Personally, along with being one the best remixes of Mining Melancholy I think this is also one the best remixes of Life In The Mines I've ever heard. Also, the part starting at 4:10 blows my mind its so damn good.

While this is good, something was bugging me a bit. I couldn't place my finger on it but now I realize the "problem"--it's too upbeat. It would be excellent followup in a situation where you come back to the level and rescue some people but it doesn't seem "melancholy" as is. Still good though.

@bendario Thanks! =) I don't think I have the production skills necessary to get this past the OCR judges yet but once I've learnt a bit more I'm going to redo this and try again. I'm going to try and get a guitarist to play the guitar bits as well, and maybe record some live piano. Same goes for the Life in the Mines remix. ;)

Seriously good remix! Shame OCR didn't accept it but I'm gonna dl it anyway. Just curious, but Is the sound used at 1:41 different on this version than the newgrounds one? It sounds much nicer on newgrounds and reminds me of an early Rare NES game called Digger T Rock, where you played a miner :) Look up the game on youtube, the soundtrack was excellent.

Thanks! =D Yeah, the Newgrounds version is the latest. You can update stuff after you upload it there, but not on Youtube. There's a few changes to the backing, the synth at 1:41 is different (did you notice that it's playing Lockjaw's Saga?) and I removed the bars between Life in the Mines and Donkey Kong Rescued.

I think I'll make a new version of this in a year or so when I've improved, and try again with OCR. ; )

I really hope so you do decide to remake it. THis song is extremely well done already but we could always use an even more epic version.

. I love the alterations to the main theme when the piano part kicks in. THe guitar playing the melody also works extremely well and sounds epic. My only complaint is that there is no parts where chorus is singing/humming the melody. That was the best part in the original song imo.

Overall though, I absolutely love this song!

Guitar and piano sounded fake, whole song sounds 'muted,' drums and backing pads stay the same for pretty much the whole song, and I think I messed up the EQ (I finally figured out how to do that now though. lol).

Like I said, I agree with their decision. And 2/3 of the judges asked me to fix it and try again, which is better than a straight no. I think I'll try again with a different song though.
