You guys are so intelligent. It's amazing how detailed you get just a day after the fights. These breakdowns are worth a tv deal. I would tune in every week to see you guys breakdown some of the best ground battles in history. I almost can't believe you guys just post this stuff for free. But I guess that's the Gracie way. It's great to see the love for the sport has only gotten stronger through the generations.
#explosivmode that guy who answered you is wrong. look at marcelo garcia, arguably the best jiu jitsu player in the world and he is a short guy with small limbs. it all depends on style, or body type jiu jitsu. being short has its advantages and disadvantages and so does being tall. it just depends on style. if anyone tells you you cant do jiu jitsu for being short then they are very ignorant
great stuff. is jiujitsu more suitable for lengthy people or gives them the advantage? cuz im a short stocky guy and from what ive read, people with this built are better off learning judo for grappling.
Judo would suit you better, considering you have more centralized power and lower center of gravity but there is short BJJ'rs that are successful, look at Jeff Monson and Rhadi Ferguson so it really is what you would prefer to learn.
@JULIOKILLZ gracies have evolved man. look at some of the instructional shit they have and their teaching methods and shit. rener is big into ways to teach jiu jitsu just as much as jiu jitsu itself. that said I still think the its good to see diff techniques from diff people.
@JULIOKILLZ what are you talking about man? Roger is the best BJJ player in the world. And the rest of the family ... they were never the most athletic, just the most technical. So now they're mostly using their minds and spreading the technique. Love this stuff.
@JULIOKILLZ I love Garcia and I think it's mostly a matter of opinion between those two as to who is the best. They both have unbelievable records, but at way different weights, so it's hard to compare them. I just don't think you can say BJJ has evolved past the Gracies when Roger has won his weight class and placed at least 2nd in Open Weight for the last *7 years* in a row at the world championships.
No love for your relative Roger?? that rnc he got on prangley was sick, especially the way he took the back after prangley tried to flip off the cage.
anyone who says all gracies are arrogant doesn't know what they're talking about
twice now i've seen rener give props to eddie bravo and sakuraba. he's not oblivious, he knows that his family isn't invincible and has been beaten before. but he accepts it, which makes GJJ one of the most deadly and respected arts on the earth
Awesome breakdown. Didn't even realize the complexity of everyrthing that went on with Jones and Bader. Crazy stuff. I just saw a gullotine, you guys don't miss a thing, seeing every little detail.
wow MAN!!! I AM FROM PHILIPPINES AND I LOVE HOW YOUR VID. I was amazed when you mentioned a certain student from philippines on the last part. I am from cebu, philippines and there is a school who teaches bjj - he is from fabio santos school(a student of the gracie family). hopefully you can visit cebu and have some short bjj courses. be willing to join! :)
the cowboys guillotine was nasty, probably worse then Bones
Thanks for all your breakdowns, eddie bravo charges for these types of videos its pathetic , although he does have kool moves, you cant charge for little movies, as you say it promotes the discipline, and I must admit I am becoming fascinated with BJJ now thanks to both eddie's vids and yours. So thanks alot guys , Its a pitty you dont have any places in brisbane australia
I've always wanted to see someone breakdown Minotauro's jiu-jitsu flurry that finished Tim Sylvia after Sylvia had been beating on him for 2 rounds at UFC 81.
Another great breakdown, and good mention of that Marcelo style guillotine that Jones tried. When I saw him do that hop over for the back, I was screaming like crazy. That move was so slick.
