I just bought a yaris.... I always wanted a Toyota cuz my family lives by them that they are dependable good cars that last you a life time. The only one I could afford out of the toyota family was the Yaris even though I really wanted a Corolla, and I was wondering did I get a good car that will last me a long time as well as did I make a good investment?

I'd have one in a second, but I find it VERY VERY difficult to deal with the stupid instrument panel.

It is sad because I like the 2 door hatch.

Do you get used to that stupid panel after awhile?

I have a tiny metro. It is dated, has a harsh ride, and much less HP (better MPG though!)

Don't get me wrong though, I actually have this car, black too, and I absolutely love it. Great gas mileage, good handling with anti-sway bar installed, uber-roomy, and gets great comments everywhere I go.

Have pimped mine up with: A new horn (like a mack truck), Sirius radio, aftermarket power windows, HID headlights, aforementioned anti-sway bar, and ScanGaugeII and a TomTom.

No, The Prius is a rich man's play thing. The Yaris is an inexpensive, practical vehicle.

Damn straight. I get insulted by environazis when I mock the Prius as an overpriced gimmick. I say you can buy one of these and have 10K+ in the bank to pay for gasoline.

Overseas they have a Yaris T1 that gets amazing gas mileage (smaller, lower HP engine of course).

My dream car would probably be a turbodiesel engine anywhere from 1.2-1.4L with a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission....2 door hatch. VW has cars like that.

However, a gas hybrid Yaris (in the works!) is interesting.

I have a 2007 3-door liftback, and it's a good economy car that's fun to drive, especially with the 5-speed manual. I average 40-41 mpg on pure highway runs, about 34-38 mpg on pure city driving, and 37.8 mpg overall combined fuel economy.

We have a Yaris verso from 2000,,, we are the first owne,,,,,, it is a great car,,,,, we want to buy the 2008 (2006) version of the normal yaris 5 doors. Sad that Toyota diddend make the new wans in a verso version

I tested out a Aveo (YUCK), Accent (poorly designed inside), and a Rio 4 door(BOOOORING). I bought the '08 Yaris because it stuck out in a good way, handled nicely, great reputation, and I must say I made the right decision. I don't think that I could like it more than I do :-) Great lil car

Ive had my 4 door yaris hatch for 8 months, its great!! Its not a sports car but i dont care, its just so comfortable and quiet at high speed, amazing for a small car.

I bought my Yaris Last year, and never had any problems with my car. The only thing I didn't like about was the handling, but TRD offers a suspension upgrade, and that is exactly what I did. Now it handles like a BMW 330Ci!

Heh, I drove a Tercel and a Carolla back in the 90's and into early 2000. For some stupid reason I got rid of them and into a full size GMC Sierra ext cab 4x4 and for 3 years I spent over $12000 in fuel, and $6000 in repairs. What was I thinking? I traded it in, and am getting a red 2008 Yaris 3dr Hatch 5sp stick. Cant wait. Monthly payment is 2 tanks of gas for my truck lol I feel like I stole a new car!

Good move. I also got rid of a pickup truck that I didn't need anymore and bought the Yaris last year. Hopefully you didn't/don't have to wait for yours as long as I had to wait for mine!

I have a hatchback and I love it. I get more miles per gallon than my old hyundai accent. I had to sell my accent at 60K miles because of many many problems. Including my timing belt broke at 58k miles and the dealer replace the head twice because it was done wrong the first time. I was lucky that my extended warranty covered it but I was w/o driving for 1 month. No problems with the Yaris.

I have aYaris and just love it! Check this out: Before my yaris I was driving an FX 45 (Infiniti). My payment was $750.00/month. The Yaris: %225.00/month. Fuel per gallon for the Fx: 14/gallon. I hear ya. I used to own a V6 Tacoma that got 21 mpg. When I realized I didn't need a pickup anymore, I was going to trade it in for a bottom-of-the-line Corolla but then learned about the cheaper Yaris which had just come out. I traded in my truck (with money to spare) and got myself a brand new Yaris liftback for a little over 12k. I haven't enjoyed driving a car this much since driving my mother's old '93 Corolla, and all while getting 40-41 mpg.

you may bang on the echo however I owned a 2001 2 door 5 speed. it was zero to 60 in 8.5 seconds, and no matter whether I was doinjg 65 or 85 I was getting 40 to 42 mpg easily. the echo was faster and got better gas mileage. I now own a 2007 yaris 3 door and its also very nice hower the best I can get is 38.5 mpg and its almost as fast as the echo but not quite as the car is heavier. 3 door 250lbs 4 door 400lbs heavier

bullshit i got a 2007 yaris, and i got alot of friends who have echos the fastest stock echo i have seen does 17.1 in the 1/4 my yaris completely stock i did 16.3 in the 1/4 its muchas faster, plus echos max out at about 110-115mph, i took my yaris up to 120mph on the highway and couldve kept going but i spotted police lights in the distance so i quit lol

Was actually kinda fun. Iy took me back 2 my 1st car. Would make a perfect 1st car in highschool. Oh yeah, its WAY bigger inside than it looks on outside. Tall or Fat (not sure about obese) u fit pretty fine.
