This is from 9th June 1939 for Decca with John Scott Trotter - it's not a test pressing but a fluffed take - the second take was OK but the 1931 version is more widely known than this one
I did not see anything relating to Decca on the handwriting on this label, but who knows? It is still a mystery to me, and thank you for the added info...Friends, Lloyd.
yes its Bng Crosby. I've heard it a few times. I have heard it on the radio on jazz stations as a novelty. many people recorded songs off radio with these home recorder machines. i just bought a bunch including a bing crosby from 1948. all recorded off the radio. Ask around the Bing Crosby collectors clubs for info on it. Its a rare great record! But I dont think it is the only one out there. I'd like to have one. thanks for sharing!
This is a very well known Bing Crosby studio outtake from the late 1930s and was a widely circulated bootleg. Your disc is probably a copy of a copy of a copy, etc. Kermit Schafer included the ad lib/profane portion of the outtake in one of his "Pardon my Blooper" LPs circa 1960.
Thank you for finding the history on this record!!..It is a historical homemade record with no brand name on it, or artist name either!, thanks again for the info!!
It does sound allot like him, but it was from a homemade record, and this singer used a bad word later on in song when he was upset about someone taking 8 bars out of his music script, and there is laughing in the background as well..
You know, I'm no fool and I'll bet you a million that is Bing Crosby, someone recorded it on there to save it, it was probably a discarded take cuz he fucked up and started cursing.. Oh and by the way I love the song, and this one if it's real and your not pulling our legs is worth a fortune! If u ever sell it, don't let it go cheap, I am not joking this is a rare jem. i was thinking it was recorded on the radio, remember they used to broadcast it live.. and that's what I still think.
Thank you for great comments on this and the other songs as well. If this is Bing Crosby, I will have to store it extra safe. I live in a rural Minnesota community about 60 miles s.w. of Twin Cities. I suppose it could be possible a Minneapolis radio station record such as this made it's way to the local antique store where I got it for 50 cents....thank you Chris, I will have to check it out, friends always...Lloyd.
I think someone recorded it off the radio at home in their house on one of those "make a record in your living room" systems they had in the 40's, it has that radio compressed sound and the orchestration is too professional sounding to be made by some amateur's at home.
