It is not fair to stereotype people's race. If a White guy plays the same piece, half the comments wouldn't be posted. People get the parents pushing their kids idea from the Jackie Chan remake of the "Karate Kid".
Practicing for hours? In my high school, I know someone at the top 5%. While many of us spent hours to complete assignments (math & chemistry test, 1000-word essay). He would spend 2h max. He worked smarter, not harder.
Try giving up 1 hour of TV and put into productive use...
and yes, this peice by Bach is pretty low level in terms of difficulty. Now if he had been playing a prelude and fugue at his age, then I'd be quite impressed. This was the first semi-difficult piece I learned and I had only been playing for a few years.
it has nothing to do with being asian -_- they are either 1) forced to practice for hours on end by nagging parents or 2) they practice hours on end because they are self-motivated and/or 3) they do not have the social life of many white people and therefore embrace music as an outlet for self-expression; any white person could be just as great; I've seen many extremely talented white pianists, you just have to go see an actual concert for yourself and you'll see what I mean.
@ldc168 yeah I wasn't assuming you did. I was just making a point about the asians your age who are playing college level music like Chopin Etudes lol
@pianoman469 there's a difference between focused practice and noodling practice. chances are he has very focused practice. that has to do with the teacher. you don't need to practice hours on end to be good
@spooner1957 I know it depends heavily on the teacher- for motivation and proper technique. But it doesn't matter how well you play, you're still going to have to practice 3-6 hours a day to play pieces at the college level that I think most people associate with "unnaturally good" young asian pianists. A lot of people just don't understand that what they perceive as a "difficult piece" did in fact not take hours of practicing to learn. This coming from someone who's been playing for 10 yrs.
@pianoman469 i agree being good at piano has nothing to do with being asian... but pushy parents or lack of social life has nothing to do with being asian either!
@pianoman469 What are you talking about? 1) I am not forced to practice for hours on end by so called nagging parents. I LOVE PLAYING PIANO and that is why I play it, not because my parents force me to... rather, they are only concerned with piano because of the fact that I love playing it. No, I am not brainwashed, and I was not forced to write this either. 2) I do not practice "hours on end" unless you think 2 hours a day is "hours on end" which I"m pretty sure you don't intend it to be.
@crabbywabbysu@crabbywabbysu You misunderstand what I mean... I'm referring to young pianists that are exceptionally advanced technique-wise and probably havent been playing for more than 4 or 5 years. Unless you're on the level of the kind of asian kids I'm talking about (like the ones you often see/hear about playing Chopin Etudes, full concertos, etc.) then my comment doesn't apply to you.
@crabbywabbysu I meant kids that would put college level students to shame; sure they might "enjoy it" but seriously, you think they weren't forced by their parents at some point to practice hours on end or do it because they want to be the best? People like you who think everything is aimed at them really irritate me.
@pianoman469 3) I have a very good social life, thank you very much, and I am not an "outlier" nor am I an "exception"- I have only known ONE person out of all the people i have known in my life to be what you have just described in your grossly exaggerated and incorrect stereotype.
a true pianist goes to the lessons on there own if they are forced they will play emotionless like most asians do which is why someone w/ a good musical understanding said that they don't play good
i was thinking the same thing, people from that part of the world seem to be more dedicated and possess a strength, people in the western world care about tv and cell phones and shit
Most Asians are known to be more scientifically and creatively advanced than westerners.. Now that is just a guess and there could be another explanation altogether but in my beliefs I am guessing that is it..
not to b rasist but duh he can play good cause hes asian most asian ppl have a lot of musical ability and i personaly think that its unfair :( lol this years national piano compotition a blind asiain and another asian person tied for gold and an asian girl got bronze
Very good! In time you will be playing the English and French suites as well! Don't neglect Scarlatti and other composers of the Baroque era. Best wishes from...
Great technique! I know you've only been playing piano for 1 1/2 years. If your level keeps rising at this rate, you will be really good in the next few years, and will probably be better than those who has been playing for many years. ^.^ Keep up the good work!
LoOoL ? WoOW I MEAN !!!!! lol but i couldn't keep up :p , thumps up :3

There is a wrong note at 56 (the correct is a natural F) and, why do you play it so staccato?

Black95Crow 1 year ago
@Black95Crow
If you don't learn the correct fingering, you never will be able to play it fluently. It isn't a piece for beginners.

Amen to that,
So many people on youtube who ramble these inventions like a computer.
Some even claim to be experts in 'bach'.....only creates dissinformation and you end up influencing young pianists in a terrible terrible way....
