Everybody is missing a point (those who respond to my comment). They went back in time to save the civilization? So why did they go: a) in a time period when Earth's biggest predators and hostile carnivores roamed unhindered; b) in a time that is surely to meet it's demise. How are they gonna survive a meteor, without having to enter Industrial and Atomic age - again? How are they gonna survive it without polluting the planet - again?
i think it would be awesome if they made it more like dino crisis.. more horror and more chilling in the big ass jungle :D more gore too.. not much but some

@Malaikat31 THANK YOU, I asked that same question. I think there going to go with that whole "were in an alternative time line so that's not going to happen", which would be stupid. Maybe they went like 600 years before the meteor, so they can build up society so that when the meteor come they can destroy it with some laser or somthing, i'm not sure. I hope they bring that up thought.

Inevitably, their internal temperature sank when the temperature of the Earth sank because of the meteor. People and other mammals, on the other hand, are homeothermic, so they can easily adapt to their surroundings and changing temperatures. That's one of the reasons mammals survived the meteor hit in the first place.

I watched the whole series and I liked it! It's like an 80s cheesy scifi series! And that's why I like it! I do hope they renew it for at least another season!
About the special effects: the dinosaur animation in this series might just as well have been right out of a '90s docu on dinos. It really is horrible, not one single effect meets photorealistic standards. Now take JP (1993); its effects, with a few exeptions, looks as good today as they did upon theatrical release. It boggles me have they actually managed to create the best cgi dinos to date, using stone age computers, and with little built up experience with computer graphics. Terra, bye bye.

The show has alot of potential. And im sorry but its The grandfather paradox and they came from 2149 . Its a great show, good actors and a incredible plot. The ratings are not to low and most shows get better after season 1. They have established a fan base now on around 6 million, where only 300k are on the FB page, contribute people, lets do a Chuck. There are also a couple of cheesy lines said here and there, but its a great show. It has a lot of potential; and will do better and better if they fix a couple of minor things.

Why does Josh look like he was adopted? I mean he doesn't look like the other children in terms of skin color. For the girls, the casting directors seemed to go out of their way to find actresses that looked like they were the biological kids of Jim and Elisabeth. Nothing wrong with being white, but that sticks out.. And if he was adopted, how will that play into the story about why Jim went to jail in the first place?

saw my first episode of terra nova i think it was episode 2 it was the one were people lost their memory in outpost 3. I managed to sit through the first three episodes. I'll never have that time back. The acting is fine, the direction is okay, the concept is actually really good. The writing is absolutely appalling and I've seen locally made children's television with better CGI. Where is all this money going if it's been so expensive to create???
Although it does seem understanable to at least ask the Voice actors to take a pay cut down to a measly 4 million.
seriously, I was rooting for most of the children to get eaten, but I liked the adults. The son seemed better at the end of the pilot, and his brainiac sister seems like she's going to save there asses one episode or two.
i've watched both episodes so far... the pilot was ok but it didn't explain enough about the future for me. Like why do they have to wear the mask RIGHT outside thier front door but when they open the door no one inside seems to mind the outside air coming in. Or exactly how he escaped from a maximum security prison with a laser knife. What is he some futuristic Macgyver. And if they allowed her to keep the kid then why wouldn't their daughter be allowed to go to Terra Nova?
TN didn't impress me as much as jurrasic park did. And i quickly picked out a lot of bad pot holes in the show. it's clear that they stole a lot from avatar. chances are it won't last a season without improvement.

why would they go back in the future, knowing that an astroid will hit the earth tousand thousands of years later... where reptiles are in charge of the planet.. and not just go there AFTER the astroid hit the earth which was the beginning of the reign of the mammels?
@lessofyou Like Guyofman said they can't choose what time they go to. With that though, it being a different timeline and not the one of "our" earth maybe that timeline doesn't have an asteroid that will hit it 20 million years from when they got there.
Terranova has the chance to be an amazing show. it's main plot idea is pretty good. I don't think you should start talking about the characters yet before they are fully developed.

i agree with jeremy about the show. its meh. as they get more into the drama aspect of the show, i bet they are going to stray away from the sci-fi/creature part of it. the biggest hook of the show is not the rebel factions or any of the casts, but the dinos. and since its a time travel its not like they gonna pop out a bad ass dino we never heard about. its gonna be the same dinos we all know about and the hippie nature is not leathal interaction.

i thought it was shit, acting was mediocre, pretty cliched, cgi was awful considering the budget. walking dead and game of thrones were far superior in the cg department. Even monsters which was filmed on 500k had better cgi. The leader of the camp was too similar to his character in avatar, even giving a similar opening speech. It was like the producers thought "well, people liked jurassic park, lost and avatar, this is gunna be huge!" erm no, just no... seemed very rushed

My theory for time travel is that if you go back in time, history has already played out as if you had gone back in time. It won't change the future, it just determines the future. The only instance where that wouldn't work is if I went back in time and killed my father in his youth. If that happened, it would probably screw up the laws of space-time and end the universe as we know it.
I don't really like the whole alternate timeline thing, because it wouldn't work. It is impossible for two timelines to occupy the same space at the same time (so to speak), so there couldn't be just an alternate timeline alone, there would have to be an alternate dimension for the timeline to take place in, and where would that come from? The whole concept is highly unlikely, so I don't really buy it.

i think the show is very flat. for myself, i dont like any of the characters. i dont hope it gets cancelled but since they cancelled shows like human targets which started off alot better then this show in my opinion does not look good for jurrasic park/dino crisis 2 aka terra nova.

Things I hated about the pilot
1. Anything with the teens (I'm a teenager, and I hated them)
2. Fake looking dinos (Carnos looking really shiny)
3. Shaky cam during what action scenes they had
4. Slashers (1. Why did you have to amke up a dinosaur 2. While feathers on raptors are accurate, they look silly 3. They're called slashers. So childish)
5. The teens survive a slasher attack (No freaking way)
6. Spielberg family schmultzyness really apparent
7. Rip-off of Primeval (BBC tv series)

It broke the record Lost set for most expensive pilot. However it had worse acting, special effects, writing, and directing... Not worth the money.

I managed to sit through the first three episodes. I'll never have that time back. The acting is fine, the direction is okay, the concept is actually really good. The writing is absolutely appalling and I've seen locally made children's television with better CGI. Where is all this money going if it's been so expensive to create???

Although it does seem understanable to at least ask the Voice actors to take a pay cut down to a measly 4 million.
seriously, I was rooting for most of the children to get eaten, but I liked the adults. The son seemed better at the end of the pilot, and his brainiac sister seems like she's going to save there asses one episode or two.

i've watched both episodes so far... the pilot was ok but it didn't explain enough about the future for me. Like why do they have to wear the mask RIGHT outside thier front door but when they open the door no one inside seems to mind the outside air coming in. Or exactly how he escaped from a maximum security prison with a laser knife. What is he some futuristic Macgyver. And if they allowed her to keep the kid then why wouldn't their daughter be allowed to go to Terra Nova?

TN didn't impress me as much as jurrasic park did. And i quickly picked out a lot of bad pot holes in the show. it's clear that they stole a lot from avatar. chances are it won't last a season without improvement.

@lessofyou Like Guyofman said they can't choose what time they go to. With that though, it being a different timeline and not the one of "our" earth maybe that timeline doesn't have an asteroid that will hit it 20 million years from when they got there.

i agree with jeremy about the show. its meh. as they get more into the drama aspect of the show, i bet they are going to stray away from the sci-fi/creature part of it. the biggest hook of the show is not the rebel factions or any of the casts, but the dinos. and since its a time travel its not like they gonna pop out a bad ass dino we never heard about. its gonna be the same dinos we all know about and the hippie nature is not leathal interaction.

And that dissapointed me. more dinoes less teens please! they need to "harness the power" "DINO RIDERS" Stupid idea maybee but atleast it would entertain me seeing dinoes toting armour and guns. as it is now this show is boring. idc about the main family at all and I think they are the focus.

i thought it was shit, acting was mediocre, pretty cliched, cgi was awful considering the budget. walking dead and game of thrones were far superior in the cg department. Even monsters which was filmed on 500k had better cgi. The leader of the camp was too similar to his character in avatar, even giving a similar opening speech. It was like the producers thought "well, people liked jurassic park, lost and avatar, this is gunna be huge!" erm no, just no... seemed very rushed

i liked it for the most part except it felt a bit to famil-lee if that makes sense like a family sits down to watch it but the parents make the kids leave at violent parts i know its all like that but as an example a black chick ran into the jungle and got mauled by raptors like 6 of them. her leg had some bite marks and a few cuts and scraps..didnt die...lame..

My theory for time travel is that if you go back in time, history has already played out as if you had gone back in time. It won't change the future, it just determines the future. The only instance where that wouldn't work is if I went back in time and killed my father in his youth. If that happened, it would probably screw up the laws of space-time and end the universe as we know it.

I don't really like the whole alternate timeline thing, because it wouldn't work. It is impossible for two timelines to occupy the same space at the same time (so to speak), so there couldn't be just an alternate timeline alone, there would have to be an alternate dimension for the timeline to take place in, and where would that come from? The whole concept is highly unlikely, so I don't really buy it.
