  • Those 109s almost looked real.

  • looks like a high school play backdrop. I thought the Germans had good color cameras? Even their gun cameras are no match to our color films of stafing etc. ? What gives, were the films stolen and kept secret or something.

  • This is really well done! Who needs Hollywood?!

  • a few month ago i read the book - i try to get a german one but this fails...only one in the web was to get (more than 120 euro) and so i found one in amazone england for a few euros - it was (for me as a german) a great worth-while experience to read it..

  • amazing production :)

  • Bravo! I was sceptical at first, but after watching it, I think this is an excellent video, which does justice to Knocke's facinating written account. Very well done!

  • Oh! May God bless all those men of the Mighty Eighth Bombers who flew and died against the German fighters...Especially to the first Liberator that was taken down by Knoke!!!

  • I fly IL2 1946 and COD, and I am amazed at this movie. It blends both virtual reality and real life into one coherent story. Bravo!!!

  • never knew bombs where used during ww2 against earial targets

  • wow awsome work!

  • I HOPE ALSO TO SEE BATLES ( FLYING BOATS AND DESTROYERS )

  • I HOPE TO SEE IMAGES WITH NIGHT FIGHTERS AND NIGHT NAVAL BATLES !

  • Didn't these folks sit on their parachutes as part of the flight harnesses? This is excellent work. Good job.

  • Amazing, you really give the History channel a challenge!

  • Really great work, i got so carried away that, for a second, i thought "man that looks exactly like IL-2" ! Awesome narration too.

  • isnt this il2 strumovik?

  • ils etait quand meme gonfles les allies, aller on allemagne sans escorte, pour les chasseurs ME109 c`etait du tir aux pigeons!!!

  • my grandma´s dad was BF109 pilot and crashed in Lyon

  • Great video!I was wondering why the Luftwaffe had chosen the Messerschmitt as the main fighter plane? It was a training plane at first ,after that they converted it to a fighter plane. They had very good engineers and a good engine manufacturer. Why didn't they work on a better plane like FW190.?

  • sorry but, he says in 2:54 - 3:06 minutes?

perdón, pero que es lo que dice en el minuto 2:54- 3:06?? quién me puede ayudar?

  • i read the book

  • Never understood the inertial starter. Why waste all that weight?

  • Awesome! Well done! I just saw a 109G at the Wright Patterson AFB Museum, what a perfect combination of sinister/beautiful lines.

  • Yes, dear american friends..thats how your movies feel for the rest of the world *smiles*

  • whant the name song ?

  • I have to agree with "mav3r1ck69". Very nicely executed, this was entertaining to watch!

  • my grand grand some grandad was a pilot in the german army. he flew a bf 109. his dads grandad lived in estonia then his dad moved to germany. he became a pilot there. after the war he came back to estonia.

  • That was a nice work. Awesome. But I have my doubts that the J- and H versions of the B-24 Liberator was yet in service in 1943. 1944 would match better.

  • @academicusprecarius Well spotted, you are correct, the 8th USAF used the D version in 1943 (without the nose turret). Unfortunately the flight simulator did not have this version available

  • Very good indeed. It's the first time that I've heard of dropping bombs on the formations

  • Brilliant. I read the book just recently. Full of totally AMAZING stories of what went on!

  • kill all these bombers !

  • filmed using a greeb screen.

  • Frontalne ataki byly bardzo skuteczne. Lepsze skutki od bombardowania formacji aliantow. Bombardowania Niemcy zarzucili.

  • My grand father was a BF 109 G 14 Pilot.

  • @Trance681 Is he still alive today?

  • @biltongbru No... :( He flew with Erich Hartmann.

  • @Trance681 My salute and deep respect to your grandfather !

  • welche Maschine

  • Wow! Your films are awesome, bravo! Please keep them coming!!

  • where are they arizona?

  • STRIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sehr gut gemacht!!

  • So just out of curiosity, did anyone in our airforce or UK's airforce get charged for war crimes? For bombing civilian targets, killing millions of German civilians.

  • That is just impressive madness, by all contendors. Well, now days the crisis are maintaining its financial form. The germans ´re just helping the rest of Europe. At least no one is thinking about bombing the hell out of their home land...

  • @rblank1234 :D

  • Amazing.

  • Superb work!!!

  • This is beautifully done. I've been intrigued with the Luftwaffe, Heer, and Waffen SS since childhood, and to see you put together this film using 1946 (I play this also) and meld it is a feat in its own. I even showed this to my father, and he was blown away. Thank you for the fine film. Also, I'd hate to ask but what music did you choose when the pilots sortie at about 1:30? I'd really be delighted to have that play for my own sorties.

  • I never heard "bombs be dropped on formation" by ME 109, how could this be possible? With that load you must be above the formation at what feet? It is impossible (I think) to go that big with that load. Then comes the timer release which calculating the distance and time is hunky dori. I think this part was a lie or wishful thinking.

  • @healer378 Knoke " invented " this method and they had limited successes. The Bf109's had to climb high above the bombers at a certain altifude difference and then drop the bomb with a time delayed fuse. When the bombers were eventually escorted all the way by fighters the Germans discarded the Bf109 bombing because of vulnirability to these fighters caused by the heavy bomb.

  • @biltongbru

That is correct, germans did come up with interesting ways to bring down bombers, including ramming into them Bombers

  • @biltongbru The further plan of bombing bomber formations has been to use Thermobaric bombs, also as anti-aircraft artillery granates, because one of these bombs (ca. 50kg) could take heavy effects in ranges up to 4 kilometer. The project is also known as "Lufttorpedo - Airtorpedo", developed by Mario Zippermayr. Even today Thermobaric bombs are the biggest non nuke bombs (Moab).

  • @healer378 This was indeed tried By Heinz Knoke with good results. He wanted to try this method of bombing the Möbelwagens (Furniture Vans=four engined bombers). The bombs had delayed action fuses, causing explosions in the center of the bomber formations. The Luftwaffe also tried the opposite, flying under the bomber formations and shooting upwards with fixed mounted guns in a 65-90 degree angle. This worked also, as a bomber had few guns shooting downwards. This was called Shräge Music. (Jazz)

  • @healer378

    think twice!!!

They used bombs which explode nearby heat,

the timer in these bombs turned themselves on after40 seconds,

so that the bombs dont explode underneath the ME 109...

    this whas used very often!!!

    I can tell.!!!

  • @Weibkoln You little knuckle heads make me laugh. Thermal (heat) seeking (infrared detection) technology didn't exist during WWII. A little more READING and less uneducated commenting would serve you well.

    MAR, M.D.

  • @drmarosen

    Whahhahahaaa

    So these pilots lie??

    ...

    whahahahaaahaaa

  • @Weibkoln No the pilots don't lie! Some of the people watching the videos are complete idiots. But then they TRY to comment anyway, using facts that they make up............but fail because they're completely clueless. Get it? No, probably not there Welbkoln. It must be hard for you, having to live with a fart for a brain.

  • @healer378

    And BTW;

I did not evin imagined the HEAT SEEKING ROCKETS which we used against bomber formations!!!

    It really worked!!!

    :)

  • @healer378

And did you ever heard something about nuclear Rocket bombs, launched from the ground into the sky,

20.000kg explosions inside & around the bomber formations!!!

The American bomber crews were not only watching for German gaggles & targets,

but they were also seeking the inkoming 20.000kg anti air Nukes!!!

    ^^

  • @healer378

We had less people & weapons remember!!!

So that makes the enemy (us) use more effective weapons to catch you up...

-a lots of weapons which are the world use now, look very very simular to the weapons we used in these days!!!

Believe it or not!!! (it doesnt even matter when you dont believe it) we cant chance the past......

  • @healer378

No, its true. Bombs were dropped to many formations by Heinz Knoke and they did cause serious damage to the bombers. But I dont think that Knokes war memoirs are called "I flew for the Fuhrer" I have read the Finnish translation of the book and its titled "The great hunt." In the book Knoke says that he didnt fight for any political party or fuhrer, he fought for Germany.

  • @healer378 : Well that could work but in fact later on there were "swarm buster" grenades /rockets fired from the wings of the fighters....

  • lol the B17 MGs sound like the B.A.R. from brothers in arms hells highway :D ouh man thats an excellent movie :) well done ;D

  • @haloha3 I am impressed with you identifying the B.A.R. sound; I recorded it exactly as you said from BIA HH because it sounds so superb!

  • @biltongbru This is absolutely first class, a brilliant effort, very clever. I have heard of Heinz Knoke's book, I will definitely be purchasing a copy. Well done!

  • Great job , well done !!

  • Very good mate, great Graphics and great animation.

    So very realistic!!!

  • Cool video. Unbelievable that these bombers can be destroyed so easily

  • Клип хороший! А вот актёры... На главную роль могли бы найти физиономию получше :) Какой-то маминькин сынок! И причёска не соответствует тому времени!

The Clip good! But here is actor... On main role could find the physiognomy получше :) Some маминькин sonny! And hairstyle does not correspond to that time!

  • hehehehehehehe il2 sounds and planes

  • Mate I never actually thought that I would be interested in something put together in this way but great job, actually bloody excellent.

  • @mav3r1ck69 thanks!

  • @biltongbru

If I may ask, Do you remember what song is used on the take-off scene, believe it starts at 1:36 and ends at 2:47? I've heard it before, but cannot remember where it is from. Thank you.

  • Well done... Outstanding video work!

  • That was a top notch vid one of the best of its tipe on utube.Narrating the tale as if we were using ower imagnesion to perceive a story being told to use, excellent

  • omg !!!!

  • German @£?!/-2"

  • 9 pessoas ficaram com ciúmes pq não conseguem faer um filme igual ou melhro que este

  • I though this was going to be another boring il2 movie, but I was pleasantly surprised, it was a great piece of movie making, in fact it the best I have ever seen and based on fact, well done 5*****.

  • I had no idea that a film had been made about this.

  • Vultures fly for the maddog...Abutres que voavam para o cachorro louco do hitler.SENTA A PUA neles P51 the cadillac of the skyes

  • 50mm cannons: that is seriously dangerous!

  • did you make this video biltongbru?it was execellent and as good as any show on the history channel

  • Esos tipos no parecen Alemanes... que pobre....

  • Dude nice job. Very engrossing.

  • This stuff is awesome, man!!!!You should make some vids about the Stuka Pilot Rudel.

  • I' am impressed! Well job. I would like see more of these video in the near future...Especially Novotny kommando with awesome Me 262... :D

  • Great video

  • The high budged history/discovery channel docs, didnt give me such chills.

Awesome stories.I enjoyed it very much , thanks.

  • Simply amazing due to the compositing work. Excellent job. Probably the neatest IL-2 based film I have seen in years, if not ever.

  • fantastic work....

  • Impressive video!!! 5/5!!!!

  • Suberb work, I have read the book and enjoyed this film immensely! keep up the good work!

  • Very well done biltongbru. War is a dramatic and often ugly business. This makes the point rather well. That people on either side should celebrate the death and suffering of others illustrates how crude we can be. Narrator South African?

  • @jakob252 Yes, the narrator is SA but was suppose to sound like a German speaking English! lol

  • Pretty cool vid. I have to read the Knoke book ! I don't like Darth Vader tone on the pilot lips at all.

  • Comment removed

  • Did he say 50mm cannon?

  • @D3ECONX 30 mm canon

  • WTF SOME ON MADE THIS VIDEO USING IL 2 1946 or fb?!

  • @SeRgA123456789 IL-2 1946

  • DAMMIT that was a good video!!! Excellent work!

  • @Bagheera2 thanks!

  • Great job!, Great job!

  • I want a spiral nose cone with the props for my living room. Bf109. My grandpa worked for messerschmidt in Bavaria. This is truely a good movie. I dont know why no one has made a multi million dollar movie glorifying the luftwaffe. This is nice to see though. Thank you !

  • @coquitlam30 ahem, GLORIFYING the luftwaffe is pushing it -.-'

  • Great video! You're such a good movie maker! I play IL-2 and the real life pictures look pretty cool with IL-2 graphics :)

  • @skullhacks78 thanks!

  • G2's, G6's and G9's?

Is the sound effects and some cockpit animation from the game Aces High??

  • @mrceebees14 Hi: Bf109 G6, all animation from Il2 flight simulator

  • @biltongbru My guess was the G6 cool, that spiral nose cone normally gives it away.

Have to try that game out.

  • @mrceebees14 Aces High is not nearly as complex and as realistic as IL-2.

  • @flightrulez Ah, I see, thank you..

  • Awesome video

  • WOW!!!

  • I currently reading this again.. last I read this was when I was in the 4th grade...in 1983! Great Book!

  • @biltongbru Thank you for these videos. Heinz Knoke is a cousin of my grandfather (who himself served in USN during WWII). The old, worn paperback was shared among family members, until the re-published hardback came out. Heinz was almost poetic in some of his descriptions, and your videos have brought that to life. My family have enjoyed watching these.

His most touching entry, to me, is from 12 October 1940 where the pilots are flying the new 109 and his friend dies.

    Thank you!

  • @RittenWerd Thank you for the complements and I am glad that you enjoyed the movie! :)

  • German pilots in the second war?

masters of the masters! infinitely superior to their allies

    Greetings from Brazil!

  • I could watch videos like this for hours!

  • Great work *thumbsup*

  • My Friend. THAT WAS AWSOME! This should teach History channel on HOW TO... Make a Dogfight documentary, because (Dogfights) is not. Cheers to you and suscribed!

  • Awesome video production!!!!

  • Beautiful man. Just beautiful.

  • GREAT JOB!!!

I love it. Especially the way you inplemented the real people with the in-game video! Sehr gut!

  • fantastic! great job! i would buy this movie!

  • Hi biltongbru

    A Masterpiece.

    Fantastic Production,editing and Narrative.

Must have taken Days to put this together.

    Once again AWESOME Mate

    Part 2[Ditto]

    Respect

    CM6 :-)

  • very well done on all especially using the graphics from IL2 to make this historical reconstruction. im blown away never seen nothing like it ever 5stars!!!and i totally agree with RollerWaveMelody with his comment.

i flew for the fuhrer by heinz knoke is a must have!! id say it has to be one of the best aviation memoirs.

  • @Acornoa You can find it at Amazon

  • I read the diaries of Heinz Knoke and the guy was insane one of the best combat pilots ever its a shame not all the world know about this brave man.

  • At last a fantastic representation of the 'other side'. regardlass of politics these men were extreamly brave in a awful collision of men, Great story mate 5/5!!. Shame is when hollywood gets within spitting distance of such interesting stories. all that remains is styalised rubbish!.

You need to read Graf and Grislowski and do the same thing, captivating stories. keep going!!!

  • @Sharpp01 I guess it would be an understatement to say we are all mightily impressed with this video(s). The amount of material that could be put on the silver screen from this war is endless. Incredible stories from all sides, especially in the air war. I think the days of Hollywood rule are somewhat over. Some independent will produce a nice piece on one of these guys. I'd love to help.

  • Great work buddy, I had never seen anything edited this way before, and also a great way to use a game engine to produce a valuable historical reconstruction! 5 stars, keep up the good work!

  • @rubberbandman200 yeah, sure....what about some reality next time? -_-

  • very slick! Nice! :)

  • a la verga que dhingon esta el video

  • Brilliant.

  • Just read the book. Couldnt put it down. Very interesting read.

    Highly recommend it

  • They Bombed the Formation? How?

  • They flew high above the formation and dropped time fused bombs. The Germans had limited successes with this method and was discarded especially when the Allies started with fighter escorts.

  • Wow superbly meshed together.

    Lol poor farmer.

  • Are the terrain textures substituted in or are they a mod from AAA?

  • On ground shots: IL2 aircraft overlayed on real world photographs.

Areal shots: IL2 sky without cloud mod

  • Love the Stellenbosch mountains!!!

  • cooool !!! 5/5

  • Shit!!!

it's a very cool Video, thanks for posting,

    keep posting bro

  • cool

  • Very cool and very well made, the only bad thing about it (which, is just a small bad thing in a whole lot of awesome) is the german voice actor over-acting, or overplaying

  • I disagree, it adds very defined character, makes it seem truly German.

  • the best video in youtube 5***** to u sir

  • Absolutely beautiful video (as well ad your others), Tinus.

I work in the entertainment industry (television production) in Los Angeles and must say this is about as good as it gets.

I would love to work with you producing a documentary about my late father's B-24 bomb group in WWII.

    Congratulations on wonderful videos.

  • Thanks TXRog!

Please PM me on your ideas?

  • Hey Tinus and thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate it.

Have you ever thought about doing a WWI video using Rise of Flight flight sim?

Where do you get all the authentic uniforms and flight gear for your videos? Really enjoy the authenticity you put into your work.

    Thanks again for sharing.

  • Very great !

  • jeezus ive seen many il2 videos but never anything like this! this is incredible !!

  • awesome!!!!!!!

  • i would luv to see how ya made this film

  • Awesome work!!!

  • Ausge-f##king-zeichnet!

Loved the in-cockpit shots, espec from heavies showing 109s slashing through. Follows the text so well, really brings it to life. Some good mission building in there, too, espec the formation bombing attack.

Composites are very well done, pilots getting into planes looks v convincing. Scenery looked a bit S.Afr to me though :)

Quite affecting scene of B24 crew going down sans chute.

    Looking forward to part 2!

  • Thanks Flatspinman!

  • Can`t believe ist! Awesome !

  • Hi biltongbru,

Amazing, this is real WW2 air combat shortmovie, very good job (Also Part 2).

  • really hard work...relly well done my compliments!

    Ysy Italy
