When the iPhone 4 came out, it cost $187 to make(both 16GB and 32GB). Apple has a profit margin that is astronomical. They could afford to have Apple products assembled here and give jobs back to Americans, but they won't. Here is the link for the proof if you are interested...(remove the spaces)

If this is true, this implies the price was too low. And is $187 the fixed cost? There is a lot more overhead to stack on top of that until we realize the true margin. "They can afford" implies your value judgement that only a certain amount of profit is acceptable. Competition is the antidote to market power.
@nikweinstein I worked for Apple and am very accustomed to their business practices. Of course you have to pay for labor, transportation, Technical Support (which is US based for US customers) and other items. However, to compare to other tech companies, there is a larger divide for cost per unit for Apple than companies such as Dell, Sony, Toshiba, etc. That is why Apple's market cap has been hovering around Exxon's for a few years. You cannot get your 200 $ back because by buying product,you accepted it as it is,with price and all other factors. That's like an agreement. After that product can be half a price,discontinued or anything else,you bought it in time when those prices were active. That's like buying a fuel for 1 $ and tomorrow going back to fuel station to ask for refund because overnight it got 0,04 $ cheaper... Anyway,that's not point of video...

While the argument can be made that that $200 drop after 2 months was the 'premium' you paid for being the first in line, let's be realistic people. It was TWO months. TWO. Not a a year, or even half a year, TWO months. What happened in those 60 days that made it cheaper for Apple to sell? Nothing. Face it, Apple screwed it's loyal fans over, and for a while the Great Steve Jobs was the bad guy. For all that the iPhone has done for my family and I, I would gladly pay 200 more! I don't want a refund yet I want them to use that money to do more of the things they are doing now so I may enjoy the things in life I used to mis because there was no innovation even close to now.
