Not ashamed to admit I cried when I heard Coop had died. Roasted my heart on a few occasions when he ripped my beloved Celtic to pieces but God was he a joy to watch. If it had been a Brazilian who had scored that goal in the Dryborough Cup we'd still be raving about it. RIP Davie Cooper..Scotland and Rangers footballing GENIUS!

I remember standing at Hampden on the terraces as an Aberdeen fans and seeing Dave Cooper standing over that freekick and having a sinking feeling in my stomach even before the smashed it into the top corner! What a player he was, died on my birthday as well.

Davie Cooper ! Simply the best left footed player in the world in the eighties , his skill and quick thinking on the ball was second to none . watching this clip makes me laugh at how so called world class players like rooney and ronaldo can command such high price tags. Makes you wonder just how much Super Cooper might have been worth if he was in his prime today .

They don't make them like that anymore. Not just the most gift man ever to wear a Rangers shirt, but died young teaching young lads how to play football. Inspiration doesn't seem to cut it for me.. In Cooper we trust. Nice to see you Celtic boys appreciating him, and nice to know some of us enjoy the rivalry for the right reasons.

A Joy to watch, the most talented player of his and many other generations. I remember going to watch him play for Clydebank before he signed for the Gers, even then you knew he was special. Apart from making many goals, he scored some of the best, the Keepy up goal against Celtic was incredible, the free kick against Aberdeen was sensational but the penalty he scored against Wales to put us in the world cup finals was class, with loads of bottle to take that responsibility.
