Well guess what, i "have" a 72 Malibu (SS clone with a 454 making over 400hp naturally aspirated). Now all i have done to it suspension wise is add a rear stabilizer bar. Bu i am hard pressed to believe that with all of the added weight of these cars that your going to make it handle as well as a modern japansese vehicle. Hell even the "new muscle cars" handling are sub par.
@LwSiX You are an honest car guy....I personally love Muscle cars (almost got a Ranchero with a 429 last year).. But they hardly measure up on the modern suspensions and low weight that many (foreign and domestic) cars have now days.. And look at the newer cars ability to push reliable horsepower. Most of these car guys will elevate their rides to mythical status..But many will fall short outside of the straight line drag. But it comes down to having character.. Muscle cars can't be beat!

Second a Dart of that era would come with a 225 slant 6 motor, which has torque but the motor was built for reliability not speed and power (but it can be built for such applications). Third the gearing in the car is somewhere around 2.73:1 which is for highway cruising not acceleration. Fourth, clearly the Dodge caught up to and beat the Fit (which wasnt stock, driven one and it wasn't that quick). One can only imagine how the Honda would get raped in the 1/4.
Youre argument sucks. Tall gearing aside, a torquey motor and rear wheel drive give the advantage to dodge off the line and thus a better 1/8 mile. Fact is, it got beat by a 1.5 liter four pot designed to get good gas mileage.

I had a '72 350 Nova that put out 380+hp stock. There's no way that car would win. At any rate, a shitty driver can make a good car look terrible. And sadly there's more to racing then 10 (13 in your case)second track times, If your car can't turn, you're gonna get smoked on a freeway race. Friend's stock rabbit beats ricers all day.

Well guess what, i "have" a 72 Malibu (SS clone with a 454 making over 400hp naturally aspirated). Now all i have done to it suspension wise is add a rear stabilizer bar. Bu i am hard pressed to believe that with all of the added weight of these cars that your going to make it handle as well as a modern japansese vehicle. Hell even the "new muscle cars" handling are sub par.

@LwSiX You are an honest car guy....I personally love Muscle cars (almost got a Ranchero with a 429 last year).. But they hardly measure up on the modern suspensions and low weight that many (foreign and domestic) cars have now days.. And look at the newer cars ability to push reliable horsepower. Most of these car guys will elevate their rides to mythical status..But many will fall short outside of the straight line drag. But it comes down to having character.. Muscle cars can't be beat!

@Hurricane012345 Imports??? No............actually both of these cars are brazilian built, the Dodge in the former Chrysler plant located in Sao Bernardo, Sao Paulo state. The brazilian Chrysler declared 'bankrupt' in 1981...The Honda plant is new, there are built new models of Civic and Jazz (Fit)

First off that was an 1/8th mile. Second a Dart of that era would come with a 225 slant 6 motor, which has torque but the motor was built for reliability not speed and power (but it can be built for such applications). Third the gearing in the car is somewhere around 2.73:1 which is for highway cruising not acceleration. Fourth, clearly the Dodge caught up to and beat the Fit (which wasnt stock, driven one and it wasn't that quick). One can only imagine how the Honda would get raped in the 1/4.

Youre argument sucks. Tall gearing aside, a torquey motor and rear wheel drive give the advantage to dodge off the line and thus a better 1/8 mile. Fact is, it got beat by a 1.5 liter four pot designed to get good gas mileage.

@fald33 215 cv bem regulado e é potência bruta. Naquela época media-se o motor se nenhum acessório, como bomba dágua, hélice de refrigeração e abafadores, etc. Líquida (ABNT) não chega a 200. E tem a relação peso potência, que acaba ficando parecida com o do fit.
