How do you dislike this? It is ironic though because the Cornelia Marie came into the show in the second season and from then on I noticed how heavy of a smoker Phil was. Sig Hanson and Phil Harris are the two best captains on the show.

Even though I didn't know Phil, it felt like someone close to me actually died. He cheered up my mom who has fought with death herself. She's still ill and he made her laugh once a week and she looked forward to it. I couldn't watch the episode when Phil passed away when it first aired . My mom, who doesn't like showing her emotions cried alone. Just tonight we both watched it together and cried together. I'm in tears even writing this.

Even after months since I found out about his sudden death, I still can't wrap my head around it, I just keep watching the episodes and think "oh, he seems to be getting better, maybe he will get through this" but I am saddened by remembering the truth, and today, that final episode was the hardest thing to watch for me. Captain Phil Harris will be truly missed and as a legend, will live on forever.
I love the show but no way i hell will I watch the final episode of Phil Harris as he slowly dies, even IF his family gave permission. Phil seemed like a great guy, a good dad and a good captain. However, the man smoked like a mother fucker for years. It is now common knowledge that smoking wreaks havoc on your cardiovascular system. When you smoke that hard for that long, you gotta know you are just playing the lottery with your life. It looks like all those guys smoke a shitload, including Phil's sons and I hope this serves as a wake up call to them.

One thing I liked about Phil was he never shouted at his crew. He may have had a few arrguments with his sons, but that's a whole different story.
The rest of the captains (especialy Sig and Keith) they shout at their crews alot, Phil didn't. That's what I liked about him.

I've watched this like 20 times and I get still get choked up. It kills me to see the part in the beginning with him standing at the rear of the ship. Especially since that was the last place he was before leaving it for the final time.

yesterday was pure hell for me i lost my uncle in a car crash and it was the 4 year death anniversary of my grandmother as well and then watching this man i dont know if i can take anymore pain i feel numb R.I.P Eveyone

Even after months since I found out about his sudden death, I still can't wrap my head around it, I just keep watching the episodes and think "oh, he seems to be getting better, maybe he will get through this" but I am saddened by remembering the truth, and today, that final episode was the hardest thing to watch for me. Captain Phil Harris will be truly missed and as a legend, will live on forever.

I love the show but no way i hell will I watch the final episode of Phil Harris as he slowly dies, even IF his family gave permission. It's disgusting, self promoting and just plain making cash off of death. Call it what you want to make yourselves feel good about watching it ... you're still sick to do so.

@destroyALLjihadist It is true that Deadliest Catch ratings are up this year, no doubt due to the passing of Phil Harris. But...Phil himself wanted to keep filming after he had the stroke. He wrote it down, saying the story needed a ending. I have watched Deadliest Catch from the beginning & Captain Phil was my favorite on the show. I think DC has dealt with the death of Phil in a tasteful manner. Would if of been right just to skip over the loss of such a beloved Captain? Thanks for your time

People like Phil are the people I admire most. He was just an orindary joe doing an extremely tough job and he did with great skill, humour and he loved his kids. I would take him over some hollyweird nut case or a Lebron James any day. Heres to the working class heroes! RIP PHIL!!

Phil seemed like a great guy, a good dad and a good captain. However, the man smoked like a mother fucker for years. It is now common knowledge that smoking wreaks havoc on your cardiovascular system. When you smoke that hard for that long, you gotta know you are just playing the lottery with your life. It looks like all those guys smoke a shitload, including Phil's sons and I hope this serves as a wake up call to them.
