  • maybe u should put a net to put over your pond so they cant get to them

  • that's why I'm scared of fishes outdoor lol

  • Hey Dustin, just dropping by to say that I may not comment on your youtube or fishtanktv site. But, I watch and read everything you guys put on there. You've help me out very much so over the past year. And next week when my fiance goes on vacation, BOOM! my 55 planted tank is going dirt!!!!

  • @willywalken you don't gotta say much man, I'm glad you are learning from me and the tribe of fishtank people... haha. LOVE it when you get away with no women around fishtankery... haha, i dirted in an hour! youtube search that...."dirt a planted tank in an hour"

  • why dont you get a pond net for the top of the pond? idk if it will work

  • hate to say I Told You So about mosquito fish. by the way any single adult in mosquito fish in population can live a couple of years. they get pregnant onece a month or so.. your bosemani rainbows wont make a dent in your mosquito fish population.

  • @iyuriy3 i deserve it man! nah, i have confidence. im slowly netting them out and havethe rainbows. I'd get an oscar if i knew i could sell/ giveit back...

  • @Dustinsfishtanks

Considering what you thought about herons getting to you goldfish, I believe you’d mess up your pants if an Oscar fell into the pond :)

If you had a big pond, I think the best solution would be to look for Gambusia’s natural predators.

Net them out while you feed them. They’ll come up and you’ll just scoop them out. Goldfish and bosemani may get in the way. that's the best way i can think of it.

    good luck.

  • Snakes will get them as well. Kid you not. BTW if you put a rubber snake on the edge of your pond it might keep the heron away. Good thing for you there are enough live plants for them to hide. I know someone who got cleaned out by a heron in a small pond.

  • @paducahFishFan i need to find a toy store,,,good call

  • why aren't your goldfish breeding ?

  • @MsYoungreef they only breed in late may and probably have eaten most of the eggs

  • This happened to me once..... I made my first pond and put some goldfish in .....

The next day i didn't see in them in the pond when i went to feed them..... i cried all morning....

but it turns out they were hiding in the folds of the liner..... I thought the raccon got them ......

    Good Times :D

  • @MrLearn2fly its a trip haha

  • i had a problem with coons getting my goldies, try geting 4 long thin peices of lumber that fit your ponds edges and staple a thin chicken wire or thick screen mesh to it, and lay it over your pond at night or when your not home. sloved all my problems.

  • @DareEhler probably should do this....

    what about tall plants?

  • @Dustinsfishtanks cut an opening into the wood near where your tall plants are so its missing a small part of the end near them and then just cut the mesh/chicken wire to fit so it will just slide into the notch like opening.

  • Hey Dustin I see u LOVE your goldfish, so just an idea u should build like a removable mesh fence for the top of your pond.

  • @vi3tguyy something...thanks

  • you should think of some heron repellant

  • dustin you should make a Species Sunday on black moors.

  • @dominodude007 good call

  • i dont know if this is something youd do but people up here put pvc pipe in there pond for the fish to hide in when birds come around

  • @27deathage ishould get those big ones that are clay

  • That pond looks like its former algae problem is gone. Way to go. I guess that's the power of a balanced pond

  • @unsnogworthy its getting better...manual removal and a water change, helps. not feeding the fish either...

  • ohman, I'm happy to hear that they're all still alive, I love all my goldfish in my pond far too much too! Is there a reason you don't have a net over the pond? Just because it doesn't look good?

  • @WindMadeSolid basically looks....and the big plants

  • Just get a net, bro.

    Problem solved

  • @AquaJtang thats what i said

  • your goldfish are so beautiful! I have a large preformed pond unit with only two goldfish, but when we move country in a few months im going to have lots of goldies!

  • @Bazil1869 not really tons of plants...

  • great pond and glad most of them are good

  • Great Video, lol sorry though, stupid heron
