  • hello, thanks for responding, is this stuff good to use for permanant g5rv mini center fed dipole ap.? and is it not as critical to run close to conductive materials such as siding and down spouting? also what size connectors would be used?is this stuff going to be obsolete now or is there no market for it? thanks dave

  • @ddkkrlsn Hi Dave

Its long lasting i've had an inverted 40m half wave dipole made resonant on 7.130 made over a year ago, its still resonant on 7.130 today! If you put a small blob of "liquid Tape" on the terminals after soldering I imagine they for would be weather proof for my lifetime at least.

It will still be effected by close by metallic objects i'm afraid. and yes this kit was decomissioned quite a few years ago, the British Army moved onto different kit "bowman" 73 de M0VST

  • @markbeermonster Same here, last night I'd been up for 48 hours straight and wasn't thinking clearly at all. It's great that these old elements are being used and not just sitting in a big warehouse rusting away and unloved. Again, please keep up your great work with the videos and feel free to delete my earlier comments.

  • @lordtapdoles For your info, and others who may read the above comment. The hooks on the Clansman Antenna Element Wires are there for use with the Dipole Centre/Balun. The Dipole Centre has a hole at each end for the hook to be attached to in order to provide strain relief and ensure the tension of the wire isn't placed on the electrical connection.

  • Yes please keep me informed. Right now I have no immediate need for it. But I do want that wire at one point in time!

  • What is the name / type of the full braided kevlar wire? I would like to find the mfg and a source to buy this wonderful antenna wire.

  • @RogierYou Hi

Its made by Thales & Racal for the clansman british army kit.

I normally have these for sale, but i'm waiting on Stock.

I can let you know when I get some if you want?

    Mark - 2E0RKY - KD8MGW.

  • @markbeermonster , hello i am interested in this kevlar wire kit, do you have it for sale or know where i can get it? the full braided stuff. thanks ddkkrlsn

  • @ddkkrlsn You have PM I have a few in stock of the correct better performing type of the wire.

    73 de M0VST

  • Ahhhhhhhhh HF , brings back some heart ache from my Regimental Signals course!

  • Thanks for uploading this :) Had never heard of kevlar before now.

Your setup looks really cool too. Mine currently consists of a cheapo Eton E5 receiver, and a piece of speaker wire running down the garden, lol.

  • Where r u from please
