I won't speculate about that, but something in her eyes kinda tells me that she didn't love Anne as much as she loves Portia now.
I mean just look at her eyes when she's with Portia, they're shining like stars =D

They broke up in 2000- so two years they stayed together after this. I think ellen was so quite because ann talks alot more than portia
