  • umpiring is not the place for drama

  • turn that hat around..

  • keep pressing 4 lol

  • Obviously you have ZERO umpire training of any sort..The first thing, Mr. Umpire..never, ever, wear your hat turned around in the field. You would be laughed out of my association.

  • @TonySiani Hey smart guy, obviously its a dramatization.

  • wait wait wait "its ok to roofie your own team" am i missing something? 1:32

  • 1:00 twitchy much?

  • stop at 1:20

  • This guy seems like if I slip him a few $20's in the parking lot the strike zone will be real big

  • The parents would not be yelling at you if you knew how to umpire. What a reject!!

  • @washnton23 Sounds like you've never been an umpire. Or, rather, you've been the angry parent.

Not that this guys is particularly good at etiquette.

  • @VincentWinkler I've been umpiring longer than you have been alive. We are not going to have this conversation. :)

  • @washnton23 Then truly, I wish to umpire kids' games where you do, where parents do not get angry simply because the call went against their team. No parent wants to see their child called out, especially when it's close and even when it's not. I find that a little less than one-in-ten parents are the extremely vocal, spit-in-your-face kind when it's their child up to bat or on base.

  • *1:18* hii--yaaaa!!!

  • #1 you lose all credibility wearing your hat backward.

  • Never Listen to anyone that has his hat on backwards

  • This guy has all kinds of ump videos ... like he's some kind of authority. He's not. Ignore pretty much everything he does or says. Don't dress like him or look like him. Join a state association and go to the meetings. Watch a varsity game somewhere. You'll see that, hopefully, thay don't look like this guy.

  • ok, so just to make sure i understand, to eject someone you...

    1. let them kick dirt on you

    2. punch them in the chest

    3. epic chuck norris fist pump ejection

    4. stare back at him as if he'd just finished murdering 8 people.

  • i love how you're trying to teach people to umpire, yet you have your hat backwards. learn how to present yourself on a field, and learn proper ejection mechanics, and then talk. absolutely ridiculous.

  • 3 things is wrong.. one ur wearing jewelry.. if players coaches and managers can't niether should an umpire.. 2.. ur ejection call was disgraceful... ur supposed to do a one step 2 step and point in oppisite direction of the coach and 3. when ur having a an aggressive coach u get him to calm down first the best u can and u try to stand on the side of him.. not in front of him..

  • Don't ever push the coach while ejecting him.. lol

  • I'm sorry, did I just read that you should weat a hat backwards when behind the plate....WRONG! Go get a combo hat or a short billed hat. If one of my rookie umpires wore their hat backwards....they wouldn't umpire again.

  • @mrkbaden14 i think that is a bit harshed what you shuold tell them is they need to wear the hat the right way if it happens again... than yea you say something it does not fix itself than you tell them not to umpire.

  • @mrkbaden14 wow i would never umpire under your command, that if a guy wears a hat backwards they would be fired...a little harsh dont you think?

  • @awsomerey101 hat on straight and forward all the time. the game has rules, umpires have mechanics that are our rules, small bill (6 stitch) hat for plate, regular bill (8 stitch) for bases, and yes it is important. you are representing the game of baseball first, your individuality is a distant second.

  • the "coach" had a mic on

  • 1:20 LOL

    This guy is a dipshit

  • it looks so funny when he ejects the guy

  • I would never listen to this guy because in his video when he pretends to throw the coach out of the game he is wearing his hat backwards. NEVER DO THIS!!!! you lose all your authority and will never earn any respect from any head coaches. I would never be able to take this guy seriously.

  • @07badside He has his hat backwards becuase he was wearing his mask u alwawys should wear your hat backwards when wearing a mask unless they give you the small brim caps.

  • @Paulie675 I'm sure you've dabbled around in the rec-leagues, but umpires should NEVER wear their hats backwards. FACT. If you're going to play the part, then dress the part.

  • @SkateShoeReviewer what the hell... can you explain that one? i am interested in knowing that.

  • OMG THANK YOU!!!! My little league is starting a junior umpire thing where they will teach us how t umpire! i am in the junior league and we will be umpiring not only in the field but also behind the pate and this helps alot! thanks!!!

  • @gak831

Please don't watch any of this guy's videos. Well, you can, just don't follow what he does.

  • @gak831

Please don't watch any of this guy's videos. Well, you can, just don't follow what he does. Ask your League and District UIC for guidance.

  • @SDSUChemTA Ok but i can also take this guys advise into consideration

  • @gak831 Don't listen to any of this.

  • @Stonecutter589 nah i did the clinic

now ive umped both behind the plate and in the field doing both 2 man and 3 man mechanics!

  • brought to you by the same producers who made "How to survive a zombie attack" . Seriously.

  • At 1:04, was he ejecting the guy arguing?

  • he is right it is really hard sometimes to keep your cool especally when a coach is yelling at you, you cannot go against him because then he has a real reason to be mad at you

  • these videos shouldnt be allowed, if you are an umpire and you need to go to youtube to learn how to be one, i dont want you to be the umpire for me

  • @Muz1cRocks if this is there main source of info then yes but this is a good reference for a new season or to refresh on some stuff

  • idk what age level he's talking about. but players curse all the time and umpires dont care at all.

  • Indeed. No matter what, a strike is a strike, thanks for posting...

  • For the most part he's right on the money

  • stop it at 1:20...lol hahahhahahaha look at his face

  • @ridebig10 hahahahahahahhahahahha! that was funny!

  • The second that coach kicked dirt on me, he would have gotten banged and that's the end of that. Then when you ejected him, you looked like a serial killer slasher with this menacing, evil look on your face. I thought u were gonna murder the guy.

Be professional and never lose your cool. Eject the coach without bias and never take it personally. He is frustrated and you need to understand that, but never allow disrespect.

Learn to hold ur mask bro, please. God that kills me to watch.

  • NO! This comment is completely wrong. BAD UMPIRES are what give people the misconception that umpires are bad people. The umpires who have not learned how to actually umpire (like this guy) make officiating difficult for others!

  • This guy is brutal. The beginning is quite good. As soon as he gets into an arguement it all goes to hell. 1:04 his hat is backwards, mask is not being held right, dirt kicked at him (gonzo), and then he makes his ejection at the guy.

  • Why?

  • Great job, thanks for posting this.

  • Please pause at 1:20

    Mid-Ejection

  • hahahahahahahahhahhahahaahahahahahahaha that was hardcore lol

  • how the hell did the coach not get tossed earlier when he kicked dirt on the umpire. if that was me umpin, i would of tossed his ass at that moment

  • "Earnest Umpires Baseball" lol he looks like earnest from the movies

  • @conceitedballr24 hahahahahha perfect

  • "nip it in the bud, catch it early, stop it right away, dont let it go on"

  • nice backwards hat, little league Len

  • this guy sucks ass. and theres only two type of peopel that wear their hats backwards. catchers and cocksuckers. this guy doesnt look like a catcher to me.

  • Hey "them88"....I'm LMAO at your comment. Good one.

  • For head coaches: 1) acknowledge criticism (nod to a "both ways blue!") 2) With subsequent criticism, warn the coach that any more and he will be confined to the dugout. 3) restrict the coach to the dugout except for defensive conferences and injuries. 4) dump the fucker, Usually 3 and 4 come together, but it is a crucial step, especially with USSSA or Triple Crown tournaments. For assistant coaches, don't put up with any shit, they know they have no rights.

  • fagget

  • LOL, pause at 0:15.

  • this guy kinda sucks

  • wow when he so called "ejected" the guy, it looked like he was doing karate....im sorry but this guy needs to go back to bowling, quit umpiring

  • While you're at it, wear two ball bags and turn your hat around like mcmahm34 said.

  • How about buttoning your shirt, buddy? Professionals should have their shirts buttoned such that no protective equipment is showing. Same goes for "semi-pros" like this guy...

  • Better than most the videos. But in regards to the chatter from the dugout. It's been really clamped down by LL over the years. At this point there's very little chatter you can do (in baseball) from the dugout in regards to the opposing team. Just give a warning to the coach to keep their players under control and that's it.

  • he needs to turn the hat around...then he can begin to show us "How to be an umpire"

  • That ejection mechanic was f##king terrible

  • true that

  • It looked like the Karate Kid having a seizure....

  • I didn't like how se stared right at the coach when he kicked him out. It made it look like " Here you go u jerk, I'm showing you up in fron of everybody." I ref hockey and they tell us that when you kick a coach out, you should point at the coach and point to the door to get off the ice and that's it. You don't stare at him because that's just asking for more. Correct me in I'm wrong for umpiring Baseball, but I don't like how he stared down the coach while he kicked him out.

  • I think the confrontation was a set up.

  • Never ask a coach what they saw. Use "In my judgment....." to preface your remarks, and that should end any further conversation.

  • NEVER tell the coach "I didn't see.." What you say is "This is what I have".... As soon as you use the word "see", your vision will come into ?. Explain what you have, the less said the better, stick to the facts of the play. Try turning it around on them, and ask the coach...."what do you have coach?" If they don't agree, and try to bring up something from 3 innings ago......the conversation is now over. DO NOT let them take a stroll down "Memory Lane", 'cause that leads to the Road Outta Here!

  • Well being an umpire you cant be the first to admit your going to make mistakes and not see every single play.

if only one umpire your going to miss a play like it or not. I have talk to fans there fun talking to.

yes you wanna be fair duh.

  • You've got the right idea. NEVER deal w/ the fans. But, you make it sound as if they can heckle you continuously, when in fact they can't. Put the onus and responsibility on the coach.

At the plate meeting, ALWAYS tell the coaches, THEY are responsible for their COACHES, PLAYERS, and FANS.

Also let them know that their is NO AUDIBLE PROFANITY, and ZERO TOLERANCE for throwing equipment. Ask them if they understand. This way they can't say they didn't hear you.

NEVER give 2 warnings. Only 1.

  • i was doing a baberuth leuage and a kid swore. i just said watch the launage. he was furstraed and it understable.

these are kids. teenagers. there out here having fun. not trying to get thrown out of a game.

  • Thats why you should tell the coaches AT THE PLATE MEETING

"No auditory profanity", and ZERO tolerance for throwing bats, helmets, etc.

Now...If a kid mutters F&*k under his breath, you simply tell him..."watch the language".....but if they YELL....F&*K!!!!.....then they get tossed. There are no warnings. The warning was given to the coach at the plate meeting. It's the coaches responsibility to tell the players, and it's the players responsibility to follow directives. If they can't....bye-bye.

  • You gotta be kidding me. This guy should umpire coach pitch ball. Terrible

  • no he shouldn't be an umpire at all!

  • dude, use your spell check. Your computer types with a lisp. You non spelling bastard!!

  • there is no spell check so either deal with it or dont read it.

  • Officer Fife is going to "nip it in the bud" with his hat on backwards.

  • terrible, if I showed up at a field looking like this My UIC would kick my ass.

  • That argument with the coach look so real.
