Dead Island - How To Kill Thugs, Floaters, Rams, And Butchers With Melee Weapons

One good weapon for killing thugs is in my opinion the phoenix fire ax. It's heavy enough to do damage, it has a long reach so you don't even have to worry about dodging the punches they throw, and at about the third or fourth hit, they start flaming, and scream like little girls as they thrash around, then fall to the ground. The ax is also good at taking down rams, and also butchers. Being short, for butchers you have to aim low with the ax, but still; the phoenix fire ax is very effective!

Another way to kill thugs it to break or chop their arms off then they can only headbut which is weak

i was fighting a floater in the sewers the other day and i threw my machete at him while he was in the water and he died. when i went to pick up my machete the floater was gone and so was my machete. has this happened to anyone else.

also i was fighting a thug and a floater and when i died for like the third time it sent me ahead or something and all the weapons that i threw at the thug to kill him like my other machete was left behind. has any of this happened to anyone else.

for floaters just run towards it while dodging the vomit. stand abit behind him while close becausae he will do the spray vomit. once it's done, kick him. he'll lik stumble. then whack him with anything. does the trick. butchers u could kick him once and swing once and get back and repeat.

@purerone Yeah, kicks on floaters work really well, as do hits in the back. As far as butchers are concerned, when I try to do that I always end up getting hit several times. Maybe I just suck :P

Since i play primarily w/ Xien Mei, I target the thug right arm then cut it off. Then after he swings cut off his other arm. Then either cut off his leg or decapitate him. sunofabitch will try to bite once armless!

anotther way to kill Floater is u dodge the vomit and run around his back (also watch out for his round vomit when u run behind him) and then slash-slash-slash.. just another faster way to kill them
