I think there is a mistake in the 1st sentence, where he says,"The Revelation of st. John the divine." John was/is not divine, only God is divine.

To drop a comment:
"divine" actually has another meaning in old English: "theologian". Even today, the academic study of theology is still often called "divinity" and people who have degrees on the discipline are called "doctors of divinity", even though they are obviously not 'divine'. Hence, the title means 'St. John the theologian' in modern English.
