@wally2714 The rears are good for up to around 500 hp, but hp is not the factor, it is wheel hop. I have seen stock cars blow the third member by staying in the throttle when wheel hop started. Whenever I feel any hop at all, off the throttle. Not worth breaking something.
Awesome car! I have and 02 Z06 and it is an addiction. I have to ask though. What the heck is that in the other lane? It looks as aerodynamic as a barn but gets down the strip with a quickness!
It was an SRT8 with a big-bore kit, whipple and all the goodies. It even had CF fenders and hood! I was very surprised to see that shoe-box pass me at the top end of the track! Gotta give the man props!
Hi TheSavageman - Yes - your car IS fast! At the time of this run, my car had LG headers, a tune, and a cold air intake - that is all. This run was on street tires and I did nothing special to the car except turn off the air and traction control. Thanks for the comment and be sure to post a video reply when you get your car to the track!
great run! i have seen bone stock 405hp z06's run 11.90s on street tires at a lil less mph. with sum stickier tires i think u will drop 3-4 tenths. and go mid 11s.
Thank you! I have recently installed 3.90 gears , a quaiffe differential, RPM Level V M12 and an LS7 clutch. I am looking forward to getting back to the track soon!
this is pretty impressive were you getting better times from heating up the street tires I do my best going around the wash pit on street tires, dr's I always do
Hi DcEvolX - Thanks! Yes, I found that I get a better 60' if I really put some heat in the stock tires. I was told by better drivers that street tires do not benefit from a burnout, but I found differently at the track. I do try to go around the water box, to keep the front tires from picking up water and dropping it on my line. No expert here, but lots of practice with this car. I would love to see vids of your runs - please let me know if you have some!
@mqqn01 I am hoping to get some track time and vids up by next season I blew the tranny in my 01 z28 I can't wait to get it back out driving again I miss my ls1 power I've had to drive around in a pos 2010 explorer that truck is a nightmare lol and same to you keep my posted on that gorgeous vette
Thank you! I have 59,000 miles on the car now. It did take a while to get the car to hook up. It still makes me grin ear - to - ear when I drive the car, even after 9 years.
Very nice! I wouldn't mind meeting up with you at some point and get some pointers on launching. I have a 2001 Z06 with LG Pro Longtubes, B&B Bullets, and dyno tune. I'm in Muscatine, IA and plan on visiting Cordova quite a bit this year.
Just moved here and looking for some car buddies! Hope to see you around.
Great, sounds good. I hope to be at Cordova as much as possible this year. I'm sure I'll be there on one of those days. Feel free to shoot me an email on whatever day you guys decide to go and I'll do what I can to meet you there.
Those are some pretty impressive times for a stock motor.
I've a 2002 Mustang GT with Comp Stage 2 Cams, Short ram intake, BBK 75 mm throttle body and plenum, BBK Headers, MAC Prochamber midpipe, SLP LM II exhaust, 4.10 gears, and a Steeda Tri-ax short throw shifter, and a tune. I wish I could run those kind of times even with everything I've done to it.
Thanks! I'll bet you are closer than you think with those mods. One of my good D/R buddies has a 2007 GT - and the 4.10's really woke his up - he is running 13.2's (well, he just got an edelbrock s/c setup installed and is now making 479 rwhp - so he'll be tough to beat now...
What rpm did you launch off of?
FuglyEngineering 1 month ago
@FuglyEngineering
I go by seat of the pants - but around 3700 rpm I believe.

And for anyone that has done the research: "Are the rear ends notorious for breaking? How much HP/TQ before the rear end gives?

@00NBMWS6
12.3 is a VERY good time with a bone stocker - it took me quite a few runs to learn how to get the 60's down with street tires.
