I agree that wild animals belong in the wild. Animals in captivity should only be so for their welfare. By studying creatures in the wild and in captivity, we can learn about their strengths and how to aid them if they need help. I think helping us to learn about their species is a good trade for food and protection from predators.
There's always an issue about captive animals, but I do think that they do good. Most people only care about what they know. As long as these 'ambassadors' are treated well, I think they serve a good purpose.

Considering most octos only live for 1 to 3 years, I would guess around a year.
