I have a brahma and she is the loudest of the bunch! Although the other brahma (her sister) was quiet as can be. Go figure... with hens, we'll never know.
Is Peaches young? I think Peaches is a rooster! LOL, what a funny bird! One of mine did this when it was young, then I realized he was a BOY when he got older, louder and better. I had him "de-crowed " twice, but he just grew his vocal cords back, so I had to put him to sleep. He was a pet--and we lived in a suburban neighborhood where they are not allowed. His crowing made it impossible to keep him and no one wanted a "pet rooster". I wonder if there is a real quiet breed??
Yes, Peaches is a young Salmon Faverolle hen -she just happens to be a very loud, talkative hen. I actually had to give her away to a nice lady who put her with another talkative hen and she's very happy there. It was hard for me to do but it's so much better for her and for us - she was too loud! Two truly quiet breeds that I recommend are Brahmas and Cochins. No chicken breed is completely quiet all the time but I've decided that I'm going to stick to Brahmas and Cochins from now on.
Oh, lol, she is such a silly girl! It really looks as if she was trying to crow!~ I heard elsewhere about Cochins being quiet; I'll look into the Brahmas. I like the chinese silkies ALOT but I don't know how quiet they are.... :)
This is quite possibly one of my most favourite videos on Youtube. I don't know how many times I've rewatched this!
