They are better than any other animals!

  • mountain lions are totally different from jaguars... jaguars live in the amazon jungle in america and looks like a leopard and mountainlions live mainly in the andes mountains.. i think they not longer live in arizona...

  • I think you are thinking about the Snow Leapord. Mountain Lions do live in Arizona,

not in the Andes Mountains according to what I know. However, they are rare in Arizona.

They live in Northern California, Florida, some other northern states and in Canada. Different areas call them different names though.

  • Mountain lions are not rare in AZ. I live here and they are all over the place.

  • they are everywhere in arizona.

  • mountain lions r cute but there mean

  • lol ur like a teacher telling the class a little story about the animal...

  • What's a havaleena?

  • A type of wild pig

  • YOu won't hope they make a comeback if one's stalking you.

Please don't forget that sentimental music doesn't fully appreciate the cat.

  • Mountian lions are not jaguars people..They are a different breed of cat...

  • hes right, jaguars are not cougars/mountain lions, jaguars are bigger, a different color, and dont live in the same areas....The only thing I dont understand is how they play this soft elevator music when talking about mountain lions.. they are vicious killers.. stalking prey and killing it when least expected.. I am thinking about going to Arizona soon and I am scared shitless of them.. even though they usually dont kill humans.. they could easily.

  • They only 'viciously' kill to live. I've been stalked by one in Vancouver National Park in Canada on a vacation, it was spooky, yet it left once I made a noise.

  • and your both wrong Mountain lions are closely related to jaguars

  • there are jaguares in arizona? i thought they were only found in south america.

  • not normal but yes somtimes

  • mountain lions are not jaguars. look it up

  • Very rare sightings in extreme South East Arizona. They cross the border from Mexico according to Arizona Game and Fish.Have not read anything recently about their status.

  • Beautiful great cats we need to save them. Jaguars are now making a comeback in AZ and NM I hope their numbers increase they are beautiful too. 5 stars.

  • Beautiful they are,no question. But NEVER think beauty and lethality are mutually exclusive.

Be careful in the woods. They don't play!

  • 2nd comment! Cool video!!

  • yes first comment again.
