His Spirit went to the captives and then to the Father. So bodily and Spiritually is two things.

@98shuman He could have forgiven everyone sins without even sending His Son to die for us, but that would have violated God's own since of justice and therefore the devil would have had a case against Him that would allow the devil to defeat God. Sin must be paid for with blood. Sin brings death. Someone had to pay. God did not want everyone to die since all were sinners, so He send His Son to not only pay the price, but Jesus actually became sin. Jesus paid it all. All to Him we owe.

The verse you sited had nothing to do with the judgment seat of Christ. It had to do with overcomers coming back with Christ for His 1000 year reign. @98shuman He could have forgiven everyone sins without even sending His Son to die for us, but that would have violated God's own since of justice and therefore the devil would have had a case against Him that would allow the devil to defeat God. Sin must be paid for with blood. Sin brings death. Someone had to pay. God did not want everyone to die since all were sinners, so He send His Son to not only pay the price, but Jesus actually became sin. Jesus paid it all. All to Him we owe.

Jesus committed His Spirit to His Father, and then He went by the Spirit into the lower parts of the earth to preach to the captives and set them free. Then He was physically raised on the third day to never die again. So his actual death was short due to His Spirit having always being in the care of His Father whether on earth or from on the cross. His body was lifeless for only three days.

I am a white man who was born & raised in the black community as my dad was R.W. Schambach's worship leader in the 60's. I remember crying with my fellow church members at Miracle Temple in Newark New Jersey in 1968 when I was 7 years of age when Martin Luther King was assassinated. I still love and appreciate the black people and the culture. Thanks for standing for life and family and not for flesh, as you put it.
