  • Best wishes to julka1 who gets married today!!

  • @retroman1962 Thanks' Stuart it was really nice to see you there. Yes i am now officially married and a very happy bunny. Now for anyone wondering Stuart aka "Retroman" is the second biggest White Horses fan on the planet. He located where the film stock was held in Germany and later this led to the series being subtitled back into English by myself and and retranslated into scripts by Jerry Lancaster and Jay Felton...much love to all of you and also all the people who visit my Julka1 site.

  • Beautiful. It brought tears of nostalgia to my eyes. I adored watching this when I was young and went horse riding. How has gentleness been so lost?

  • @Fenlandia Its the curse of growing up.

  • @Fenlandia Brings back memories of long summer holidays and the total freedom of childhood.

  • Oh this made me cry - wonderful series I just loved this when I was little.

  • Kids today dont know what they missed! i suppose we were lucky that we had great shows on tv in the hollidays!

  • my mum showed me this! i love it!

  • HORSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D

  • The good old days folkes!!! School, homework and tv!!!

  • The opening scene is very suspect if you ask me....

  • So great to see! Its the truffles episode I remember too!

  • Well i was more of a Flashing Blade and Robinson Crusoe fan - but love this song ! Great memories

  • .....just makes me want to curl up on the sofa, with Mr Bear and a cup of hot milk, Mum's voice drifting through from the kitchen....rain pattering on the window, warm and safe, not a care in the world. Why do we have to grow up.

  • @steve998 Oh my goodness you conjure up such a beautiful warm cuddly winters day. Its a pity we have to become adults and face the harsh world of reality.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Fantastic!! I remember an episode where they discovered some land mines (unless my memory is playing tricks). My wife remembers an episode involving truffles.

  • @trailerparkboy247 I seem to remember the land mine one myself but I dont remember the Truffles. Although I recorded this theme tune I loved watching the series, when I could.

    Jackie Lee.

  • me and my horse silver will be starring in the new theme tune CD for this tv show which will be released on october 24th ;) keep an eye out

  • Brings back alot of memories. Lovely song.

  • I love horses that can tack themselves up! Thanks for posting this, great memories of sunkissed Euro teenagers...

  • I used to watch this in the school holidays in 1971 and I wished I went out with Kim Lomas and she said she fancied me, but being 11 years old I was too shy to say I fancied her too. This programme was always a 1971 reminder, and brings back memories of Kim. My name is Zoran. How about it Kim ? ?

  • Thanks for posting this and an excellent response to that gawd awful version

  • larvlee, love the song, Catatonia used to do a cover. Reminds me of the summer hols.

  • @RadiantsUK Thanks for loving the song, I must admit I never heard of Catatonia and never knew she covered White Horses.

    Jackie Lee.

  • I dreamt of a white horse last night, now i see why!

  • damn .... I missing you, because you like this song.

  • I like this song cos I missing someone who make me upset and smile.

  • Should be on tv now,can remember it been repeated every summer holidays in the seventies....memories .

  • Wonderful memories from when I was a child. This is what Youtube was invented for!

  • The ultimate 70's girlie show

  • haha i was in love with julia when i was a kid ! used to watch this in the school holls !! brilliant !

  • OMG i remember this. Thats showing my age!!

  • OMG!!!!!! I have been thinking about this series that I watched as a little girl and I asked my teenage children if i googled it would it be somewhere in the archives, they said try youtube and I'm so glad that i did as we sat round the screen and listened to the soundtrack, my children were smiling at me as tears fell down my face as i recalled my youth and happy days. Thank you youtube

  • @GGla45 Tha's so sweet, I am so pleased you were able to find this video. Oh! youth, we dont realize at the time how precious those days are. Thanks for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @GGla45 Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.....Yep, that's like me too. Beautiful tune. Best theme tune ever.

  • @GGla45 I also grew up with this soundtrack , did you watch robinson crusoe ?

  • great memories...

  • @MAGNUM2F Yes i did in fact i recored it from the tv on an old JVC VHS recorder, it was a super programme, but White Horses was the true Summer Time series.

  • Those were the days when television programming made for children was in my opinion of a much higher quality than it is today.

  • @sjd1956 I tend to agree with you. Thank you for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Hey Jackie, no body sings it like you, the best,i rest my case.

  • @fastfire97 Thanks for that. I always think that the original of any hit recording is the best.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee

Alright Jackie? I spoke to you long ago, in another name here. How are you doing? Think I was going on about coming home to tea in Carmarthen, Wales, to watch White Horses in the late 1960's, with my mother cooking me boiled egg with toast, or a hake steak, fish!

Anyway, brilliant colourful Rupert the Bear clip here, with you singing over it, from Rupert the Bear annual covers it looks. Excellent quality. All the best Jackie.

    youtube copy paste and search,

    watch?v=GQqK-1_YeZ0

  • Thank you so much for sharing this rare and wonderful episode from all our youths.

Love & Gentle Light to Helga - Ian xxx

  • Happy Days and simpler times!!!

  • A gentler more civilized age!

  • @SRWB10 I do think you are right.

    Jackie Lee.

  • actually the title should be "grey horses"

  • @MickeyLove01 The Horses are more white than grey. In fact the Horses that I had my Promo photos taken with were white and they were the same breed.

    Jackie Lee.

  • debbie harry could of covered this song brilliantly in the seventies, it would of been great.

  • Love this tune, brings back happy memories Jo

  • @MonTownMassive Hi Jo, thanks for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • How I used to dream of owning one of those beautiful white horses as a child. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

  • How wonderful to hear this again, and how great to have Jackie herself commenting on it - it's still the most magical, dreamlike, haunting tune that ever graced a TV series!

I fell in love with Helga Anders when I watched this as a teenager, and was desperately sad to discover what a short and troubled life she had afterwards. It makes the innocence and beauty of this wonderful series all the more poignant.

  • @julka1 Hi Julka thank you loo forward to sharing this amazing series with my daughter 7 year old daughter Julia!! Yes how strange and she is obsessed with horses!!!!!

  • @julka1 Oh my what a lump this has brought to my throat happy happy days of childhood!!!!!!! I so wish the series would be repeated, everyone of my generation remembers it with such love!!! Thank you for sharing this!! Diana

  • @dianajclarke2064 Hi Diana, it is a beautiful series that is for certain.

There is the original English subtitled version available on my "White Horses" website if you follow the link at the top of this UTube page or Google... White Horses tv series 1968 wordpress ..

  • @dianajclarke2064 I agree. Haven't seen/heard it for the best part of 40 years ! Used to watch what was probably only the 2nd or 3rd time repeats (!) when I was about 7 or 8 ! On the Beeb in the mornings - reminds me of (primary) school holidays.

  • Jackie Lee is a legend. Only ONE version of this song can stir so much emotion, and that is the haunting tones of Jackie's voice. Wonderful !

  • @scoobyandme1 Well thank you for your praise. When I first saw the music of White Horses and read the lyrics I knew I had to do something magical with it. I came up with the idea of the double tracking and then adding my harmonies to it I think it did the trick.Even though I say it mself I was very pleased with the final product.

    Jackie Lee.

  • ive just been timewarped back to 1976,the sun is never ending during a long hot summer.

Its the school holidays, the ice cream has arrived and beg my mummy for 10p to get an strawberry split, i rush back in to watch the double deckers then go on a cycle run on my beloved chopper bike.

Its not all good news though...its bath night !!!! AAAAAAGHHHH

  • takes me back to six weeks school holidays in the 70s if you could turn back time

    boo hoo

    wayne davidson

  • @555846 Yes I must say I remember those six weeks of abdolute heaven when I did not have to go to to school which I abhored with a passion, lol, and boohoo for times gone by. If only we could turn back the clock.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Simply just ohhhhh yeahhhhhhhh

  • @deansusky Oh Ye I love your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Lovely theme tune.

  • Taking me back to my summer holidays in the 70s!

  • @VinnyMonster1 Oh! please can we turn back the clock.

    Jackie Lee.

  • who did the beautiful music? in my mind its what made the sereis.

  • @wordscontrolminds Are you refering to the arrangement or me the Artist who sang it?

    Jackie Lee.

  • Makes me want to cry for long lost times when everyone was happy and the world was always sunny

  • @adamkincaid1234 Oh, dont cry. I think the world was a happier place to be in as we were much younger and hadn't a care in the world, our parents had all those worries on their backs. Weren't we the lucky ones.

    Jackie Lee.

  • she also sang the theme to Rupert the Bear.

  • @rodley25 Right on Rodley.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Lovely.

  • @mcwolfus Thank you for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @tustles Glad you like it so much Tustles and thank you for taking the time to make a comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Memory lane :)

  • @pyrostone It's a cover version from a group called "The speed of sound" perhaps you downloaded the wrong track..I 've heard there version and it's a little bit like Brian Ferry singing White Horses. The original Jacky album is still awaiting release. I still like covers of the song but Jacky's is the definitive version.

  • @julka1 I think I see the trouble: CDBaby have a "speed of sound" and a "the speed of sound" on their books.

The one without 'the' is contemporay jazz - and they have a piano... having just listened to it I can say it is quite pleasant too! Don't know who they are but glad you liked it!

And CD Baby don't use 'the' in their song weblinks.

Confusing - but I think that caused the bother.

The single has a prehistoric chalk-horse on the cover.

Have a listen and ride awaaay awaaay awaaay...

  • I was trying to find this song as I'm having a nostalgic 'childrens style' party for my 52nd birthday and this was the first song that came to my mind. Now just got to find somewhere I can download it! Thank you for posting it, will look at your website link.

  • @kerri526 I do hope you find a way of downloading my White Horses recording for your party. Happy 52nd Birthday.

    Cheers,

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee As it is not easy these days to find your recording of White Horses I just thought I'd mention that if you fancied re-recording it - I know where you could find a willing backing band;)

    And

@kerri526 - happy birthday hope the party goes/went well!

  • @660mph Well thank you for the offer. However, I dont think I would make as good a job as I did then.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee I do hope they re-release your version. I was looking for it for a party in 2005 and was astounded that it wasn't available. (My copy of yours is the original vinyl single - which I was very pleased to find!)

  • When I was in infant school, there was a little girl my class who said she always cried when this tune was played. Everytime I hear this song I think of my early school days in Bayswater. Sweet memories.

  • @brucebrucelois That is such a darling memory. In fact I lived very close to the Bayswater Road when I lived in the UK.

    Jackie Lee.

  • bin men used to come in your garden to your bin, they be whistling ,sunday was dead quiet can of coke was dirt cheap mojos sweets and roast chicken mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Blimey - came across thsi by chance. As a child back in the 60's I always thought this was for girls, BUT, being that I was from a Council Estate in the industrial North West of England - I couldn't believe the lifestylewhich was so different from my own. Always seemed to be sunshining!

  • that girl died so early... what a waste

  • Thank you so much julka1, am going to take a look at the link, what a trip down memory lane !!

  • oh my god, I cant believe this is here, thank you so much for posting it, i loved this as a child. One of my favourite episodes was where the pet dog (I think it was called Hector) was going to be put down because a jealous girl said he bit her but he was saved in the end. Dont suppose anyone has this?

  • @Steviebabe555 Hi Stevie it's from the episode "A Dog's life" and the poor dog Hector was blamed with having Rabies but saved by the ever resourceful Julia. For more info on the series visit my website the link is at the top of the page.

  • I spent my childhood summers watching White Horses, The Flashing Blade and Robinson Crusoe too !

    Good times !

They were better summers than we get now wern't they ?

  • @blines799 I have to agree with you I watched those shows myself when I had the time which was not often I also agree with you about the summers, they did seem more beautiful then.

    Jackie Lee..

  • What a wonderful trip down memory lane. That theme tune will be forever in my memory........and the owner of that beautiful voice is here.....nice to see your comments Ms Lee

  • @pnbond007 And I thank you for your comment. If people take the time to write to me I think it only right that i reciprocate. Also I love reading them and answering them.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @pnbond007 Thank you for your words of praise, it is so wonderful that people like yourself still remember my White Horses Theme song, wasn't I lucky the lucky one to have been asked to record it and see and hear it on such a memorable show.

    All the Best,

    Jackie Lee.

  • WONDERFUL THEME SONG

  • Ms Lee, MFP- Music For Pleasure was a record label. I had a few of their titles. There were big name 'Greatest Hits' LPs Compilation albums and Records for Children. I'm not sure if, like the 'Top Of The Pops' LPs, they used sound a-likes, instead of the genuine recording artists, to keep costs low.

  • @J66BSK Yes, unfortunately they do use sound alikes on some of these compilation CD"s. However to be copied is I suppose I am told a form of flattery. However, I am pleased to say that there are a couple of CD"s out there that are the real McCoy, meaning myself. You seem to be quite aware of what goes on in the music business, great stuff.

    Jackie Lee.

  • billiant, takes me back, and yes i used to watch flashing blade an robinson crusoe

  • @bobby6517 Hi Bobby, I must admit I watched those two shows myself when I had the time.

    Jackie Lee.

  • loved the song then even as a child,i bought an MFP version that was all my folks could afford at the time, not sure if it was yours Jackie, listening to it on this grey january day in 2011, takes me back and i have to admit shedding some tears...there is a wistful sadness to your song...thankyou for making great music that will be here forever GS

  • @greggstoned Hi there Gregg,

I'm not sure what you mean by the term MFP so I wouldn't know if it is my recording or not I think it all depends on when the MFP was purchased. I am so glad to hear that White Horses brings back happy memories of your childhood. Thank you for sharing them with me.

    Jackie Lee..

  • Ms Lee, what a memorable song and your beautiful soft voice too!

This takes me back to my childhood, happy memories.

I do hope your song gets it's own cd release, it SO deserves it.

  • @J66BSK Thank you so much for your comment, let's hope my White Horses is re-released that would be terrific. Thanks for the thought.

    Jackie Lee.

  • 00:53 incredible horse women, totally tight to the neck. Brilliant riding.

  • Going gooey at the knees listening to this Jackie - I wonder if you ever realised you would capture the memories of a generation when you recorded this tune? Thank you. I did find an MP3 copy on the web but eagerly await your disc!

  • @nijmegen1964 I would love to know what an MP3 is. I am not at all up with these new fangled words. To answer your question, I in my wildest dreams never thought when I recorded White Horses it would bring back such wonderful memories to so many many people and I am truly honored and a little speechless by it all. Thank you so much for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • what a beautiful song i wish i could go back to the time when i was sat there watching this and the song well what can i say better than it ever was the voice superb beyond belief thank you for the chance just to turn back the clock and what a path you gave people back to a better time it means so much to so many and will always be so Thank you

  • @creccy I thank you for that lovely comment. Yes indeed, if we could only turn back the clock wouldn't that be just great for most of us. I Wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Can anybody please tell me where I can buy this song and others from the era ?

  • @tasteygeezer Hi there, I myself do not have a copy of my White Horses disc , however I think you can find it on a complation "Girls #?",I'm not sure of the number?. We are hoping aginst hope that it will be out on a new disc of mine sometime in the coming year.

    Cheers,

    Jackie Lee.

  • @andy4248 That's the first time I have heard of my voice being called sensual, thanks Andy for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Hi Ms Lee - I always loved this song when I was a child growing up in England, and even now aged 40 and when I want a little bit of escapism I play your song on my ipod. Best wishes to you and thank you for the beautiful memories

  • @yeovil50 Thank you for your lovely comment. It is still so amazing to me to hear all of the wonderful stories that are still being written about my White Horses recording, they pull at my heart strings. Thank you so much for yours.

    Jackie Lee.

  • i love this song - it is magical

  • @mooners40 I thank you , I must say I had no idea when I recorded White Horses it would still mean so much to so many people.

    Jacki Lee.

  • @andy4248 Hi Andy, what a great idea, an OBE, I think you should draw up a petition and send it the queen, tee, hee. Thanks for the thought. You say the nicest things.

    Bests,

    Jackie Lee.

  • great

  • @z30soulbrother Well thank you soulbrother.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Great song, but the show was too soppy for me.

  • @Keith2855 Ha Ha Ha, thats funny. Remember, you were a young boy, I bet you wouldn't watch a show like that would you, or admit to it if you did. lol.

    Jackie lee.

  • I remember this............it was so spooky and badly dubbed.....memories are made of this

  • @brahmin21 I wouldn't call it spooky. I wonder what show you are talking about. It was made especially with children in mind. Thats the first time I have heard that expression regarding the White Horses Series.

    Jackie Lee.

  • To a more beautiful and innocent time, when i was free.

  • @bengusandlex I agree with you.

    Jackie Lee.

  • fond memories....my it takes me back, wish I was there again!! Aged 9 or ten!

  • @hayleybun22 Thank you for your comment and yes I also wish I could go back to those carefree day's.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @andy4248 Hi Andy, I would love to see the recent photo you have just seen, I wonder where that came from. I must say I do try and keep myself as fit as I possibly can. It's not easy, as I would rather not be on the tread mill, however, it does pay off in the end as far as my health is concerned.

    Cheers,

    Jackie Lee.

  • Oh my, I used to watch this in the summer holidays.

  • I am transported directly back to the 1970s. YouTube takes you back to times and places you thought you'd never see or hear again. The emotion evoked can take you unaware.

Happy memories are naturally sad because you just want those times back again and you can't. nevertheless I cherish every last drop of memory from my formative years. They make me what I am.

  • @21shergar I agree with your sentement. If only we could go back to wonderful days gone by, wouldn't that be marvelous.

    All the very Best,

    Jackie Lee.

  • The best,iam back there.Thanks.

  • @MrLoxley123 Thanks for your comment Mr Loxley.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Thanks for uploading this :D I had a wonderful blast of nostalgia for those happy days of childhood and then was able to play this for my daughter - after telling her about the stand out things of my childhood here it is on YT!! wonderful. loved this song .

  • @1122Alison Thank you so much Alison for taking time out to comment on the White Horses series and my recording. I do hope that your daughter enjoyed it as much as yourself.

Kindest regards to you and your daughter,

    Jackie Lee.

  • Oh my goodness,i cant believe its Jackie Lee talking about my favourite song & series of my youth, also the 1st 45 i ever bought.I loved the B side too."To many chiefs & not enough indians. Lots of love to you Jackie.X

  • @grumpytractordriver1 Hi there, thank you for your very nice comment. Do you still have that 45. I never kept one myself, I should have, I suppose.

    Kindest Regards,

    Jackie Lee.

  • Congrats on reaching over the 500.00 mark. I am impressed.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Hi Jackie it's a landmark number to hit for sure, but it's your song that's the reason people keep viewing and Louis Elmans super feel good dubbing.

I will be in touch before Christmas with more Photos of Princess Purdy!

  • @julka1 Hi to you again, I am looking forward to the princesses photo's. Thanks a lot for the compliment.

    Jackie Lee.

A beautiful movement from here to then.

  • @DexterTCN Thank you for your comment Dexter.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Loved the summer holidays from school as it meant I got to watch this.

  • @LizzyRocks I must say it is nice to look back on happy memories of our youth.

    Jackie Lee.

  • ........havin' a 70's night with some mates......who remembers these clips from their childhood then......excellent memories of gambo's & gobstoppers......enjoy :)

  • @shooshmun You sound like a guy with the mates bit, I do miss that phrase as I dont hear it much here in BC Canada where I now abide.

    Cheers,

    Jackie Lee.

  • my early t.v memories.................

  • omg, I love it, talk about remembering my childhood. I used to love this series

  • @northernla55 I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the series.

    Jackie Lee

  • This is what the kids of today should watch. These kinds of TV series which we in Asia have been so unfortunate not to be able to grow up with. We grew up with combat through and Batman and Robin, and Hawaii five-O, but not this!!!!

  • @cca12457 What a pity you didn't get to see this delightful series in Asia or even hear my Theme song, you never know I may have had a hit with my record there as it was in the UK and Europe.

    All the Best,

    Jackie Lee.

  • My beautiful boy whickers at the window...I think of this from my childhood...

  • I love this tune even now as fully heterosexual 47y old man, is there a Belle and Sebastian clip. Any remember those do or die Aeronauts who used to fly mirage jets?

  • @nowoolovermine Hello you heterosexual male, thanks for liking my Theme song and for the comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • i share the same thoughts with you watching this. beautiful its a pity we didnt have this kind in the philippines when i was younger. what a priviledge all you who have enjoyed this in your youth! to be able to grow up with this kind of series, ohhhh!!!

  • @cca12457 Yes it is a shame to hear you did not have this series in the Phillippines. However it is a wonderful thing that you can now view it and I hope enjoy it and of course my Theme song White Horses. Thank you so much for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • I'm gonna cry... any second... now...

  • @diskochimp I was going to write the same thing virtually.

This song is extremely tender...i love it so much.

  • @suzylux Thank you for commenting on my White Horses Theme song I really appreciate it.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @diskochimp I do hope if you did cry they were tears of joy. Thanks so much for you comment.

    Jackie Lee

  • It makes me think of school holidays, so long ago now.
