@Fecious1 In every country you will find citizens who believe whole-heatedly that the people of that country are the smartest people in the world. If a country respect and treat ALL its citizens well, then they believe in their country and themselves. It is all about national pride!

If you have everything given to you like people in I-countries, they get stupid and don't develop bcause they don't have to. A Jamaican can not survive if he is stupid. @nr2realgyal I guess it matters to how an individual defines the term "smart." The Jamaican wins everytime when it comes to survival intelligence but not when it comes to their country providing a high level of education to its citizens in over that of your country,Sweden. Jamaica is intelligent enough to know that eating your next meal comes before intellectually advancing themselves beyond that point.

@Fecious1 All the Jamaicans live a happy n nice life, EVEN if they don't have an income. Many years ago, I became aware of the fact dat what you need for a nice life is love and God, Jamaicans have both.

Think about it. They people that get everything handed to dem, become lazy, a Jamaican strive to survive and do it good. That is intelligent to me anyway...
I also think you'll find that in terms of globally successful talent (whatever the domain), Jamaica is close to, if not at the top of the overall ladder with regards to production of such talent per capita- especially for a 3rd world country without the resources to harness and hone such prospects.
Most countries benefited from the slave trade in the sense that-
Many slave owners and masters took part in genocide where they killed the natives and imported slaves for sport/fun. Also in the very tough conditions- lack of food, healthcare etc. it was almost a case of survival of the fittest.
And I have no doubt that of the Jamaicans that made it through the slavery era as well as the more poverty-stricken times, there is an abnormally high percentage of gifted people.
