My very first favorite song .... I was 3 yrs old... And, yes.. I'm a girl!.. lol... I was 21 when I met the love of my life and that was his too. He was the ONLY person I've ever known to even know this song ...much less be his very first fav too ... We were freaking out.. I thought he was just.saying that... To get in good, :).. Til he bust up singing it to me...
RIP KEITH ANTHONY HEBERT ... LIFE TAKEN TOO SHORT,,. I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU & LIVE THE BEST LIFE FOR YOU & ME BOTH!! .. <3
@bobu46 I googled your ? & found you an answer: As Steven Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic put it, the song is about a veteran artist "who's aware that he's more than paid his dues during his career ... but is still surviving, and someday, he'll shine just like a rhinestone cowboy." That was the story of Glen's life thus far, virtually unknown session musician finally hitting the bigtime! Glen was early to incorporate Bossa Nova in this 1975 hit - bossa is the secret ingredient in crossover country!
@bobu46 Part 2 - Come hear my Bossa Nova Country playlist. My channel is a music library of over 600 playlists, for nearly 400 artists, any year from 1900 to today, & dozens of lists by genre or style. It's a century of the best music from around the world, hope you stop by. And it only happens from the kindness of those who upload all the music! chuck
@bobu46 A rhinestone is a fake diamond or some other gemstone. Some country music singers wore suits covered with rhinestones. There was a guy named Nudie Cohn who designed suits for stars like Elvis, Hank Williams and Gram Parsons; his flashy, glittering creations were called "Nudie suits." So I guess a rhinestone cowboy would be a cowboy wearing a sparkling suit of rhinetones or maybe just an entertainer who wanted that kind of "look."
Watched the Grammys, saw this song(:

One of my favorites from the '70s. It's really a lost classic, not aired on the radio much.

Thanx for uploading - I like this song - but what is a "Rhinestone Cowboy" ?
I know the river RHINE in Germany - suppose it's the biggest one and they make a wonderful wine there.
