I think Jim Morrison is rockin and rolling in his grave!! Chris should have learned the lyrics first... I am a Soungarden fan and a Doors fan and I think it's awesome that they covered this tune, BUT... I just don't like when a band covers a song and doesn't get the lyrics right. It shows a lack of respect to the original. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt tho. Maybe he didn't have a lot of time to rehearse and just did it on the fly. Overall, great cover...

@dreamwad1 Soundgarden's covers of this song have always been weird. Back in the 90s they used to play this song too and in some concerts Chris would start with the proper verse, but sometimes he would sing something different, not the proper lyrics by far (but, I think it added to the originality of the cover)

Cornell and Morrison have totally different voices, but both are completely awesome. The point of this cover was not to copy the Doors, there's not even a keyboard. This is just Soundgarden's spin on one of the Doors most underrated songs. It would be pretty lame if they tried to duplicate the awesomeness of the Doors.

I first heard SG cover this song live at lollapalooza 1996 in Ferris (Dallas), Tx. Until now it is the only time I'd ever heard them play it. Liked the original Doors version and like SG's rocked out take on it.
