@deezynar Why mess with a good thing? You can still buy this exact same recorder, although I understand that while the wood is still pear, it is only about ten years old instead of twenty five. Does your '82 say how old the pearwood was?
The inside of the box lid was rubber stamped w/ the model #, pitch, etc. & "25 - year pearwood".
I don't play it much because I don't have the lung capacity to play a tenor.
I also have a 1984 Moeck boxwood soprano and a couple plastic ones. I can't tell the difference in the sound between the boxwood and the plastic ones. I play one of the plastic sopranos the most just because it's bulletproof. I see a lot of very good players using plastic instruments nowadays.
@deezynar That must be one of the last 25-year old pear-woods, and I'm sure it's a fine instrument. I also play the plastics quite a bit, I have a Yamaha tenor out of plastic that has a great tone. I also have a Sweetheart Super Soprano that I paid big money for and it sounds exactly the same as plastics. My favorite is actually an old Hohner in dingy yellow plastic.
OH MY GOD!!! I have a baroque alto recorder which says "Made in Germany" and "ohannes Alder" on it too! Does that mean it is worth something? I had no idea! found it in an woodpile behind my dad's fireplace about 14 years ago.
It looks exactly like my Adler tenor from 1982.

"How cool is that?" What can I say, when anything should be an understatement?

G'day! That's a nice instrument you have there. I personally think recorders are very underrated. Thanks for the subscription!
