Some moron posted a video on youtube stating Bossy as #10 on his greatest forwards list. Idiot!! Some of the posters were writing about how Bossy was not a good passer. Oh really!!
752 GP
573 Goals
553 Assists
not counting the playoffs.
if Bossy played today, he would have 200 points a year!!
Gretzky called the Bossy the greatest right winger ever!! Enough said.
@sosdkny 200 a year? LOL. It's a lot harder to score goals now. Goalies don't just stand there, defense is a lot more active. Balance is what it's about now. A few decades ago, it was all scoring. He was a great player, yes. But to say that he would score 200 points a year.. now you seem like the idiot.
Goalies just stand there?? WTF are you talking about. Yeah defenses are a lot more active today playing zone traps. You cant even hit a guy today without being called for roughing. You had more scoring years ago because fighting was legal and everyone was fightin and you had more power player and more open ice. But the only player htat never fought was Bossy and he was always on the ice. Again with the old school new school BS.
@sosdkny Let me be a little more clear for you. Goalies almost never play exclusively stand-up any more. Call it hybrid, butterfly, whatever. It's a lot harder to score on them. Fighting doesn't take players out or give power play time, given that neither player tries beating the other senseless after the fight. It takes whoever was dumb enough to get into it out of the game for a bit. I'm still waiting for an explanation of the "200 point" remark.
funny to see Lacroix talk there as Bossy sort of reminds of Petr Forserg as skilled guys that were pretty strong but that would take a lot of abuse and would not fight.
I'm a Habs fan, I was watching a game one night, Mike was in the other teams end corner on the right side against the boards, About 11/2 to 2 feet above the icing line. There was a cameraman behind the glass. Now we all know Mike was a right handed shooter, On TV the view suddenly switched to the camera behind the glass, So our view was right behind mike's right arm, He took a snap shot & put it right over the goalie's left shoulder in the net & MY JAW JUST DROPPED. "UNFUCKING BELIEVABLE" !!!
He is the best pure sniper I've ever seen. A lighning quick release, and an ability to score from 20-25 feet out with remarkable ease, just like Lafleur.
@italstallion06 No way to know that, but he was scoring at a greater rate than Gretzky. Gretzky even acknowledged that he was the best scoring winger he had ever seen. A number of experts have said, as one of the commenters says, that he was one of the best goal scorers they had ever seen.
He's my favourite hockey player ever, and the Islanders my favourite team. Productions such as these are a little heavy on the treacly, string-heavy music, but it's very easy to get swept up in the pieces on Boss, Denny, Trots and Battlin' Billy. If you're an Isles fan - and sometimes it feels like there're only about 500 of us left - you feel a little heroic at the end of each clip. A real swell of pride, a pump of the fist, a shout of "1940!", and a charge of Tonelli-Nystrom energy. Hell yeah!
@thegoldenyear Denis is my favorite, but Boss isn't far behind. In fact, Denis is just one ahead of Boss on the THN all time list.
The current Islander team is developing into another great team. Look at Grabs. Everyone in Vancouver and Florida knocked him as not being physical and a poor defensive player. Look at him now. Not only is he scoring with abandon, he is a + 16 on a team with a -31goal differential. In the next year or two, this team is going to develop into a truly elite contender
@thegoldenyear Happy to find a real Islanders fan. I am from Montreal, but have the utmost respect for the 1980-1983 dynasty. What a team they had. Bossy was simply a goal-scoring machine, and what a nice guy he was (and still is). The Islanders lose a lot, but God they do this franchise has a cooler attitude than the damn arrogant Rangers. The Isles will rise again.
to me, his greatest moment was when he was "stuck" at 48 goals in 49 games, and he was stifled for two periods in Quebec. Yet with 4 minutes left, he managed to pocket two and reach the 50 in 50 milestone. Greatest pure goal scorer ever.
He officially retired in september of 88

9 straight 50 goals seasons. Bossy was just as good as Gretzky and Lemieux.

not only did he scored 50 goals but he did it 9 straight years and it would've been 10 had he not been injured.
