look if you want to live, you have to create the means of living, that means exploiting commodities like land and water, air and minerals, plants and animals, capital and labor(people),if you want to live very, very well, you need to do this on a massive scale.you need to massive amounts of these things, most importantly people too consume these means of living, are you starting too get my drift?
if you got a problem with all this, its not a problem with the USA .
@roman14032 "life"? a human can live without exploiting others so "to live very well". one can lead only his own life without leading a large group of people as his slaves so they'd help him to live like a king. but a king has to deal with the problems of taking care of his slaves, because without his slaves he can't be a king. so soon the king becomes the slave of his own slaves. "life" does not mean greedy domination, exploitation & consumption of all. life is a freedom from all.
i see absoutltly nothing secreat about anything the USA has done in the world since TR, in fact everyone IS informed. the politians ARE doing exactly the peoples will, the people actually want even more, and they are right to.
The US has developed into a middleman empire a kind of tool for imposing & securing a certain kind of law & rule on the world & like all middlemen they can get a little greedy & speak out of turn occasionally but the real power has always been the English crown, the Jewish Crown wealth controller, and the Astrologer supreme his highness the pope who wears a kippah .
We're supposed to be a republic, not a pure democracy. Democracy is mob rule. You were right in that there is a parallel between us and rome though it is that we are in a transitional phase moving from a republic to an empire just as they did.
@VirtuosicElevator america is already an empire, not just in transition to one. its the largest empire in all of history - much larger than the roman empire you so highly admire
@EndWesternTyranny Not exactly. We still function somewhat as a republic. In other words, it is still reversible and there is still hope but it also may be too late and there may be need for a second revolution. I admire the roman republic along with the republic of san marino among others. Take san marino for example. They have no national debt. There is no doubt in my mind that there is a link between the induction of the federal reserve and the US becoming a empire. Abolish the fed = new hope
@VirtuosicElevator that is false. you're under the false assumption that something is only an "empire" when it crosses borders. tell that argument to a Cherokee family who's ancestors were mass murdered and raped by something that you think was not an empire. the US was founded as an empire...
Incident @ L.M. shop. The man at the lawn mower shop said I had lovely balls & I thanked him. Later I demarded {yes, demarded!} to know what he meant by that. He said, “nothing.”
Democracy has failed miserably. We need to regain our humanity and find the courage and the wisdom to leave all this misery behind and start the real society, with normal moral values(not reversed ones), with compassion and care not aggressive(irrational) competition, peace and prosperity.
@FictionCautious It's not that Democracy has failed. It's that it's never actually been allowed to function properly due power interfering with the process by marginalizing most of society through a lack of transparency.
I recommend you have a read of Noam Chomsky's "Understanding Power".
It's a really great read and highly informative. Easy to read too.
@EndWesternTyranny It is not a end-all value that is objectively morally superior to a republic. Democracy is tool in that it allows flexibility and accountability in the enforcement of legitimate government functions (protection from externalities of trade, violence, fraud, ect). Anti-Social? Society is not the state, society is co-operation (Spontaneous Order) through stable rules. The State is the monopoly of force not co-operation. How about a real argument next time?
this is like radical kiddie land here, grow up morons

I'm glad to have found this channel too.
Robert Heinlein's last book, "Friday" foretold a time when corporations secretly ruled. Looks like his prediction has come true.

@meridian57 Heinlein also asserted that the US was never a democracy for that long, nor for that many times throughout its own history.
