Neil Young is a legend. He'll live in our hearts. He made sweet childhood memories possible with my brothers and I singing his songs. My brothers and I love you, Mr. Neil Young.
I hope Neil Young gets half of the recognition Michael Jackson received when his time comes. He certainly deserves it!! What a great musician and humanitarian!!! I will always love him. Saw Greendale twice. He is awesome. We love you, Neil!!! OXOXOX
Absolutely. I used to look forward to "The Ian and Sylvia Show" every Tuesday (early '70's). He dropped off the radar after that show went off the air (occasionally resurfacing), but running a working ranch will do that to you.
i heard this on radio 2 the other day and thought i must look for it on here. this video is fantastic. i'm not sure if my eyes are playing tricks but i'm sure i spotted the fantastic willie nelson!
to all who wanted to cover this song, i have watched some of them finished videos and they played it on key of "G" when as you can see clearly he is playing the song on key of "C"
next time he playing anywhere near you go and see neil, had the pleasure of him in dublin 2 years on the trot ,one outdoor and one in a new indoor arena ,both gigs will stay with me forever, happy birthday by the way
Had not heard this in many years, then it caught me today at a time in my life when things are coming to an end in many ways. Thank you, Neil, for helping me cope with moving on. By the way, the original Harvest (not Harvest Moon) is also an amazing song.
Neil Young rocks... love this song. He has such an amazing catalogue of music it truly is hard picking out favourite songs. Viva Canada!!!! We love you, Neil!!!
I am honoured to have named my boy after Neil and I am truly blessed that Neil Makes CANADA PROUD !!!!! Thank You Neil for remembering where you come from...... :)))
Wow, it's amazing where on YouTube, you can watch your favorite performer age right before your eyes. I still love Neil Young as a young man and probably more now as an older performer.
This song has a lot of sentimental meaning to me. I dated a guy who was a sailor, and this was one that meant a lot to us when he was away. Not to mention, it's beautifully performed.
This song means a real lot to me, as my old Dad always said he didn't didn't like anything "modern" "rock" "pop" or anything after about 1950. Just occasionally he would let his real feelings show through and when I played "Comes a Time" and this track in particular, he would say "Who Sings That?" "Thats Good". But when I put on "Tonights the Night" he couldn't work the whole thing out.The generation gap was wide.
My Dad died in 1987 but this great song brings him back to me.
That magnificent country to our (US) North is underrespected -- even recognized -- does almost everything better than the US. I await your "Love it or leave it" response.

I guess nobody noticed, including Neil and the band, that he screwed up the lyrics, singing the second half of the second verse in both the first and second verses. To say nothing of the off-key singing. Ian Tyson has dibs on the song. No question.

He gets the verses mixed up, but he seems really into it, as ever. He TOTALLY mixes up the verses for "Just Like Tom Thumbs Blues" on the Dylan 30th Anniversary concert, though! But his performance is amazing.
i always start to cry whenever i hear all the songs of mr. neil young...i miss my father he's working abroad and he likes Mr.neil young very much.........
Who really cares, but thank God for both Neil and Dylan. To be fair i don't think many artist have consistently kicked arse for 40 years as Neil has done. I can't help but shed a few tears. Makes me think of loved ones departed and some still here. I'm a musician. I'm also sentimental. Right now there's someone I love that I'm thinking of. Neil Young can kick ass and get dirty with the best of them like in "Powderfinger". He can also do some of the most beautiful stuff you ever heard like "Harvest Moon". Hell of a man
It's nice to read in comments on this song and some others I've seen that I'm not the only one in the world that gets sentimental over performances like this and who thinks that Neil Young and Bob Dylan are simply beyond compare.

Is that Emmy Lou seated on Neil's left? The harmonies on the original are a highlight (with Nicollette Larson?) but barely audible on this video.

No, Emmy Lou has more delicate facial features. And I bet they would give her more camera time too.
