@cassetteman1 - I doubt that many people used 4.75 on this machine. But it was build on the same mechanical design as the Beocord 1000 which was a better-than-average 3 speed mono machine. So it probably made more sense from a logistical point of view to make the 1500 (and the 2000) a 3 speed model as well.
Is that a "V" controller? Very interesting. I've seen the "T" controllers on the Craigs and Norelco cassette machines, but never a V controller. Des the machine disengage the tape from the heads during fast forward and rewind? I just wonder why we can hear the sound during these modes. Nice machine though! Thanks for the video.
Hello and thank you for your comments, the controller is of a crows foot, up for play, right for fast forward and left for rewind, the recorder has pressure pads which push the tape towards the heads during play and the sound you hear is the tape passing close to the heads but not touting
Cheers, this one was sold to a buy who did nothing but complain about this lovely recorder, it's a shame I have limited space as I would love to keep them all.
I have a Beocord 200 de luxe. It has great sound but I use it mainly as an amplifier not a tape recorder. What kind of tape do you use for B&O 1500? Is there a bias adjustment somewhere?

Amazing sound! Personally I think this sounds better than the vaunted Tandberg 64 series from the period.
More detail, better separation, more transparent.
In fact, I think it sounds overall equal to Revox 36 series, just different.
How difficult was it for you to bring it up to specs?
I'm thinking of getting Beocord 2000 reel to reel.
