  • Keep practicing bro lol

  • why in the hell would you let a student put in a 14? I put them in alot in the field for drunks, traumas, etc..but never as a student. That's crazy.

  • Does this count as an F?

  • My instructors had us do this to each other in 1991. You don't see this too often these days.

  • You're brave!

"Call the bloodbank, the students are at it again!" Jesus. I am happy we only practiced with 20g 's!!!

  • I'm taking EMT B and luckly for me we don't do I.V.'s (I flippin' hate needles) I think I closed my eyes at one point...

  • i have so much respect for the guy who got the 14g. so much respect...

  • The receiveing student was the one that drove the teacher nuts...

  • There are only 2 instances when they get a 14g. When they deserve it or need it. Which one is this?

  • worst stick ever.

  • 14g huh ouch.

  • that was the worst stick, poor guy

  • I actually like that idea. Maybe medics won't start a 14 unless necessary after experiencing the pain 1st hand.

  • Someone help, whats the point?

  • I just had one of those shoved in my veins. And I'm a 17 year old girl. HELL YEAH I BLED LIKE HELL.

  • I don't mind needles but dear God if I ever have to get a 14 gauge, please make sure I'm passed out! lol

  • Emr doesnt do iv in the state of Georgia its AEMT that does it

  • We havn't done this in my first responder class D: i should ask my teacher when we get to do this! :D

  • nevermind... the first time ALWAYS bleeds... :)

    nice Video...

  • soo I guess he wasn't holding the vein high enough above the catheter?

  • blooooody!!! but thumbs up.. this is TRUE learning.. good job guys!

  • Poor patient..... Are you ok?

  • that is a seriously gutsy effort of the "patient"....just hope that guy doesn't come anywhere near me or my friends with that style

  • @sandytracks the paramedics that u call when you are in trouble ALL started out this way or at least most did so quit your whining and justenjoy the vid. also for the " patient" he was never in any real danger as their are qualified people around to assist if it should come to that.

  • Damn that would hurt! It looked like it was the first time he put in an iv , maybe you should practice and perfect technique on something smaller like a 22G before going for the big guns? Question...did you remove the leur lock plug from the flashback chamber? That should have kept the blood contained in the chamber and from pouring out until you removed the needle from the cannula

  • MESSY !!!

  • A 14 gauge on a conscious patient? Jesus christ.

  • @nyqs81 Just because a patient is conscious doesnt mean they dont get a 14. IF a multi systems trauma patient is conscious it does not mean they dont get a 14g...

  • @nyqs81 for real 18 at the max

  • @nyqs81 why not? if it is needed. I often take a big iv when the veins are also big. and when you do it fast it doesnt hurt so much

  • @nyqs81 Yup, if you're worried that the patient will lose consciousness at any point, use a large bore cannula (if the veins will take it). Rapid fluid rehydration, pregnant mothers who are expecting any minute, hypoglycemic patients, MI patients, time critical road accident patients, hypovolaemic patients, the list is endless.

  • what is that

  • live live come o man

  • OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

  • Why did it bleed so much??

  • @xxxclixxx It is a 14 gauge cath going into your vein........

  • I see some bubbles going in. Isn't that dangerous?

  • @Rexxxon Small bubbles aren't significant enough to be worried about. Large bubbles that can replace the liquid are the ones that can throw pulmonary embolisms, etc.

  • And that, my friends, is why I only let the other good IV starters in my class start them on me.

  • That is a large IV - but now let him give u a NPA!
