Considering it was only a couple seconds for the link, zelda, groose, and the player, Impa waited for a thousand years to say that one freaking line and then goes and DIES!!!!!!
when Impa disappeared my first words were "Oh my god what did we do wrong?" First I have a heart felt with Fi then Zelda has to do the same with Impa then she died why? what happened? ending proceeds with making me cry
It's like a double kick in the nads when you have to say goodbye to Impa once in the past then you realized the old lady is Impa and you're happy again. Then she dies right in front of you.
Fi falls asleep in the master sword *sights heavily*
Zelda parts from impa *cries*
old impa fades away *sobs*
Result = an overdosis of sadness which makes you hate the ending for at least the rest of the day until you come to realize that they are not really dead but watching somewhere after they completed theyre focus. *takes a deep breath* well in almost every zelda you have sad endings, i just can't get used to it....
@TheLink2003 is it because i said "focus"? all right then you can figure out any synonym that comes to your mind, but either way it's the same. i'm not a newcomer in the zelda series you know
@nielsisback fi is NOT dead she's a fucking robot xD! she's like the eternal essence of the master sword that looks for the hero...or...a robot with some serious batteries that last for milleniums..but after all she said she was made by the hylian godess so...godesses can make batteries that last for milleniums!! o.o
@Th5theye Fi is sorta dead, she is in eternal sleep, so she is not really dead, but she wont ever awaken ever again. so ur choice to say if its dead or not
@1111khao Rofl I was just correcting the fact that they said she was dead. Just because she is no longer present in the storyline doesnt mean shes dead. And she clearly said she would be going into an eternal slumber, meaning shes still alive, just asleep inside the sword...so yeah
@nielsisback Yeah but you said she was "Dead" which she actually isnt, she stated that she was going into an "eternal slumber" which isnt technically DYING since shes still alive, just asleep inside the sword o3o so yeah, shes not really dead thats all i was saying.
@AkiChan323 I can kinda see where ur going, because sleeping isn't the same as beign dead. but youre not there anymore, youre not waking up. that's what i am saying. and about my previous comment: I cant just say that the other 3 are dead and that fi is in E.S, so yeah :(
@nielsisback It didn't say that Impa, Demise and Fi died. Just faded away. Ghirahim is the only one we know for sure is dead because we saw him as Demise's sword vanish. Demise most likely was reborn into Ganondorf. And Fi possibly was reborn into Navi.

@CPPpotkustartti Well as I remember, they don't really say anything about a certain amount of years, just something like "long time ago" or "years/decades ago". But I do agree. It can't just be a century, must be longer. Besides most of these japanese legends with sealed souls tell that those seals hold for centuries (maybe I got it wrong, but that's what I think I've heard). And one more thing, I think the seal has gotten weaker as Impa's life force got weaker (to be continued)...
@baronvonbehr And since she's messenger of Hylia (sorry if I'm wrong about names/roles), she must be able to live long. Anyways a century is just to short I think. 'Cause if it's just a century they would not refer to the old texts tells about the goddess sending a piece of the land to the sky (and so on). Then they would refer to something like the elders/the old sages tells tales about how.... That's my opinion. Let me hear what you guys think, maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong, maybe both????
Because to him even though Link leaves and travels to the future, Demise is aware he has traveled to the future to get prepared to fight him and so to Demise, he is only waiting a few moments.
Man...what a sad fate she had. Zelda and Link were absolutely sad, but I bet the one who was heartbroken was Groose since he decided to stay with Grannie.
This game had SO MANY time paradoxes it's so hilarious xD
Young impa came to the future to save the princess and the whole story unfolds. However, old impa also waits for the saviour. But if young impa witnessed the defeat of demise, why would she have a reason to sit in the temple as an old woman, so she can help link?
Theoretically, after zelda freezes herself in the past, you should be able to free her in the future. You could then go back and take zelda with you. You'd have 2 zeldas.
@name8895 While demise waits for you in the pocket dimension, you can go to the future. The future however, has remained normal and the portal to the pocket dimension is not there. Does that mean that demise waited for link to appear and eventually gave up and returned to the underworld? Rather peculier =P
Nintendo should give this whole time thing up, it's quite complicated xD
From what I can tell, Demise is a being that has conquered time. To him time doesn't exist. For example when he wakes up in the past he still says "I have been sealed for eons." Even though in the past he has just been sealed away. In the end it's best not to question the time travel crap.
@HeroOfGaming906 Well, if he was able to conquer time, then it is that much more questionable that he didn't just take over the world in links absence.
@SuperSketch008 You got it wrong. Demise wouldn't wait for link for 100 years. He'd get out and take over the world. Then 100 years later link'd appear in the future and he'd be like "Wtf??!!"
@name8895 He won't wait for 100 years, Link will end up killing Demise before then. The game demands you to, its not like you can just wait 100 years in the actual game.
@name8895 Young Impa had to watch over the Master Sword so she stayed but how did old impa know when she faded away that someone was gonna stay to watch over the Master Sword now...and i would guess it would to 2 zelda
@Mokoodo Her only purpose for staying alive for those thousands of years was to aid Link in his journey, and since his Quest was completed, she died, basically.
@Mokoodo I think it's because Impa in the past destroyed the last Gate and sealed herself there. Doing that, it was impossible for Impa to exist in the present, since she had, technically, never traveled to the present.
....I kind of knew that the old woman was Impa right after the scene where Zelda fell asleep... it makes sense because Impa said she'd stay and watch Zelda no matter what, and then when you go back into the future thousands of years later, you see an old woman gaurding the door where Zelda was sleeping, and had a huge braid...
@julex234 So true, I almost couldn't finish the cutscene, it took like forever because I had to get rid of tears everytime to see the next textpiece... And I just can't believe I didn't see it coming that Impa was the old lady..
@GanonAkumaFan Well, I can't really say the whole game, because I was not really in tears all the time. I did the side quests you know, no reason to cry under the side quests :) And at the ceremony everything was fine. But when the storm took Zelda I was like. ZEEEEEEEEEELDAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! WERE ARE YOU!!! ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! And then Link went unconsious :(
@GanonAkumaFan Yeah, it was. But I couldn't do anything but be a part of the story. I think the realistic controls helped a lot too. I really felt like you were the one holding he weapons through the game :)
@GanonAkumaFan O_O Wauw... never thought I should hear anyone admit that. Well, I actually never played OoT for more than 30 minutes at my friends house, never had an N64 myself :( So I never knew what great game it is, maybe if I ever get a 3DS I will get that game even though it's not really the same thing as the original :)
@baronvonbehr I've entirely played OoT, 100% completed, all the sidequests, all golden Skulltulas defeated, all the ammo upgrades, even the cow delivered in my house. But I think it kinda misses something. Most of us know how amazing this game was, how many perfect grades it received on reviews, but something I can't find is missing. That is why SS might be as good as OoT.
@GanonAkumaFan That's nice to hear :) I kinda feel bad that SS didn't become the game of the year. I really think it deserves it. I have never played a game that activated so many different emotions for me, and that alone deserves a lot of credit. And the amazingly easy controls that really sucks you inside the actions is just great. And the graphics are some of the bests I've seen for the Wii. And of course the music... it's epic. This combination just deserves that title, period :)
@baronvonbehr I'm not really the "emotional" type, but I kinda find some cutscenes pretty touching. For the musics, it's hard not to agree. Even without Koji Kondo, Nintendo makes some delights for my ears. And nobody should criticize the controls: you can't wave your arm everywhere to kill a single Deku Baba, yet it is not so complicated.
How can this be less good than Skyrim? I have played a little of ES5 at my friend's, and I can confirm that SS is better. Skyrim looks kinda boring...
@GanonAkumaFan I've never actually played Skyrim, but from what I've seen I think I'll be a waste of my money. Not that it's bad. It just doesn't look like a game I'd like. But of course you can't judge by the commercials alone, so maybe I'm missing a lot, maybe not :) Oh and I totally forgot the story. It's great, but they didn't really do anything that was totally unexpected. There was some nice twists that I knew would come but not which direction they would take, and that's good too :)
When I saw the old lady I thought it was Impa. Then the ninja sheikah appeared and I was like "Okay, maybe I was wrong. That's Impa.". But then they both were... gahhh so good. Love this game.
I ALWAYS knew she was not just an old granny. As soon as I met her I though she was an older version of another character. Just before Impa was indroduced I thought she was zelda since zelda's scent led me right to her. I thought maybe she was cursed by demise or something. When I met Impa I started to have doubts about my theory and when I saw the gate of time I pretty much figured it out, that and the hair gave it away.
How many of you noticed that the big red hat Grannie was wearing had a huge resemblance to Groose's hair? Which, unless I'm seeing things that aren't really there, I took as her timeless tribute to him for going back in time and helping out when he did (or, rather, eventually would). I saw that and thought, "That's awesome. Well designed, Game-makers. Well designed, indeed."
@ermiretrek I always thought it was meant to be one of those incomprehandable things they randomly put in. In case you don't get it, the hat appears to keep going untill its infinitly thin and then keeps going up.
no i understood the ending but is impa the character in oot just another version of this character. I understand that zelda link and ganon are reincarnated over the many zelda games each in a new adventure. I played ss but i just didn't understand the story behind impa and why granny is impa and the other lady is also impa. That part confused me. Everything else was filled in. I kinda expected the ending but it was presented in a really epic way.
@SlamTheLabel when zelda leaves the past impa tells her that she nned to stay. That is because she knew every thing that would happen son she would help them in the future
@SlamTheLabel Impa....Young Impa needed to stay and protect Zelda when see froze herself and help Link and Zelda on their journey in her future.....somehow which i dont get is she survived that long to help them but anyway she be came old still watching over zelda and waiting for the time and moment when Zelda and Link will be awaken as the chosen one to help them on their journey
so is there a time paradox again or something? I thought impa was also in ocarina of time. Did granny (older impa) die while younger impa stayed to guard or is impa in oot her predecessor?
@SlamTheLabel It's not a time paradox. All of the main people, Zelda, Link, Impa, and Ganon have destinies. That's why there is always a Link, and always a Zelda. They are forever bound to each other. It is their fate to stop Ganon every time he rises. Ocarina of Time takes place at least THOUSANDS of years after Skyward Sword.
In hero mode, I looked at the old lady's wrist and saw the bracelet that zelda gave impa in the past, before she gave it to her. And I looked through the slightly broken door of time, and I saw zelda, after, or, before she sealed herself. So there was, um 2 zeldas, the one? Or maybe it was one the whole time? and there is three bracelets? because zelda was wearing all three? Thats enough to make anyone desintegrate...
@tarkeke Me too. I was first suspecting she would be named Impa due to the Sheikah symbols. But then the "real" Impa showed up, so the granny couldn't be it. Then I began suspecting her being evil and using Link... xD
The moment Ghirahim said something about "that scrawny girl who protected zelda" (probably somewhere around the first gears of time thing is destroyed, really cant remember! early middleish?) I thought about Impas long strand of hair and remembered Granny's long swinging braid. Thats when I made the connection that Impa was Granny....And I cried when Granny....left T^T
I like how the old Impa looks almost exactly like the one from the CD-I games, and that's probably how I knew at the beginning of the game that it was her.
It's almost as if Nintendo is acknowledging the trilogy's existence...
@1REbeccaChambers Either like she blew up herself like in the Temple of Time so seal/destroy the Gate of Time (suicide bomb) thus making a paradox of herself not existing in the future or she did another thing that us players do not know.
I don't think she killed herself in the past. I think it was more that the Gods allowed her to transcend death for 1,000 years until her mission was does. She said she was going to watch over the master sword in the past, she could not do that if she killed herself.
Screw you all.
SCREW YOU.
I just wanted to listen to some music before buying the game.
Thanks for the spoilers...

Can anyone explain me...
Why does Impa disappear at the end?
Mokoodo 4 weeks ago
@Mokoodo Her only purpose for staying alive for those thousands of years was to aid Link in his journey, and since his Quest was completed, she died, basically.
KapodacoTheFriendly 4 weeks ago
@Mokoodo I think it's because Impa in the past destroyed the last Gate and sealed herself there. Doing that, it was impossible for Impa to exist in the present, since she had, technically, never traveled to the present.

....I kind of knew that the old woman was Impa right after the scene where Zelda fell asleep... it makes sense because Impa said she'd stay and watch Zelda no matter what, and then when you go back into the future thousands of years later, you see an old woman gaurding the door where Zelda was sleeping, and had a huge braid...

@baronvonbehr I don't want to be discourteous, but am I the only one who did not burst into tears for the whole game?
GanonAkumaFan 3 weeks ago
@GanonAkumaFan Well, I can't really say the whole game, because I was not really in tears all the time. I did the side quests you know, no reason to cry under the side quests :) And at the ceremony everything was fine. But when the storm took Zelda I was like. ZEEEEEEEEEELDAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! WERE ARE YOU!!! ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! And then Link went unconsious :(
baronvonbehr 3 weeks ago
@baronvonbehr Yes, but I saw that part coming. Very predictable, yet kinda nice...
GanonAkumaFan 3 weeks ago
@GanonAkumaFan Yeah, it was. But I couldn't do anything but be a part of the story. I think the realistic controls helped a lot too. I really felt like you were the one holding he weapons through the game :)
baronvonbehr 2 weeks ago
@baronvonbehr OoT has met his match.
GanonAkumaFan 2 weeks ago
@GanonAkumaFan O_O Wauw... never thought I should hear anyone admit that. Well, I actually never played OoT for more than 30 minutes at my friends house, never had an N64 myself :( So I never knew what great game it is, maybe if I ever get a 3DS I will get that game even though it's not really the same thing as the original :)
baronvonbehr 2 weeks ago
@baronvonbehr I've entirely played OoT, 100% completed, all the sidequests, all golden Skulltulas defeated, all the ammo upgrades, even the cow delivered in my house. But I think it kinda misses something. Most of us know how amazing this game was, how many perfect grades it received on reviews, but something I can't find is missing. That is why SS might be as good as OoT.
GanonAkumaFan 2 weeks ago
@GanonAkumaFan That's nice to hear :) I kinda feel bad that SS didn't become the game of the year. I really think it deserves it. I have never played a game that activated so many different emotions for me, and that alone deserves a lot of credit. And the amazingly easy controls that really sucks you inside the actions is just great. And the graphics are some of the bests I've seen for the Wii. And of course the music... it's epic. This combination just deserves that title, period :)
baronvonbehr 2 weeks ago
@baronvonbehr I'm not really the "emotional" type, but I kinda find some cutscenes pretty touching. For the musics, it's hard not to agree. Even without Koji Kondo, Nintendo makes some delights for my ears. And nobody should criticize the controls: you can't wave your arm everywhere to kill a single Deku Baba, yet it is not so complicated.
How can this be less good than Skyrim? I have played a little of ES5 at my friend's, and I can confirm that SS is better. Skyrim looks kinda boring...
GanonAkumaFan 2 weeks ago
@GanonAkumaFan I've never actually played Skyrim, but from what I've seen I think I'll be a waste of my money. Not that it's bad. It just doesn't look like a game I'd like. But of course you can't judge by the commercials alone, so maybe I'm missing a lot, maybe not :) Oh and I totally forgot the story. It's great, but they didn't really do anything that was totally unexpected. There was some nice twists that I knew would come but not which direction they would take, and that's good too :)

@baronvonbehr I prefer helping the dragons instead of killing them... Skyward Sword got my vote.

RadicalMetroid 1 month ago
How many of you noticed that the big red hat Grannie was wearing had a huge resemblance to Groose's hair? Which, unless I'm seeing things that aren't really there, I took as her timeless tribute to him for going back in time and helping out when he did (or, rather, eventually would). I saw that and thought, "That's awesome. Well designed, Game-makers. Well designed, indeed."

no i understood the ending but is impa the character in oot just another version of this character. I understand that zelda link and ganon are reincarnated over the many zelda games each in a new adventure. I played ss but i just didn't understand the story behind impa and why granny is impa and the other lady is also impa. That part confused me. Everything else was filled in. I kinda expected the ending but it was presented in a really epic way.

so is there a time paradox again or something? I thought impa was also in ocarina of time. Did granny (older impa) die while younger impa stayed to guard or is impa in oot her predecessor?
SlamTheLabel 1 month ago
@SlamTheLabel It's not a time paradox. All of the main people, Zelda, Link, Impa, and Ganon have destinies. That's why there is always a Link, and always a Zelda. They are forever bound to each other. It is their fate to stop Ganon every time he rises. Ocarina of Time takes place at least THOUSANDS of years after Skyward Sword.
RaiderNic99 1 month ago in playlist The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
In hero mode, I looked at the old lady's wrist and saw the bracelet that zelda gave impa in the past, before she gave it to her. And I looked through the slightly broken door of time, and I saw zelda, after, or, before she sealed herself. So there was, um 2 zeldas, the one? Or maybe it was one the whole time? and there is three bracelets? because zelda was wearing all three? Thats enough to make anyone desintegrate...

@1REbeccaChambers Either like she blew up herself like in the Temple of Time so seal/destroy the Gate of Time (suicide bomb) thus making a paradox of herself not existing in the future or she did another thing that us players do not know.
artmaster500 1 month ago
@artmaster500
I don't think she killed herself in the past. I think it was more that the Gods allowed her to transcend death for 1,000 years until her mission was does. She said she was going to watch over the master sword in the past, she could not do that if she killed herself.
