I've never heard a liberal, in the American sense, praise Guevara - American liberals tend to condemn the Castro government and Cuban Revolution. Many Socialists and Communists do, though, as he did lead the example of a small guerrilla army engaging a successful revolution against an established army.
In any case, Guevara's victims were by and large Batista officials, and it's quite the standard for revolutionaries to exterminate former despotic agents.

Che was a communist like any other idealist of his time.
He is revered for his rebellious overthrow of the cuban dictatorship. His ideals may have been misled, but nevertheless he did fight military regimes, both in Cuban and South America.

Nobody is calling it a utopia except you, and it's also very clear that you don't know how many people were killed by capitalism or imperialism also. It is not about picking sides, but seeing that both have good and bad points. What about Operation Condor? What about the struggle for Africa? What about the millions of indigenous Latin Americans who died slaving in the mines for foreign expansionists? Or do you just not care?

I don't think there is or will ever be one all-perfect government. Even in the U.S., suppossedly the best in the world, there are many people complaining.

To develop unconditional love and non-judgment, since we cannot be sure that our truths are the whole truth, we cannot impose our truths onto others.

Tell that to the families of those that Ernesto Rafael Guevara Lynch de la Serna killed. Ask the Cubans who lived through Fidel, Raoul, and Che's purges. I don't see a lot of Cubans in South FL jumping on boats to get back there. Fidel himself made Ernie the Minister of Industry to take away his power to order executions. The "Che" you appear to worship is an invention of marketers, which I, in fact, find infinitely hilarious!

I've never heard a liberal, in the American sense, praise Guevara - American liberals tend to condemn the Castro government and Cuban Revolution. Many Socialists and Communists do, though, as he did lead the example of a small guerrilla army engaging a successful revolution against an established army.
In any case, Guevara's victims were by and large Batista officials, and it's quite the standard for revolutionaries to exterminate former despotic agents.

Examples of things that are over-looked or not acknowledged about Ganhi might include his racism, his belief Hitler was not a bad man, and that Jews and the British should have surrendered, and worse. @bruk5 In the great planes there is a large aborigenal population and what is now the wheat belt lacked agricultrue because crops wich grow well in places like Turkey and Poland were brought over by Europeans. Some aborigenal pople died from dissease but modern science has erradicated many of those dieases. I think the big change in demographics was not due to getting rid of the first nations but by new settler who came because of the regions unexploited agricultural potential.

Although Che is pathetic, I have to say that the argument here was very weak. Essentially Che supported a couple of killers and killed people without trials. He's nowhere near as bad as Hitler or Mao.

Excellent video, and thank you. My dad grew up in Communist Cuba. "Che" was feared by all, it was common knowledge he was Castro's hitman. My dad's cousin originally worked for Che, after finding out that Che was a Communist my dad's cousin reveled. Che then ordered his execution without trial. Che was a no good piece of sh*t! He was captured alive, but with exiled Cubans present working with the CIA, there was NO WAY that he was going to be allowed to live. He got what he gave, death!

Che was a communist like any other idealist of his time.
He is revered for his rebellious overthrow of the cuban dictatorship. His ideals may have been misled, but nevertheless he did fight military regimes, both in Cuban and South America.

Che Guevara embodies the ideals of justice, equality, freedom, truth, and bravery.
He is a martyr to the cause of world liberation from the shackles of capital slavery. The slave plantations were replaced by the corporation and Guevara gave his life to wake up the huddled masses of humanity.

Now that's you've established that he wasn't perfect, the next logical step is to see both sides of his personality instead of one. The majority of people either love blindly or hate blindly and both are perplexed to find out there's more to it. Nobody is calling it a utopia except you, and it's also very clear that you don't know how many people were killed by capitalism or imperialism also. It is not about picking sides, but seeing that both have good and bad points. What about Operation Condor? What about the struggle for Africa? Communism is a bait and switch. It convinces people that the slaughter of prisoners and so on is justified if the end is good enough. Unfortunately, the end is shit.
What I am complaining about is idolizing instrumental butchers whose end was establishing a one-party tyranny which was justified in killing or imprisoning it's opponents because of the evils of capitalism (whose end game is beneficial to everyone.)

Trust me, I am the first person to criticize Che. But I'm also the first person to criticize everyone else for not being able to look at a situation or person from both sides. Those people who love or hate blindly are two sides of the same coin. They only see one side of the picture. Although I don't necessarily buy ALL the negative claims about Che Guevara, I do find the concept of merchandising the Guevara image laughable. Especially since the people wearing these t-shirts, and buying into this fad are predominantly self-identified 'leftists and free thinkers'. What worse fate could there be for someone like Che, than to see his image mass produced and sold in the free market for mass profit? How can these people be taken seriously?

When the US can tell me that they did not support a military dictatorship under Batista in Cuba can they or they citizens critise anyone. The only right political system is a freely elected system where the politicians represent the views of the people they serve. I don't think there is or will ever be one all-perfect government. Even in the U.S., suppossedly the best in the world, there are many people complaining.
I think it starts from the inside out. Where we all develop ourselves to rise above the narrow confines of our own individualistic concerns to the concerns of a broader concept of mankind. To develop unconditional love and non-judgment, since we cannot be sure that our truths are the whole truth, we cannot impose our truths onto others.

(1) Completely biased video. One thing most people dont seem to recognize is the fact that Che was a soldier. A soldier uses violence as a medium for social change. Che Guevara, unlike Raegan, Bin Laden, Hitler, Mao, Saddamm, or any national army, did not assasinate the innocent. In a battle, any entity of opression is an enemy.

Tell that to the families of those that Ernesto Rafael Guevara Lynch de la Serna killed. Ask the Cubans who lived through Fidel, Raoul, and Che's purges. I don't see a lot of Cubans in South FL jumping on boats to get back there. Fidel himself made Ernie the Minister of Industry to take away his power to order executions.
