Actually that was 2006. In 2005 the only wins for the Illini were over San Jose State and Rutgers, but went winless in the Big Ten. The much improved Illinois in 2006 got its only conference win agianst Michigan State and an OOC win against Eastern Illinois. The difference was that the 2006 Illinois team just couldn't close the deal in close games, but the 2005 Illinois team was consistantly blown out. The 2007 Illini showed the beginnings of the team's true potential.

I think they'll squeak past Mizzou, but it could go either way. If Mizzou wins, then I see them in the NCG. Illinois might lose in Happy Valley only because it's a conference opener and it's at night in a stadium that made so much of a home field advantage that Penn State played Michigan to the wire in 2006. But what works in Illinois' favor here is that they're much better than they were in 2007, and they did beat Penn State in 2007, never once trailing on the scoreboard. The other one is Wisky

True, but it's in Camp Randall. I think the Penn State game is another big one because they're different on the road than at home. Penn State blew out Wisconsin 38-7 at home, but on the road only beat Indiana 36-31. But I think if Illinois can beat Mizzou and PSU, they'll have the confidence to run the table and steamroll over everyone, including Ohio State, make it to the NCG, possibly win and finish #1.

What they were doing reffing any game after they were told by the big 10 they were going to be suspended is beyond me. Also, tressel couldn't throw the flag. The official word is there was a "technical difficulty" in the replay booth, with rumors that the difficulty was that the friggin replay ref WASN'T IN THE BOOTH at the time. So yeah, I guess I got owned. OUCH.
