So who gives a toss about the $5 per person per day debt Labor is racking up?

- what about some numbers that matter - like the TRIPLING of house prices during the Howard years - medians up from $150,ooo to $450,ooo - ie $300,ooo bigger mortgages on the same property - meaning an extra $600,ooo-$900,ooo to ultimately be paid to the banks in interest over 30 years. 30 years = approx 10,ooo days, so thats an extra $900,ooo over 10,ooo days - ie. $90 a day increase just in mortgage payments. And yes EVERYONE pays tax of one form ar another - even your 12 year old daughter pays GST on many of her consumer goods and services. More to the point - debts are pushed forward to future generations and in 6 years or so she pay income tax. Or uni fees - whatever - EVERYONE pays into the system somewhere.

Australia happily took in Vietnamese refugees in the 70's with both parties in agreement. Howard and Hanson played the race card and Australia hasn't quite got out of this mess with border protection used as an elction winning tool.
