On the contrary, it has been featured on several national networks (even FOX) and on all the local stations and newspapers. The reason for this is that members of the news media were attacked. It's too bad that that's the story, not the way our communities were treated, though. I was actually impressed (in spite of myself) with Bratton's openness to investigations and the city council's swift response.

thanks frantom. you have to remember that i put this together after the 11pm broadcasts last night. English news media outlets were virtually ignoring the incidents and opting for stories on snakes, kids shoes, and Britney Spears. Later, ABC was the first station to have a more in-depth report. As for Bratton, before community and media pressure he cautioned against assuming that the officers were at fault, but then he had no choice but to admit that there was something seriously wrong.

Actually Fox's LA affiliate opened their 10 pm broadcast with the story of the police attacks, including UNEDITED video of the police roughing up their reporter, with footage from Univision of the Fox reporter and her camerawoman getting hit by the police.

as i mentioned below, the English language news media outlets 'virtually ignored' the incidents by having really short (ancillary) segments on what happened. i didn't get to see the Fox footage, but someone told me that, as you mentioned, their 10pm angle focused on one of their own reporters getting roughed up vs. a lot of innocent families getting hurt.

Its seem counter-intuitive: Of course a local latino news affiliate would be going into this issue with a hell of a lot more detail than a major English language media outlet would. Different audiences.

Did people throw rocks at the police? I Think they did. Protesters did throw objects at police officers right! I guess that ok right. I am sure the mexican police officers would have let people throw rocks at them with out doing anything.

People did. But not the people inside the park, at the rally. The police could have isolated the people who were taunting them. Instead, they drove them into the park and began firing on innocent, peaceful people, including families and elderly folks.

It is clear to see that this is a case of police brutality and repression. Chief Bratton must step down or be fired and we HAVE to demand that! The police are cowards--attacking peaceful marchers, but especially women and children. I've been studying the news and it seems like the police force was given a directive to provoke and attack the marchers to make the peaceful protest look bad in the media.
