  • I am a SJA cadet and just wanted to say that it's a fun club to go to and has a purpose, we can help out the real ambulances and paramedics, also it's a great place to meet friends!

  • @sharkybadboy The problem here is that you have tarnished everyone with the same brush. There are certainly members of SJA that I would not let anywhere near me but some are bloody great.

  • @Rob1992SJA my views are unchanged in fact they have merely been confirmed through these posts (re-read them and you will see). Again you only have to look at members both on youtube and in public to see that they are not professional in appearence at all. I have always been fully aware of what members do and still am, that is waht is truly frightening!

  • @sharkybadboy747 So everyone is entitled to there own opinion, just hope you dont need there help one day.

    See Ya.

  • @Rob1992SJA Indeed we are and thank you for sharing yours, I too hope I don't need their help one day too! Lol!

  • The civilians are doing well, they're going down to the ground.

  • I believe from what I have experienced in St John, the majority of NHS ambulance crews like what st John has done in the development of the ambulances. An event like the London Marathon with road closures will delay a NHS vehicle getting into the event to respond to either a non related problem or indeed a collapsed runner. So to have our vehicles fixated around the event means st john will respond to everything within the event perimeter. I hope any other comments on here will be good ones!!

  • As for the comments thinking that St John shouldnt have gone so far in the development of ambulance crews. I hope you realise that lots of events we cover will have nurses, doctors and paramedics helping us. These people will crew vehicles with our crews if needed. So it is very likely that a crusader on blues and twos could have a HCP on board.

  • I hope people understand that at most events there will only be first aiders required. Only certain events require ambulances. However the crews are only trained in certain areas of patient care. So if needed, the crew WILL call for a NHS ambulance if they think it is in the best interest of the casualty. Do remember the crews do not give injections, so there treatment for pain relief is some what limited. I hope people will stop thinking that st john members are a joke.

  • Hi all. This video was put on here just to show that members of St John Ambulance actually do more than just sit around all day at events. Being a member myself, when I saw similar footage of this accident, I asked policeblue999 to put this on here. He done a great job too. I am surprised at the way people seem to put St john down. I believe what ever our Headquarters requests we should do,people will always dissagree.

  • Driver walks away unijured, all marshalls escape wihtout injury however St John manage to send their entire fleet, with everything flashing to the incident and millions of people in green suits start running everywhere! The best bit is when the commentator says "ALL the Ambulances are stood down"

  • @sharkybadboy747 who said none were transported to the medical centre there or discharged from the ambulance? Also - how would it have looked if they hadn't sent more than one vehicle and lots of people had been injured? When you are in the game you learn react as if it's the worse and hope for the best - thankfully here it appears the best happened

  • @helloin444 I am sure you did take some back to the medical centre to justify the over kill in response otherwise it would have been even more embarrasing for you- were any actually taken to hospital or treated for injuries or merely discharged?

  • @helloin444 I am sure you did take some back to the medical centre to justify the over kill in response otherwise it would have been even more embarrasing for you- were any actually taken to hospital or treated for injuries or merely discharged? I am 'in the game' and the response of ST John (as usual) was all lights flashing, look at us aren't we great rather than it being a measured response appropriate to the situation i.e intial highly trained response with back up nearby if required!

  • @sharkybadboy747 if you had taken time to read instead of just trying to slate me - you will have noticed I said THEY not we - so I couldn't tell you whether people were transported or not - however how can you have guaranteed there wouldn't be that many casualties looking at the number of marshalls running for cover?

Also Re: the blue lights - they're on a race circuit - unless your a race car participating in the race MOST circuits say you must have your lights on, not their choice!

  • @helloin444 thank you for clarifying that you weren't there. I agree there is no gurantees that there wouldn't be many casualties that is why my comment states 'a measured response' who could make a rapid assessment with other units standing by, mobilised nearer the scene. As for the blue light bit- the race has clearly been stopped and nothing else is on the track therefore why put the blue lights on, on the circuits I cover it instills panic and anxiety rather than professional calmness!

  • @sharkybadboy747 Seperately - thank you for keeping this a measured debate instead of an argument which settles nothing

  • @helloin444 never intended it to be an arguement, I agree with have had a measured debate with opposing views some of which are stronger than others, I suspect however we probably are both closer to sharing the same viewpoint than we realise. All the very best to you and your work.

  • @helloin444 on the subject of blue lights I notice that the Doctor/ Paramedic car has a blue light in its roof but it is not flashing- funny than! St John however have all their blue lights and headlight flashes going- any excuse I guess! Are you a member of St John by any chance?

  • @sharkybadboy747 If you look closely they all have at least their hazard warning lights on - and the van with the double "flower pot" lights does infact also have it's blue lights on, however I will agree that the headlight relay and the grill repeaters are a little excessive. And I am a member of SJA yes- however I am one of the members who thinks we are pushing the ambulance level stuff too hard - primarily a first aid organisation we should have more first aid posts than ambulances.

  • @helloin444 thank you for your comments. I too feel St John have pushed too hard on the Ambulance side, the introduction of 'green uniform' was a slippery slope to start, it is primarily a first aid organisation that renders aid until the arrival of NHS Ambulance Service, it is the whole blue light, green uniform, technician thing that gives it a bad reputation with NHS crews. Emphais should be on minimising trasnport to hospital and providing first aid at scene.

  • @sharkybadboy747 I sort of agree with the introduction of the green uniform for very limited use. At many events (eg motorcross) the smart black and white uniform is just not practical - however our vehicles primarily are for event cover and non emergency transportation for people without cars for scheduled appointments. I don't like the government encouraging us to compete for contracts with NHS, also the NHS bad opinion stems more from members arrogance than the training levels in my opinion

  • @helloin444 I hate character limits! I think our view points are very similar - one of them being I feel that people in SJA forget that what we do is basically a hobby (in many senses of the word - even if it is a very important one compared to many) however, in all reality, many events that we have our frontline ambulances at - if anything serious kicks off we call in the NHS anyway - therefore whats the point in having the blue lights? I fully agree the emphasis needs changing to FA at scene!

  • when SJA are at a VENUE quit often they are the only medic cover and if you are in a area that the NHS are busy in then it could take time that a patient might not have to transport then to HOSPITAL for vital treatment that could be out of SJA skills and qualifcations. where I like the local SJA back up the NHS a lot and are on 999 calls where blue light trained volunteers get to life threating emergancies and I have a lot of respect for what they do FOR FREE! it might be a hobby but gd for them

  • @madmedic99 Only just read your comment, but have to agree with you there. I'm Full time NHS but deal a lot with Voluntary aid agencies south and north of the border. Be it St John Ambulance, Red Cross, St Andrews First Aid, or Community Responders, they are out there doing work that, with all respect to my colleagues who do a great job, they wouldnt be turning out if they were volunteers. We forget that we get paid for all the crap we deal with. These guys and gals do it for free. Respect!

  • @sharkybadboy747 Hey dood, check out the comments on this video, Then you may see what st John members do from a different point of view.

  • @Rob1992SJA I have looked at the comments made and most of them seem to be about loving driving fast on blue lights and how cool crusaders are! As for the rest then they are criticisms of SJA!!!! Not quite sure what point of view it is you want me to look at?

  • @sharkybadboy747 I left you a message back then because of your negative views of the organisation. I only hoped to help you see from a different view that the organisation isnt that bad. I hope what I wrote is of help. I am not too sure if you are or are not a member. I believe all members try be of a proffesional appearance to the general public. I see after your conversation with Helloin444 on this video you may be more aware of what members do.
