Depends on which iteration of the Zonda we're talking about, I reckon the road going CLK-GTR would probably destroy every Zonda aside from the newer F and Cinque. A fun fact: the non street-legal Zonda R uses the same engine as the CLK-GTR race car.
@MrPlagues Indeed :) but I'm pretty sure the R would eat the racing CLK, as it doesn't follow any regulations and it's engine pumps out as much power as it's possible, and other things like weight etc :)
@rvind92g I think Pagani has the cylinders bored out from 6.9 Lto 7.3L, their exhaust system is very different too. The R doesn't have any dB killers, which is why its so loud.
@Riles07 The Pagani Zonda R is actually a 6.0 L V12. The other Pagani Zondas are all a 7.3 L V12 except the Pagani Zonda C12 and the C12s, which is has a 6.0 L V12 and a 7.0 L V12 respectively. Whatever it is, the Zonda R sounds awesome!

@Astralwurksdk - I'd be surprised if Heidfeld's lap in the Sauber F1 wasn't faster. OK, Germany invented the car, but other nations have done a lot to develop it. The Dutch Spyker 60HP pioneered 4WD and the L6 engine. The V8 is a French invention: the V6 Italian. The Nissan isn't very innovative in basic layout, but, with computer-controlled, gyro-stabilised AWD and a 140hp/litre 530hp 3.8l V6, it is still a landmark performance car. Still, I dislike it, it's ugly, soulless and the ride is crap.
@Astralwurksdk - you may think BMW is king, but the new 5er is absolute shite. Awful car in every way. No grip, crap handling, ride, steering, visibility. The electronic throttle and handbrake are infuriating and the 2.0d (especially with the autobox) is horrid! Huge lag, tiny power band, impossible to drive smoothly. The Jaguar XF is MUCH better - pity there's no estate. Also, Jag don't have BMW's wonderful NA L6, though BMW is killing it off and replacing it with a 2L turbo four! Boo hiss.
@Astralwurksdk - and also, look at the performance cars. The Jaguar XK is a MUCH more desirable car than the Merc SL or the BMW 6-series and a lot better to drive too. Aston Martin's range is much better than the Merc SL, 6-series and SLS end of things. The Jaguar XJ is MUCH better than the Porker Panamera and the BMW 7er. Still, I wouldn't say no to a naturally-aspirated, rear-wheel-drive 911. Not interested in the Turbo or GT2, or any of the 4WD ones. Carrera GT? Yes please...

What a stupid car. Just buy a veyron. It's better to drive around town, better built, better looking in my opinion and it's faster. The CLK gtr is shit. It's just one of those cars that costs a million pounds and then falls to pieces after 10,000 miles.
Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR along side the Porsche 911 GT1 are so awesome. We should get down on our knees and thank God cars like this were made specially and only for homologation. This is by far away the prettiest super-hyper-race-roadcar, and by a big part because of the pedigree. And let's not forget that this raceproject was designed and build entirely within time of about 2 months. Everything about this car is insane and over the top, by far better than any old Ferrari Enzo!
What a piece of work for track days :-) It is really more an art piece than a car, but if a person ever fell into a few dozen million, what three pointed star addict would be able to keep him or her self from spring for it...you would know the price is idiotic, but you would still want it...
@gurlsingerfan Is the price really rediculous, while they still make millions of losses over the entire project including the racecars. And let's not forget that no car legal for the road has ever had a pedigree and legend as big as this and it is by FAR more exclusive as the similar priced Enzo. And when you think about it, something like the CLK63 AMG Black series will give thrills, be very exclusive and still carry luggage...OR the AMG CLK DTM, only a hundred built, at a half million new...or the beautiful SLR, at least somewhat usable on street. Think about it, many folks dream of just getting to drive an E-Class or used C-class.

@TheGrandeMartini I do trust you, and I do think the car is a VERY special one. It may be one of the last true road and track art pieces we will see for many years. I felt the same way about the Ford GT40 many years ago, and I was right,a person could have paid "idiotic prices" back then and it would have been the best investment he could have made! I feel somewhat that way about the new Mercedes Gull wing SLR, and yes, certainly the CLK GTR is so special, but just not very usable on street.
What Bugatti?? Bugatti is made for top speed run. That's the reason why even Corvette ZO6 is faster than Bugatti at Nurburgring. CLK-GTR is 4 times even more rare than MCLaren F1, something like Reventon.
Sport auto hasn't even tested the Veyron SS and that time by Wheels magazine was an guess they made, they didn't even tested the car, and that is supported by that weights you give, Veyrons tested weight around 2040kg, 1980kg is dryweight, the same can be said about the SS. Inform yourself.

Aston Martin's range is much better than the Merc SL, 6-series and SLS end of things. The Jaguar XJ is MUCH better than the Porker Panamera and the BMW 7er. Still, I wouldn't say no to a naturally-aspirated, rear-wheel-drive 911. Not interested in the Turbo or GT2, or any of the 4WD ones. Carrera GT? Yes please...

@ChrisPwaffle - WRONG. This is OLD Top Gear, which got killed off in 2000. Clarkson then revived it with Andy Wilman and recruited Richard Hammond, Jason Dawe and Perry McCarthy in 2002. Dawe was later replaced by James May and Perry McCarthy by Ben Collins.

What a stupid car. Just buy a veyron. It's better to drive around town, better built, better looking in my opinion and it's faster. The CLK gtr is shit. It's just one of those cars that costs a million pounds and then falls to pieces after 10,000 miles.

Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR along side the Porsche 911 GT1 are so awesome. We should get down on our knees and thank God cars like this were made specially and only for homologation. This is by far away the prettiest super-hyper-race-roadcar, and by a big part because of the pedigree. And let's not forget that this raceproject was designed and build entirely within time of about 2 months. Everything about this car is insane and over the top, by far better than any old Ferrari Enzo!

What a piece of work for track days :-) It is really more an art piece than a car, but if a person ever fell into a few dozen million, what three pointed star addict would be able to keep him or her self from spring for it...you would know the price is idiotic, but you would still want it...

And let's not forget that no car legal for the road has ever had a pedigree and legend as big as this and it is by FAR more exclusive as the similar priced Enzo. It's even more exclusive than the Ferrari 250 GTO's, the most sought after car. I love this thing SO MUCH!

@TheGrandeMartini Don't misunderstand me, I am NOT faulting the car, it is fantastic :-) I am at the age when I think MOST cars are wildly overpriced. And when you think about it, something like the CLK63 AMG Black series will give thrills, be very exclusive and still carry luggage...OR the AMG CLK DTM, only a hundred built, at a half million new...or the beautiful SLR, at least somewhat usable on street. Think about it, many folks dream of just getting to drive an E-Class or used C-class.

This is nothing like any other mercedes, or even any other supercar. This is one of the holy grail of supercars. It really is. You shouldn't compare this to any old CLK but to a Enzo, Zonda F or R. Trust me...

@TheGrandeMartini I do trust you, and I do think the car is a VERY special one. It may be one of the last true road and track art pieces we will see for many years. I felt the same way about the Ford GT40 many years ago, and I was right,a person could have paid "idiotic prices" back then and it would have been the best investment he could have made! I feel somewhat that way about the new Mercedes Gull wing SLR, and yes, certainly the CLK GTR is so special, but just not very usable on street.

What Bugatti?? Bugatti is made for top speed run. That's the reason why even Corvette ZO6 is faster than Bugatti at Nurburgring. CLK-GTR is 4 times even more rare than MCLaren F1, something like Reventon.

Sport auto hasn't even tested the Veyron SS and that time by Wheels magazine was an guess they made, they didn't even tested the car, and that is supported by that weights you give, Veyrons tested weight around 2040kg, 1980kg is dryweight, the same can be said about the SS. Inform yourself.
