I found myself goin back to being a little kid listening to a great teacher. It alway's took a special teacher to hold my attention in class that's why i alway's watch your video's. Thank you Adam
man adam i think i'm playin sharp then i hear u wail...!$#!@$!@# lol...so i suck at overblows...i particularly would love to be able to hit md's "whammer jammer" high hit. i've tried but i'm stuck in the lower octave.
I loved reading that book when it first came out. I went to read it again a while back and couldn't find it. I think I let someone borrow it and they never gave it back. That bastard. It had a hard cover and everything.
Inspiring, indeed! My first night in NYC was in Columbia's dorms. Then I started working as a bycicle taxi driver. My grandfather lived in the corner of 104th and B'way, and my love for harmonica started when I was about 8. I started playing in 98, but I've never gone as far... Your book on Harlem, blues, NYC, harmonica and street life will be great to read this season, and I just found it in Amazon. Thanks Adam! Greetings from Mexico!
Im going to buy this book next year when i have some money to spare (poor student). Anyway, do you know if this is sold on any Swedish sites, or some site with free shiping?
Don't know why I waited so long to Google your CV, but I am envious that you have made a career out of something that you were so passionate about from before the age of 16. My career "bulb" didn't turn on until sophomore year of undergrad, and my blues "bulb" didn't kick in until after post-doc and kids. Peace Adam, and Thank You! I Will be getting a copy of this book!
I'm getting Mr Satans apprentice for christmas. I didnt realise before but Sterling Magee was very popular in the UKs 'northern soul' scene in the 70s.
You're quite right. In 2001 or so, I exchanged emails with somebody who wanted to include several of Sterling's songs on a "northern soul" anthology. It came out in 2002, I believe.
absolutely brilliant!!!!!! cant wait to read your book !!!! what an amazing story.. i have my own just like that but mine is with building pro audio speakers, home theater and hi-fi audio .. the mentoring is the most awesome thing when you are given the opportunity to have your mentors seek you out among the crowds when they know you have the spark
Pretty sweet, with the images and background sounds, you should do an audiobook. I still plan on getting the book, but that would be a trip to listen to in the car
Adam - I hope you remember me (I saw you at the Turning Point in NY State last August and posted about how great you and Mr. Satan were that night - and you read it and let me know!). I went to that show because I had read your second book (which I wish I had brought with me and got your autograph on it!) - but I couldn't find your first book... UNTIL NOW! This really is great news and thanks SO much for talking about it and letting us know it's .... BACK!!
When is the audio (you reading) version coming out? I could read it but the way you read it infers so much.
Thanks

There's an old saying. "When the student is ready, the master will appear."
Is there any finer example than the story of how you met Nat?
